I couldn't care less either way but I'd rather watch Spain-Brazil than France-Brazil.

Frenchies with flags invaded the Campustown bar where I had lunch, so I gave up and decided to cheer Spain on at home. And then I realize that whether French or Spanish, they're just kicking a damn ball around the field. Big whoop.

Zidane really got around on that ball, good eye on where to place it. Fooled the keeper as well

I thought he was gonna waste his chance the way he took dawdled with the shot on goal. Anyways, nice to see Zhou Zhou get on the scoresheet.

Since USA and Korea are out, looks like I'll be rooting for England the rest of the way. Portugal a close second since my best friend married a smokin' hot Portugese gal from Toronto.

Who else here thought that Henry faked the foul?

That was quite an upset. The first big upset of this World Cup Finals. Can't wait for Friday!

I don't know if you can call that a really big upset. Of course the Spanish team was playing really well up untill the round of 16 and the French team looked like they couldnt score. But you cant deny that the French have loads of talent everywhere on the field. With that said Brasil will beat them 3-1 maybe.

France beating Spain is not an upset at all IMO. They have some great players, they just have to learn to play together and finish their chances. When they have a good day, it's really hard to stop them. It's gonna be a good game against Brazil, I actually think that France can win it.

I thought that France was lucky to advance past the group stage. Now I actually think they could eliminate Brazil in the next match. Brazil is definitely beatable.

Once again, Spain crashes out after an impressive first match.

I wouldnt call it an upset. Ghana wooping the Czechs was a bigger upset IMO.

This has been the case with Spain since the beginning of time. They always look really impressive before the world cup (5-1 against Slovakia) and in the group stage (4-0 against Ukraine), but then for some reason it seems like they field a totally different side.

But anyone can lose to France really.

The Czechs were never a favorite to win the Cup. OTOH, at the end of the group stages, many people felt that Spain had a real shot at winning the whole thing. While France was left for dead.

Ya but the Czechs were huge favorites over Ghana. Whereas both France and Spain are World cup contenders IMO. I'm sure if you compare the vegas odds on those 2 game the Ghana win was more of an upset.

I think at the stage of hte tournament, there are no such things as huge upsets

Alessandro Nesta left Italy's first-round match against the Czech Republic with a thigh injury.

Nesta has been hampered by a right thigh injury for the last few months. He aggravated it in Italy's 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in the first round and missed Italy's 1-0 victory against Australia Monday in the Round of 16.

Nesta hopes to return to action if Italy makes the semifinal round.

"It's a lot better and I'm very confident I'll play again soon, but not for this game," Nesta said. "I'll do everything I can to play the next game."

Marco Materazzi replaced Nesta against Australia but picked up a red card after 50 minutes and will also miss the Ukraine game, leaving the starting job to the inexperienced Andrea Barzagli.

Italy should rest some starters against Ukraine. I don't think a lot can go wrong against them. They've looked really unimpressive.

Haha. That would be great. But I think he's busy playing Briscola in the seniors home.

He still plays for Milan. Should have been on the team.

I'm not important enough to fib my calendar.
