I feel the need...
Is it October yet?
Notice, I said October because I don't care about September and The Count's farce of a "International" event in a lame and greedy attempt to circumvent the Olympics.
Only domcha and kids from the backwoods of Fort McMurray gets excited about THE WORLD CUP OF TEH HOCKEYS!!!!!
Going in next week to check out my new digs at Pizza Pizza Arena.

That said, you should still be excited for September, that's the official start of Toronto Maple Leaf Joke season which in the absence of the domcha has been replaced with Edmonton Oilers joke season.

If voynov can't play its fake. I don't say that because I'm a voynov supporter, I say that because if his "NHL ban" keeps him out of an "international tournament" then it's just fake NHL, it's not a real tourney of the best players.

What??? I'm being nice (for a masshole). I even suggested oiler joke season this year. I miss Dom like you miss moog, everyone's losing their evil counterpart. If the trend stands, cabbie or blackack will be the next to go missing.

Cabbie always goes missing in the off-season

Well, d-men that come in as kids ready to take on top-pairing duties are freaking rare. I think we can count on 1 hand the ones who have and are not basket-cases? Ekblad is the most recent one...the rest? Need to be sheltered and given time to grow.
Jultz was handed the keys to the kingdom...told he was a future NORRIS winner (WTF!??) and then, yeah...became a basketcase in what? 2-3 seasons? Who knows...if he actually was given time to grow and learn, MAYBE. Now? Forget it. But, on a Pens squad, as a 3rd-pairing and depth guy, I think he'll be good.

Buuuuuuuuut.... maybe you and ack are right... it's been rumored that the oilers locker room was a toxic wasteland... maybe it had an effect on him.
But seriously, the guy would just stand on the ice and do nothing. "oh look, there's the puck! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

He didn't become a basket case. He just stood on the ice and watched the puck go past him. I've never seen a lazier D-man before in my life.

I dunno...all I can say is having seen some of the Pens games in the playoffs, that was not the same Jultz that got run out of Edmonton. He seemed decent enough to me. Then again, that was not the same Trevor Daley that the Hawks let go too.

I foresee the oilers winning the cup before the leafs ever do again

Well, how many more roster positions do the Oil need to be #1 overall...? So, whatever number of positions are left to be drafted first overall is the number of years remaining to Cup-time for Edmonton.
THEN, Edmonton will feature an entire team of first overall picks. And each game will be 1343142441-0 for Edmonton. It will be glorious.

Benn 8 years, $76 million. I didn't think the Toews contract could look any worse.

Hockey News does a ranking of fan-base confidence in their teams...interesting!
How much confidence does each NHL fan base have in their front office? A ranking of all 30 teams | The Hockey News
I'm rather surprised Edmonton isn't #30.

True that, Crosby and Malkin are steals at 8.7M annually as long as you don't ask Black Label

So, why do I think Adam Larsson may have a sorry and comedic ending?
Here's Edmonton's hilarious story of trying to develop d-men over the last several years...and how each panned out: Cult of Hockey: A sorry tale of three college d-men, four Oilers? GMs, and one unhappy ending after another | Edmonton Journal
Moral of the story: VERY VERY VERY few kids come into the NHL and are ready to be top-pairing d-men. They need to be sheltered in a lower pairing and in a system that nurtures and develops. So, maybe forwards that pitch in on the back-check...Anyways...then, there's Edmonton's route.

Sorry, Taco...it's not personal...just unbelievably hilarious to me how inept the Oilers are...but, remember how I laughed at the Oil signing The Monster to be back-up? Well, this here, right from your local press, shows why The Monster was a horrid choice given the other backup goalies available: Cult of Hockey: The problem with the Edmonton Oilers? Jonas Gustavsson signing, in one chart | Edmonton Journal

I dunno, I don't think the deal is as horrid as you do. It's not like Edmonton getting bent over with no lube for Larsson.
