Hockey: News and Discussion Thread
Of course it makes sense.
Just this morning a client asked about a budget item in question on a project, I showed him a vid of Ron Hextall scoring a goal....problem solved. Client saw the light on the budget item.
Don't ever take for granted how much power there is in a random hockey vid that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

I mean, look guys...call it what you want...the hit was opportunistic and took advantage of a player who had no idea it was coming.
The NHL is not suspending Orpik, whatever. We know sadly now that the enforcement of hitting and etc. is as reliable as a ref in the WWE.
It's pretty black and white, right? And sure, I suppose you need to have your loyalty and bias towards your favorite team...but, c'mon! Any other day of the year, if this hit was done to your star player, you'd be just as outraged. How can you not see this?

Dude...c'mon here. You need to admit that your team has been in the headlines for extra-curricular activities all season. The disgraceful game with Boston, Neal's repeated questionable hits to players, yesterday against Chicago, and so on.
It's one thing to showcase a poor judgment play like Brown's hit there, but LA is NOT a dirty team. They are hard-nosed and physical but how often do you read about their players crossing the line.
Pittsburgh of late? All the time. And let's be freaking honest, your team is no longer "THE" team...no Cup for the last few years. So, if you want to talk about everyone's against you, at least pick on another team. If anything, Pittsburgh is the NHL's golden team with the face of the League, in Crosby.

Listen kids, I have seen the light!!!
Rounder is brilliant!!!
Dustin Brown is the one causing all of the Pengoons cheap shot antics.
The blame lies solely at Brown's feet.
Pengoon fan logic is clearly high above the typical hockey fan.
Bunch of weak @ss p*ssy hockey players can't handle a shoulder to the head, a knee to the head......
Willie Mitchell is clearly a weak @ass pussy for staying out of the game for over 6 months after Malkin crushed his dome.
Man-up hockey players....get manly like the Pengoons....or go home!!!!

Playoff Odds Update:
Detroit Red Wings Playoff Chances
Beat Tampa Bay 3-2, playoff odds up 11.2 to 80.9%
Dallas Stars Playoff Chances
Did not play, playoff odds down 0.09 to 63.1%
Washington Capitals Playoff Chances
Lost to Nashville 3-4 (so), playoff odds down 6.2 to 20.2%
Toronto Maple Leafs Playoff Chances
Did not play, playoff odds down 1.5 to 4.9%
I'm sure the video of Raffi Torres nearly killing Hossa will prove why the Leafs are not going to make the playoffs. Rounder can post it.

And that's where the pengoons fans "haters" and "jealousy" argument falls apart. As a b's fan, why would I be jealous of the penguins? Because of how the b's annihilated them in the playoffs last year?
If b's fans wanted to hate or be jealous, it would be of the hawks because 1) they beat us last year and 2) all the cups they've won this decade.
So what do you here from b's fans about the hawks? Mostly nothing by praise for a team who plays "the right way, with honor".
Pittsburgh has accomplished absolutely nothing for us to be jealous of. As for the hate, yeah we hate them because they don't play "the right way". They are just a bunch of opportunistic cheap shot artists who cower in fear when they get called out on their cheap shots.

So this article is slightly out of date. It comes from near the end of the 2011 regular season. Being that the Bruins won the cup that year, you can assume that they cheap shotted their way to the top right? Maybe not so much.

#1 Dirtiest team and #6 for biggest cheaters. Those are facts, not opinions.
So let's break down penalties into two categories: dirty (boarding, charging, checking from behind, clipping, elbowing, kneeing, and roughing) and cheating (holding, holding the stick, hooking, goalie interference, interference, and tripping). Note that I'm NOT including fighting in with the dirty plays, as fighting tends to be two enforcers squaring off against each other, which is a bit different from, say, a boarding play.
Team Dirty
Pittsburgh Penguins 84
Buffalo Sabres 79
Columbus Blue Jackets 73
Montreal Canadiens 73
New York Islanders 73

Otherwise, no one here really had an issue with the Pens. I rooted for your team against the Dead Things both times. What are you talking about?

Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik will not face a hearing from the NHL for his hit on Chicago's Jonathan Toews that caused the Blackhawks' captain to leave Sunday night's game. No penalty was called on the play, and the league's Department of Player Safety did not deem the hit illegal. Toews was favoring his upper left arm after the hit into the boards in the right-wing corner. After the game, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said he didn't think the injury was serious and that Toews is day-to-day.
^^ In the league we trust....because Shananananban.
This only adds more fuel to the fire that the Pengoons get a pass in officiating, and at the high end of the leagues discipline system. :shistle:

Pengoon fans: Kerry Fraser is a Pens-hater...so, don't read his take on Orpik's "clean" hit on Toews. It's biased. It's myopia at its best.

^^ The league ALWAYS gets it right. NEVER wrong!
It proves it was a legal hit if the league says it's legal.
The track record of the league in getting the right calls on goals, hits (legal and illegal), and disciplinary action is FLAWLESS!!! The NHL is the perfect example on consistency and doing things right!!!!

Seriously, Pengoon fans should be relieved that Chicago does NOT play the sort of tit-for-tat game...Coach Q doesn't usually allow it nor is it the culture of that locker room. Although, I'm sure Bollig, Shaw, Seabrook, Brookbank would've more than happily introduced themselves to Orpik for his "clean" hit on Toews.
Heck, even Bortozzo should've been taught a lesson for his martial-arts cross-check on Sharp.

Oh LOVELY...just did a search on "classy" d-man, Orpik. He doesn't fight!
He hasn't dropped his gloves in many seasons now! So, great. We have here a player who likes to take others' heads off but won't back it up when he's asked to. No wonder Thornton jumped him.

Two wrongs don't make a right. No one on the planet thinks Thornton was right for what he did.
BUT, we can see quite easily why he was provoked to do so. There is a "code" in hockey, no? If Orpik is this "classy" player that he is, he sends Loui to another planet, shouldn't a "classy" player answer for it by dropping his gloves...?!??
Instead, he doesn't and refuses and refuses. How many times have we seen when a player refuses to answer the "code" something stupid happens?
I'll say this, the Steve Moore incident would NEVER have happened if he answered Bert's invitation. But, nope. And voila...we are where we are today.
