Matrix is also starting. A good reward for the goal he scored in the Czech match.

Nope, Nesta is hurt so the matress took his place. And Toni didn't start last game either but he got the start today.

All of a sudden the Italians are looking pretty good for the whole ball of wax. Even more frustrating, because the Americans played them straight up while a man down.

Italy is control, but as long as Australia hangs in there at 0-0 anything can happen. Just like when Italy got burnt against South Korea last time.

Same coach. He also led the Netherlands to the semi's in 98.

I have a feeling that Italy was looking past the US and the US took advantage of that. Had Italy been into that game and not looking forward to the Czech Republic I think the outcome would have been far different...

Matterazi (sp?) is gone. Announcers are ripping the ref saying it should have just been a yellow, not an automatic red...

What a BS call. Maybe a yellow, but not a red. It was from the front and its arguable that he went for the ball. Italy down to 10 and still zero-zero. It could be Australias lucky day.

They had to put in a defender since they lost Matrix and are a man down.

I get the feeling that the italians are trying really hard to draw a red out of the aussies to even things up.

^ haha, they are taking some dives. They should be careful they don't get flagged for diving b/c they have several yellows already.

and with 3+ minutes left in regulation... we may be looking at an exciting finish here!!
