damn i had a lot of reading to do this thread took off during the matches this afternoon, pages and pages.

so its pretty much been summed up for the US game, ref made a bad call, players didnt play all out aggressive in 2nd half and ghana is going thru to the next round... i would like to see who seriously picked ghana to make it out of the group. im sure there are some whackos who played the odds at a betting parlor.

anyways brazil busted out another lineup tonight and still dominated... i liked how japan scored first and then brazil decided oh shit, lets go on a scoring spree. ronaldo didnt even do anything and he scored a bunch. just turn and shoot haha

now looking forward to saturday and sunday with the elimination games for sure. deutschland deutschland über alles! (potential argentina germany 2nd round match, OH SHIT!!!)

I dont know if I would have put money on it, but I had a good feeling about Ghana and never really considered them a huge underdog. They were undefeated in qualifying.

My comments before the games kicked off:

Sucks that they have the games on at the same time like this... I liked it better when it was spaced out throughout the day.

I think all of the games in Group H mean something today, but Tunisia and Ukraine have the most at stake... win and they're in to the next round... so that's the one I have on now.

Ya it does suck for ther viewer. But they have to do it like that so that the teams dont know the results of the other game before they play.

Damn, terrible second yellow card/red card on Tunisia right before the half. These refs are waaaaay to quick with the cards this year.

I bunch them in with England, Argentina, Portugal and maybe the Netherlands. Teams who can definently win it all and I wouldn't be one bit surprised it they did, but IMO won't.

Luckiliy for Italy, the only team they would have to get by of all those mentioned is Germany or Argentina (semi's). They really lucked out with the draw.

Italy, Brazil, Spain

Somebody on here provided the original link yesterday.

Starting next Monday, espn.com's 360 will be free for a couple of weeks. We should be able to view the World Cup live on 360 when that happens.

I don't agree with germany looking strong, they have looked ok and good at times, their strongest showing as against a weak ecuador. they will have to improve to make it to the finals (if they pass this round they will most likely meet argentina)

I would somewhat agree with you. However, the Germans have home advantage, which is huge at the World Cup. That factor can't be underestimated. All previous home teams have done exceptionally well.

How in the world did France win the World Cup in 98?

I thought Italy would play Brazil in the semis if those teams advanced?

home advantage is a plus, and it certainly helped korea and france, but only becuase they played weaker teams on the way to the semis. germany will not have that luxury and will have to beat argentina in the quaters to advance to the finals. a holland vs germany game would be great though. that would be one hell of party.

A far from convincing performance by Spain. Yeah, this game didn't matter at all, but Spain looked flat after they scored the goal.

Good effort by Saudi Arabia.

^ Yeah, they looked very flat, however, they had a completely different lineup then usual. They played it safe since they were through to the next round win, lose, or draw...
