Man - do I feel like a post whore today.

So, I'm pretty sure I've got my old tails sold for $50, but no takers on the sides. I think we should come up with some sort of mod for them. Maybe install them in the trunk for some lighting? Too bad I don't have the type S interior lighting. I like my blues better, but if it was reed, I'd mount them under the dash for lighting.

Come on guys - need some help here. It doesn;t even have to be something for my car. We could even crack open the light and see what we have to work with. I dont think it's LED "bulbs" that we can use, I think it's a strip of LEDs on a board - so you'd essentially have 2 strips to use.

Wonder what voltage they are... hmmm

I wouldn't say 'ripped', it was .2 seconds but he got a DNF on the lap so it didn't count anyway. He'll have plenty of chances to beat me in the next few events, but I am happy to be the benchmark at least while it lasts.

That's a good question. Jorge, you feel like hosting another event? Maybe now that it is nice out we can BBQ at the lake or somewhere else? There are a lot of BBQ areas on the riverfront area near my place, or we can just use the rooftop grill and stare at the skyline.

There aren't any races until the 1st, so we have some time to kill. I'm willing to volunteer my place as a location, we just have to make certain there aren't any Twins games on the day of the meet.

Just checking out the Twin Cities scene. I'm looking to switch from an 06 Mazda 6s to an 04 TL. It sucks cause I'm waiting till I have my 06 fully paid off before I trade it in and that wont be until July 4th weekend. So until then I'll be reading the forums with envy. Just thought I'd say what up. Also does any know how many miles an 04 should have on it? Thanks ahead of time.

Average mileage on any car is 15K per year. So, if you are looking at an 04, anything with less than 60K is less than average. If you find one that is roughly 48K or lower then it was most likely coming off a lease and was (usually) taken care of.

Wait a minute, Blackura is actually going to show up to a meet?

Hey - I think we should take the LED's out of the red plastic housing, and we can use it for under-pedal lighting on blacura's car. Maybe run the wires up behind the pedal post, and you wouldn't even notice they were there.

What's everyone up to next Friday? It's the first Friday Night Destruction at raceway aprk. I can't remember for sure, but I think it's either $12 or $14 - starts at 7:30, but I usually get there around 6:30-7.

I don't remember all of the races they have, but I know it includes figure 8's and flagpole races. If you don't know what the flagpole races are - they are my favorite and you dont know what your missing.

Imagine barrell races in horse competitions - just like that, but with cars. If you dont see rodeos much either - there is a barrel in the middle of the figure 8 track. Each car has to complete a circle around the barrel before continuing on to the next lap. So eventually cars get seperated and you get guys coming at the barrell doing 60 trying to do the circle, while you have others actually completing their circle doing 5-10 and trying to get the hell out of the way of everyone else thats flying into their "zone"

Probably sounds dumb the way I just explained it, but this may also help clarify how fun it is - they have beer.

hahaha that sounds cool i'm down.

And on the led boards - the LEDs themselves will be red too, not just he housings. That might clash with blacura's theme if he is not doing red. Good idea though

Eh - I knew it was one way or the other...lol

So who's gonna do red? Maybe we can make someones car into the Kitt car, minus the trans-am part, and the leds won't move. How sweet would that be.....

Wonder if they could be modified to fit into the tail light housing so I could have LED turn signals instead of the LED tails with regular ol' turn signals? I would think it would be pretty tough though, unless I wanted to remove the tails again and start hackin.

Nah

So it sounds like the wife will be coming with on Friday. I don;t know who I spilled the beans to first. Technically I was checking on the races for her, but I told you guys before her..lol So I guess we're all going.

Yep - 16th at 7:30 (start time) - probably leave 6:00-6:30. Should we all meet up and roll out, or just meet there since we're all from different necks of the woods?

All the ack-ladies can talk about how lonely it is when we all leave to goto the garage, and then they all will start to complain about how they never get to drive.

May not be good...lol. Good thing there's the beer factor.

I guess there is a miller lite patio that people can get if you have a big enough party. I should check on that for the future. That way we can sit in our own little area with tables and chairs, instead of on bleachers. I bet they get waitresses too. Or some VIP line to the beer garden or something..lol

Well - gotta go. It's the wifes birthday and we gotta go get some grub.

Talked to the wife, after this past weekend at the Auto-X, I don't think I am going to get her to a track again anytime soon. I would say that I would do the LEDs, but I am working on getting some decent tires for the next autocross and all money is going that way.

For those of you that have not signed up, it is awesome, I can't tell you enough about how much fun it is. You get to legally, and in a safe environment, totally hoon your ride, how can this NOT be fun?

I have to agree with Josh. I am thinking of buying a ride just to autoX.

Dang - the snow melts and people start coming out of the woodwork. Welcome aboard.

Besides the races at raceway park next friday (16th) - it sounds like a couple people are waiting for parts before we set a day aside for a meet.

So josh - does that mean you don't think you'll be coming to the races, or does that mean we will have less women asking us questions the whole time? lol

That I am not certain about. I am supposed to be going to a party that night, but you can all rest assured I am not going to the party. It would be a serious faux pas to strangle the birthday girl at her own party, wouldn't it?

I'm down for a meet before then if anyone else is up for it. I have something going on this Saturday, but other than that I am free and clear. I need to wash and polish the ride, but I usually do that on Saturdays anyway.

Jorge, glad to see you got the bug. You should see Dan and I's tires, they are completely shredded, much more so than when you saw them at the end of Saturday. From what I understand, the surface at Valley Fair is much more abrasive and hard on tires than all the other tracks we go to, so it shouldn't be too terribly bad for the rest of the season. That said, I am still looking for some new tires!!

Razzi, are TRYING to get me divorced? While I like the way you are thinking, and appreciate the effort to find a deal like that, it would require me to either install a tire changing machine in my spare bedroom (not gonna happen) or buy an extra set of wheels for the TL.

I would love to run slicks and go from zero to hero, but I have to get tires that I can install, race on, and drive on all summer. So, it is going to be an interesting balancing act to get the ride comfort I (she) want, and still have the quick turn-in, fast cornering, and grip that I want.

You can come and put new front brakes on my CL-S and install the front license plate bracket after giving it a quick coat of shinny black while I sit back and supervise.

No immediate plans for this weekend - sounds like waiting on parts.

Unfortunately I think I'm out either way. I got some stuff to do this weekend, and it ends up Friday is my only day to get running around done. Saturday I've got an annual spring kegger at the in-laws house. Sunday I've got to go shopping for mothers day lol

Oh - and no more jokes for you guys. Didn't even last for 2 minutes before someone got it

Hey guys, just joined the site a couple days ago, and I just found this group..
I dont have much expertise with cars, but I am looking to mod my 99 tl as much as possible, and help out others while learning what im doing..
I live in st. paul, and think it would be sick to get together and help each other out and stuff..

Just a quick question, how did your TL handle this winter just past (07-08)? Are there any particular problems you guys run into driving during the winter? This winter (just past) was my first MN winter (and what a doozy), and my 06 Mazda 6s always felt lose on the road. Basically I'm just trying to check if I should look into getting an 04-05 G35 with AWD or stick with the lovely beast that is the 3g TL. I know this is the Acura forums but I don't think it hurts to ask the people who have driven the Acura in the snow.
Thanks ahead of time for any advice.
