I dunno. I've been having probs with Comcast disconnecting me from the interwebz after DL'ing for too long. I have to reset my modem a couple times a day.

I don't use BC or eM though. I get all my songs using BitTorrent. Works good, but you can't pick and choose from a file package - just have to download the whole package and delete what you don't want. Doesn't bother me though. Can't have too many songs

I liked this one a lot

It's a good thing you can't tell how dirty my car was in that picture, I might have had to try and erase the evidence!

Hey, we should probably plan a meet pretty soon while it's still nice outside.
we should meet up somewhere, either do some minor stuff or just grill, and then go for a nice ride

Razzi - whats that rubbing compound you used for your headlights?

RTL - there are special compunds for buffing out your headlights. Pretty much any running compound, and a buffer would work though. (Don't need the buffer, but it will turn a 3 hour job into a 10 minute one)

If buffing doesnt do it (for deep stuff) then wetsand them.

I wet sanded my old prelude lights with 800 --> 1200 --> 2000 grit and then plastX.... then clear coated them and they looked really good.

Edit: are they glass or plastic?

You can't just sand them. I used a clear head light kit made by micromesh technologies. This company specialty is in the repair of Acrylic wind shields on aircraft. They made a kit for clear head lights which has buffing pands with grits up to 12,000.

WTF is up with AZ again? More than half of my pages only load partway, with some random ass scribble on the bottom of the pages before it decides to quit loading.

Grrrr.

Oh - and hopefully I can get my key cut and programmed tomorrow during my day off. Keeping my fingers crossed as there seems to be an awfully high failure rate of these things actually working. They do work, however it's getting someone to cut them accurately.

Many people found out the hard way that Acura does not cut their keys like most locksmiths (where you put the 2 keys together and trace them). Acura looks at your VIN and a machine cuts the key to OEM specs - but this is not an OEM key since it has been modified.

I'll let you know how it all goes

You can definitely get them crystal clear with just sand paper and a buffer. once you finish up with 2000 grit, they look hazy, so you have to finish up with a plastX buff. They will be perfectly clear beyond any non-machine assisted detection... aka the naked eye. The nice thing about wetsanding was that I finished two relatively large headlights (when the entire surface needed attention) in less than 2 hours.

The problem with plastic is this is not perminant fix (Jorge's kit or wetsanding). Plastic becomes hazy when in the elements and a protective coating is needed. If yours are hazing, its more than likely gone, and bare plastic will haze up again in possibly just weeks. The factory coating is super durable, but clearcoating works too. Not quite as strong, but almost. Mine still looked perfect a year later.

Also to get them really clear to where they almost looke waxed (what I eventually did later), wet sand and buff the clear coat also. Some people spend days doing this to an entire car after a paintjob to get that super smooth deep look.

The thing with Micromesh it comes with a special compound tha removes the haze from the wet sanding as you buff it. It leaves the surface crystal clear. Razzi had taken regular sand paper to his headlight and one application did a good job.

Eitherway you want to get the haze out because it will reduce how much light headlights can project.

I think its plastic when i knock on it, but what you guy think of our TL headlight plastic or glass?. when the light is on i hate to see the headlight with this haze from rockdamage. are you talking about clear coat can that use on the car from auto store?

anyways thanks you guys for your imput and ideas. i think im going to sand it with 2000 grit to be safe and use micromesh to buff it out and clear coat it. does it sound right? and jorge do they have the micromesh in any auto store? or i have to order it?

I dont believe that I've met him. If he is local and wants to meed other s2000 owners forward him this site:
http://forums.s2kca.com/forumdisplay.php?f=173

I'm on s2ki a ton, but our local planing is done on the link above, and just copied over to s2ki usually.

For the headlights, if there are some deep chips, it could take a fair amount of sanding to get them out. You could even consider spending 30 minutes to take the lights off the car to sand right to the edge easier. If not, make sure you tape up your paint near the lights so you dont scratch it... Also, I have a rotary buffer. If we did a shop day, I could definitely bring it.

Oh and fyi... theres like a million 'how to wetsand headlights' websites all over the internet, some with great DIYs with pictures.

OK.. I have to ask. What does owning an S2K and wanting to meet people have to do with going to the micromesh.com site? I think you got lost somewhere in the loop there T

As for cleaning the headlights - PM JNC (he's in my friends list if you need to find him easily). He is the one that cleared/ZKW my headlights, and now he is the vendor for the site. He is clearing headlights on a daily basis, and I can guarantee that he knows glass/plastic, and what to use. Check him out

Glow get with the program. He asked if he can purchase the micromesh kit at any store. I am replying that he can only get this through Micromesh. The lights are plastic not glass like he thinks. He can fix this easily himself it is not hard to do. Save some money.

By the way how is that KEY working for you? Is it done?

Going back I see now... but you quoted the wrong post...lol

As for the key - I was hoping to get it done today but I had a couple jobs come up this morning so I never got a chance to call around for a locksmith. Hopefully next week though. I'm guessing having it done on the weekend is going to be a wasted effort trying to find someone. But I have this weekend plus Mon-Wed off, so I'll have lots of time (if I'm in town). It's my 1 year and the wifey and I are thinking about going up to Duluth for a day, and maybe hitting the casino for a day to support our local indians with a $100 economic bailout.

^^Dang sorry to see that!

reminds me of my old car:

I got it fixed for $50 + a 3hr round trip drive to get a new fender. A moving truck with a similar metal pole thing hit my car when it was parked.

Are you going to try to fix it yourself? your insurance or his? Shouldnt be a hard fix at all (labor wise). Parts shouldnt be too bad either except maybe the hood and that wiring harness if its destroyed. If you find a fender and bumper of the same color car, then a headlight from a junk yard it shouldnt be too bad. Doesnt look like any of the core parts took any impact.

Thanks for the words boys. I'm fine but my baby isn't too happy. Insurance is working it out, I'm not doing the work cause I don't have the skill or the time and I want her looking good as new. Nothing really got hurt mechanically.

On the bright side of this (if possible), she is getting 2003 blackhoused headlights (WOOT!) and I am going to try and go with a CF hood if it makes sense economically - I might have to pay for that from my own pocket somewhat but we'll see.

I'll keep you posted as I find out more details once the shop gets under the proverbial hood.

I bet you'll get a CF hood and still make some loot. Think about what a hood costs + prep and painting, vs straight up CF hood. I think you'll do OK.

BTW - putting my Aspec on tomorrow. Yeah.

On a side note - anyone hear about that big accident in Blaine on 65 and 83rd? 3 car accident. Drunk driver rear ended a friend of mine's sister-in-law, killed her boyfriend, and she will be getting out of the hospital tonight I think. Not sure about anyone else in the other vehicles. I do know only 1 fatality, and that was her boyfriend. My friend is having a kegger tonight, hopefully everything works out in the end. Not to sound selfish, but when she arrives - I hope everything is cool and people show their respect and everyone has a good time. Nothing worse than getting your sad drunk on.

Did that last Saturday for Natasha Waalen. She was the girl from Anoka that was murdered by her boyfriend (made it look like a motorcycle accident). Everyone went up to Grumpy's after the funeral. Not the best time I've ever had at a bar. Half the place was hugging and crying. I just kind of wandered around and looked after people.

Now that i think of it... it's been kind of a shitty week. Maybe my Apsec will put me in a better mood.

A woman who admitted she had consumed more than six drinks the night she was involved in a car crash that killed a Minneapolis man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide, according to a criminal complaint filed in Anoka County District Court.

Jennifer Bevelry Swanson, 19, told investigators that she had been drinking vodka at a party and did not remember driving north on Hwy. 65 the night she allegedly rear-ended another car stopped at a traffic light at NE. 93rd Lane in Blaine, the complaint said.

A passenger in the car that was hit, identified as Bradley Fragua Lyver, 29, died at the site. The driver of that car, Tamera Lynn McBain, 33, was injured. Two 58-year-old men in a third car also were hurt, according to a Blaine police report.

Swanson, of Oglivie, Minn., was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

According to the complaint, a witness said that she saw Swanson's car traveling 85 to 90 miles per hour as it approached the intersection about 1 a.m. Sunday and that the vehicle's brake lights never came on before the crash.

Officers and paramedics who rendered aid to Swanson noticed a "strong odor of alcohol on her breath and empty wine cooler bottles inside her vehicle," the complaint said.

In an interview, investigators asked Swanson if she had more than five or six drinks. Swanson said she had started drinking at 9 p.m. and "had more than that," the complaint said.

If convicted, Swanson faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $6,000 to $20,000 or both.

I'll post pictures. Seriously... it will make you hold you're breath and say holy shit. The right rear passanger side wheel is literally where the passanger was. You'll see.....
