Hey now, it's not easy ruining the careers of blossoming young players. It takes hard work and dedication to be able to do it. Austin has a bullseye on his forehead. He's going down.

We had a chat about it here at work. IF we get Austin, there's a sneaking suspicion that we will trade him immediately, for a top dog defenseman. It makes sense. We are starting to get some experience out of Nugent-Hopkins, and even though he isn't producing the greatest these days, we are able to move him between lines with ease. It would make no sense to bring yet another rookie in, with zero nhl experience, to take the place of Nugent-Hopkins. We don't need another center player.

Edmonton's problem is simple: blueline. Fix the blueline, the offense will come. Despite all the "talent" up front, which I do not deny, the issue with the Failboats is that there is NO ONE WHO CAN GET THE FORWARDS THE PUCK.

Want to really muck up Chicago? Have a fantastic forecheck with speed on their blueline on Keith, Seabrook, et al and look what happens. Oh right, the recent losing streak against some key contenders have exposed that. Any team that cannot get the puck to their skilled forwards is doomed. Period.

The idiots who ran Edmonton into the ground continued to draft forward after forward after forward after forward. They finally got their heads out of the @$$es and addressed by getting thug-boi Nurse and Klefbom but who knows how they'll pan out...But, yes...to your point, the Oilers regardless of getting another #1 overall pick (PLEASE FAWK NO!!!!), must must must trade for a TRUE puck-moving D-man who can log 20+ minutes.

So, let's just hope the NHL rigs the draft this year and Edmonton has no way of getting #1 and falls to a more deserved #4 or lower...But, the Failboats must trade either Lips (Hall), Ehburree, Noojent-Hopping, or Drysytel for a legit d-man.

I heard on the radio yesterday, that apparently Bettman was talking to the GMs of all the teams and nobody felt a new "oilers" rule should be put into effect to limit a team from getting so many #1s. I believe the general feeling was that a #1 pick, besides being #1 (oh, wow!!) doesn't mean shit.

But whatever, it'll be cool to watch another good player sink to the bottom. Wait, did I say cool? I meant horribly horrendous.

Not sure what happened tonight but the Wild played WELL. on defense and offense. The Hawks were detached from the get-go, not connecting on anything and spending very little time at the Wild goal - things got better in the 2nd period and they tied it, and that was promising - then the overtime blew by, and they absolutely SUCKED in the shootout. anyways we got our money's worth. lol

I think it's great that Sid is pretty much back to playing at his level. And if the Pens can flex their muscles against the Caps, that's also a good thing IMO. I would very much enjoy a playoff showdown between Pens and Caps.

Toronto is still 2 points behind edmonton, however, edmonton has played 4 games more then toronto. And if Edmonton does get last place, we likely aren't getting the 1st pick. Yay for the rest of the NHL
