Aren't there group buys on A-Spec kits all the time through Tim? Maybe I'm missing something, but I think WB just doesn't want to deal with it.

So I am really strongly considering buying the Tanabe cat back someone is selling on the BM. It is technically for a TL, and from what I have read the tips will stick out somewhat on the CL. I am not sure how much it would cost a muffler shop to modify things so it looks right (might have to move hangers too...not sure). Do you guys think it is worth the trouble? The CL-specific exhaust looks like it retails for anywhere between 700 and $780 online plus shipping. The dude on the boards is asking $660 shipped. Do you think modifying it would cost more total than buying the CL spec one?

Get the CL one

It's gonna cost more than $100 to have an exhaust shop move the mounts and adjust the tips

Edit: Just noticed the shipping. It very well may be worth calling around then.

Shit, I just threw it out there, but it looks like people want to get together on Sunday. We'll have to make certain Razzi stays home on Friday since it seems he can't hold his liquor.

I am (of course) partial to Minneapolis, but I know there are TONS of cool spots around the cities, maybe something on the riverfront in St Paul? Is there a park that we could go to and BBQ or something? Maybe Minihaha Falls at 55 and 62? (never been there)

We should pick someplace in the middle - like Spring Lake Park

Anyplace is cool with me. If we pick a park, I can bring some boche ball.

Oh, and I owe Dan a strongbow. Those aren't too bad. They are a kind of dry cider (but I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you that - I think it actually saya dry cider on the can if I remember right).

i am for sure down for a meet this weekend. I'd like to get an alignment before in case we go cruising but if not it won't be the end of the world.

I like your new avatar Ken, is that the House of Razzi?

Oh, and more people need to sign up for the autocross! Ken man get on it - you've got coilovers, and your power disadvantage will be made up for by your lower mass than me and Josh (driverly speaking).

I think I've been having a blonde moment for some time now then...lol

It appears that I put the wrong person with the wrong car when we met. Josh - you're too much of a go-getter and I thought Dan's car was yours when you guys came over that first time to lower the car.

So.. now I got it. Almost hate to admit that 6 months later I finally know who everyone is...lol

(kind of like how I thought it was blackura from blaine at my house last time until I realized he had a 2G)

What do you guys think of these wheels:

(cheap, but 18s with the proper offset)

Those would look nice, but how much do they weigh? I have gone down the road of putting wheels on my cars, and have been miserable when they are heavy and slow me down.

Jorge, did you tell Dan about those wheels you saw at the wheel store for a massive discount? Were they for a TL?

Also, I am told that there is a 70% chance of snow this week, so I am thinking that a meet on Sunday is not a real good idea to meet in a park. Maybe we should wait for the Twin Cities BBQ until it is consistently warmer outside? Then we can spend a little more time planning. Maybe even go to a Saints game and tailgate? As Razzi is always wont to 'roll 20 deep' into some place, why not a Saints game?

Man, Glow, I just don't know what to say. When it came to Dan's suspension I was just the guy that had done that kind of work before.

yeah I have been hunting around the internet for the weight. If they are within shouting distance of the stockies I might just go for it. Ebay lists a shipping weight of 30 pounds. Do you know what the stocks weight? Anyone?

Those are great wheels Dan they would look great with your car specially since they are gold and your car is black you cant beat the price either.

Josh is mentioning a set of Koneigs five spoke rims I saw at discount tires in Maplewood. the center hub had honeycone in black and as part of the hub the center of each spoke was Carbon fiber. I can't remember the name but they were 18" and looked Sick. Priced at $175.00 per Rim but I am sure they would be negotiable

Oh I've seen those before. The greyish pieces actually are removable and you can replace them with different colors (red, yellow, and blue as far as I know). Kinda cool but I am not sure how good they would look on the CL - it's kind of big so I think it needs either thicker 5 spokes or more spokes...they might look hot if they were 19s though.

I don't know if you are going to be able to fit 19s under your car without rubbing. Besides, 19s on your car and you wouldn't even want to ride in it on MN roads. You need a little more tire to give you a bit more suspension.

But, I think those would look pretty nice on the CL.

Man... I really hate tempting offers that are too good to be true, and you really know that you can't.

I'm talking about an '04 S/C in the black market for $3200 shipped. Sounds like it is brand new (less than 50 miles I think it said). Pics all show that it is clean and clear. Comes with 2 filters, and 2 ECU's (one is reflashed)

Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn

I could always just throw it on a card and put it on in secret. By the time the wife found out, it would be too late. I could always tell her I just got a new air filter..lol

Anyone know how much / how hard it would be to put on? I'm guessing for something like that I would want a shop or mechanic to do it. That seems like a little more than I want to chew off in my garage.

But Damn Damn Damn Damn Damn.... Checked comptech's website, and its good for 60-65 HP it says. $50/HP sounds like a hell of a deal to me.

Cheapest I could find anywhere else was $4400. Even the GB here on the site (back in '05) was selling them for $3995

I can't though. I'm still 15-20k in debt with credit cards and such from the wedding and prior "I-gotta-have-that's". Someone.... please either talk me into it or tell me that I'm making the right choice and I'll find another one in 2-3 years. I still have full warranty until 2011 (or another 40k miles). Maybe that is my best logical reasoning I can think of.

i dunno brian, you're starting to bite off more than you can chew lol. course i'd like to see a super charger, but still, 3200 isnt something you should be sneakin around with. then again, my paycheck comes out to about 400 bucks lol, maybe to you grown ups, 3200 isnt a big deal

those are the konig hotswaps, i'd never really liked them too much, the thin spokes looks really uneven on our rather large cars. i'd check out the axis hiros dan. or this http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/pts/634756985.html

Don't do it. There will be another opportunity later.

If you can't pay cash, skip it. And, if you have the cash, pay off some of that debt.

I would also invest in your suspension before you go adding a supercharger.

+1 to my doppleganger. When we were racing, we would see the largest drop in lap times from better suspension equipment. Adding 10HP didn't make as much of an impression as revalving the forks or putting on a new shock.

Yea... you all make some valid points. Those axis shines are da bomb. Hey - are those basically hiro's, except chrome? I'll have to investigate.

Last time I needed tires, I emptied my change jar and came up with like $400 to put down. I've already been saving for about 6 monthes now, and I'm going to get new rims the next time I need tires.

Then maybe a-spec? We'll see though - can't get too far ahead in mods. End up getting rid of the car before half of the stuff is done. I'm hoping not - my plans are to keep this car, and if I need something else, I will just have 2 cars.

The spokes are wider than what they look in the photo. If you see them in CARBON FIBER you would have a second thought. Put your car in TIRE RACK .com and slap them on and see then.

The Hiros and Shines are completely different in my opinion.....but on a SSM, it would almost seem redundant. Brian, what about something in Gloss Black, Gunmetal or HyperBlack??
