Shirelli fired: Bruins fire GM Chiarelli - Article - TSN
Although I don't get the firing. Sure the Seguin trade was an epic, epic fail. And the Boychuk trade was another mess. He deserved another year IMO. A GM takes the team to a cup win, a final, a presidents trophy all within 5 years and you can him after missing the playoffs by 2 points in a league that's all parity? The guy would have a 200 ft statue in downtown Toronto if he did that for the Leaves. Fawkin spoiled brat Massholes.
No doubt the new GM will want his own coach too.

He called the boychuck trade "the first in a series of moves to make the team better. 1) there were no more moves 2) the team got worse.
He did enough damage over the past 2 years to get canned. The over extending on Iginla, letting Shawn Thornton walk, trading Boychuck away. He let too much locker room leadership walk out the door and it cost the team a playoff appearance and it cost him his job.

I think Shirelli did not sit on his hands but did make efforts to upgrade his team...but, if you look at the trade deadline transactions, there was alot of overpayment. Chicago sent Dahlbeck (a very good D-prospect who Moog would've hyped about this and that and this and that and Deano this and that about if he were a King) and a 1st-rounder for Vermette.
You think Boston had that appetite for that? And don't forget, only reason Chicago got Vermette was because Kane was injured and had salary cap savings.

Harder and harder to make trades these days with draft picks being at a premium. And of course, the draconian salary cap.

As I mentioned before he has a fear of letting contracts expire and forcing players to earn a contract in their last year. He could have done that with boychuck moved him at the deadline.
Not helping him, look at the year boychuck had with nyi.

The hot dog vendor was also given a stern warning.
I gave April Reimer a stern warning. Very stern.
You've already proven to be antisocial and fibcha doesn't ask twice. Maybe I'll ask Babs if you can hook up the tow line later this summer if you ask nicely. Maybe.
I'll await your invite so I can make that determination.

I'm sure babs is smart enough to not allow a treasonous hockey fan secure the tow line. If you want babs around for another season I wouldn't let dom near the boat. Scratch that, don't let him near the lake. You know what, I'd just keep him out of Michigan all together, doms already shown a propensity for ruining it for everyone once he's annoyed at the hockey world.

I guess it goes either under the category of karma or live by the dive die by the dive. Technically the right call was made....
Rule 61.3 for the NHL states that a major penalty must be assessed if there’s an injury on the slash. And as per Rule 61.5, if a major penalty is handed out for slashing, “a game misconduct penalty must also be imposed.”

Signed, Leaf fan who has no idea what winning feels like.
Aren't you sick and tired of all this winning? Must get boring after so many seasons of being a Cup contender. Wouldn't you rather they fire the GM, coach and undergo off season turmoil? At least uncertainty is interesting.

Fark. Look at last year's finishing. Miami, Calgary, Vancouver, and the Isles...all were near the bottom and look at this year. In the playoffs. So, it's doable.
