If Australia wins and Brazil loses they'd be tied wth 6 points, then it would come down to goal differential...

I totally disagree. What do you consider "best athlete."
I brought in Roy Jones because last year we had discussion about Lance Armstrong and I brought up Roy. However, I thought I would be nice by just mentioning Roy Jones instead of someone like Mike Vick or Reggie Bush.

But don't forget that a lot of times a team like Brazil looks past squads like Croatia and Japan and they get a little cocky. The difference is that this time around doing that may come back to bite you in the ass where in the past very few teams could hang with them.

I have a feeling it will be all Brazil next half...

Hey I'll put up Reggie Bush against Thierry Henry anyday of the week in my comparision. My money is on Bush.

A fact? You're coming across as a fool, no offense. So your "best" athletes are the ones in sports that noone else in the world plays Oh wait, basketball is now a popular international sport. But didnt the US just get its ass handed to them in basketball? What factual data do you have to support your claim that these are the best athletes in the US?

With the size of your country, and wealth, you only need a small percentage of people to "Care" about soccer to put a cup contender on the field. Look at the czechs, a country of 10 million people. You are telling me the US cant beat them in soccer? Of course the US can, and likely will. But the reason they are not doing it right now is NOT because noone in the US cares about soccer. Thats just a cop out. Enough people do care, and you have a large talent pool and a good soccer organization. Some more experience and you guys will be cup contenders, but you just didnt have it this year.

Let me explain how things work in the US (and probably most countries ). You care about a sport AFTER you are good at it. Once the US has a cup contending team, then the average american, like you, will care. Because the avergae joe american only "cares" about sports they dominate. How many americans are watching the tour de france this year?

Do you believe that the US Soccer team isnt good because the all good athletes play football/basketball etc, or that soccer in general isnt as good because athletes flock to other sports?

agreed. And brazil could very well win the cup. But they are not this invincible team that some people make them out to be.
