Sigh... has hockey season started yet? The oilers will be cup contenders. What? Why are you laughing? Every team is considered a cup contender for the first day of hockey season.

Loocheech was talking a big game on the radio the other day. Saying Edmonton needs to get it's swagger back and needs to become a team others fear to play. We'll see how much of that holds true by the end of the 2nd week of the season.

So, the Flower could be a Vegas Stripper...if Pens choose to not protect him. I was right...but wrong, if Moog was here.

The pens have no choice, they have to protect him due to his limited no trade clause. The only person who has any control is the flower himself. The flower can choose to waive his ntc protection if he wanted to expose himself to the draft. No one else can make him.

The he only part you had right was that you were wrong.

Dammit...I'm always wrong.

Well, at least I learned something new today for being wrong.

So, seriously...what do you think the Oilers will be like next season? More cannon-fodder for other teams or actually competitive and NOT a lottery team for once since Geezus...?

I think they will slightly improve, but still be on the outside, looking in, when it comes time to the playoffs.

I still dont think they are anywhere near being a good enough team to make it.

I'm likely being overly optimistic here, but they finished, what, 29th last year? I'm hoping they end up in the range of 22-24th, overall. Judging by last year's standings, they'd have to win 5 more games to end up in 24th. 7 games to end up in 22nd. I think it's doable.

But then again, I've said that every year, for the last 9 years

I should just come to reality and realize they will suck shit again this year.

Defense defense and well...defense.

With no disrespect to Sid...Connor McJesus is going to surpass Crosby very soon. Problem is, does he have ANYONE to get him the puck from the Oilers zone? Is there anyone in the Oilers D that can prevent goals? We'll see if Shirellatoni's pick up of Larsson is enough (I think, not really)...he's going to be in a Top 4 of Sekara, Davidson, and Klefbom...not exactly a D-corps that shouts "elite". I'm thinking Nurse is in the 3rd pairing. But, who knows. At least Oilers won't be as soft...the forwards of Loocheechandchong, Kassian (I still think he's an idiot), and Whatamaroonwhatanincowpoop will add some hitting to a squad that was softer than Disney's Stars on Ice.

Good re-signing, I assume this means that Cullen will be signing elsewhere. He played great for us, but out of the 2, we need to keep Schultz more

That I won't deny. But he's still a bum. Now he's side by side with good players, and all of a sudden he becomes better. It's not rocket science. Put him on a line with Crosby and I'm sure he will net 40 points a year.

Well, d-men that come in as kids ready to take on top-pairing duties are freaking rare. I think we can count on 1 hand the ones who have and are not basket-cases? Ekblad is the most recent one...the rest? Need to be sheltered and given time to grow.

Jultz was handed the keys to the kingdom...told he was a future NORRIS winner (WTF!??) and then, yeah...became a basketcase in what? 2-3 seasons? Who knows...if he actually was given time to grow and learn, MAYBE. Now? Forget it. But, on a Pens squad, as a 3rd-pairing and depth guy, I think he'll be good.

The coaching did a LOT to help him and get his game right, I can tell you that. A lot of damage had to be undone coming from the Oils
