You don't need 3" pipes, 2.5" will be plenty. I have a 100 horsepower on you and my car comes with 2.5". As far as SS or Aluminum, it doesn't really matter except that aluminum could potentially pit and corrode from salt in the winter. I would most likely go with the SS and have it last a bit longer.

i don't see why not, always fun to get as many cars as possible.. but it sounds like this is more of a run to winona and back, not so much the cookout and like slow drive around the lake to have people check us out

Hey Josh - got a question that might be right up your alley.

Basically I'm looking at digitizing my entire CD collection to my PC, and purchasing some sort of direct network, or wireless device to play the music through my stereo in the living room.

Thinking of something similar to this http://soundbridge.roku.com/soundbridge/index.php

Now keeping in mind that this is just an example, and I've done no real research for my solution yet (before you go harping on me about what a piece of shit this is when I've just heard of it, never read on it) - But this is all besides the point at the moment.

Basically - does anyone know anything about music and compression? I've done some research into Windows Lossless, high quality MP3's, WAV's and AIFF files. Since they are all different formats - I cannot find anything in lamons terms to compare them at all.

I know that AIFF is the actual CD track, WAV and Lossless are supposed to be "duplicates" and MP3's above 128 are "supposed" to be just as comparable. But depending on which site you go to - you'd think I asked who should be our next president or something. Everyone seems to be all or nothing to 1 specific format, and i can't get any constructive information about it.

I mean... if I have an MP3 at 320kbps, how does that compare to lossless? Is there a way to put them in the same bracket at all? Is lossless considered 320? 580? 19000? This is what I cannot figure out. Once I have all of this sorted out - then I have to figure out if you can even wirelessly stream anything of decent audio quality.

So.... anyone have anything to add or tell me about?

My understanding is if the CD is ripped at 320kpbs - it's NEAR perfect to CD quality. Obviously higher is better but why do more when you dont need to?

As for wireless streaming you will have to host the music off something typically an external hdd, a standalone music pc, a nas perhaps and then you will need to play it off something. Commonly used is a laptop or a small form factor PC.

Hope this sheds some light - I know it's vague but it's very possible!

That does help somewhat, and i have learned a little more today as well. Maybe not exactly what I'm looking for, but it helps to know the technology part as well when making a decision.

Basically it sounds like it would be either between the Roku Soundbridge, or the Squeezebox Dual (Duo?)

Roku - Plug and play, runs off media software (i.e. iTunes or WMP), as a set-top display similar to something you'd think "XM'ish" - $130

Squeezebox - Needs a music server and software to run (not plug and play, but could potentially be more flexible), has a full color wi-fi remote that displays album info/artwork, no display at the site of the tuner. - $400

I'm basically looking to come up with a reasonable solution for playing music on my home stereo. I have found there are $2000 squeezeboxes that are hi-fi and have true recording connections - but that's more than I need. I want good sound quality at a loud volume which is why I'm curious about sound quality. But I don't have a 10k system at home either (I've probably got over 2k into it though, so it's not exactly an Aiwa bookshelf system either)

Anyone else? lol. I know this is lengthy - but when I set my sights on something, I tend to get a little carried away with making sure I make the right decision the first time.

Seriously dude, WHAT. THE. FUCK. is 'bleh' You use it like a Valley Girl uses the word 'like' and it doesn't even mean anything other than you not being able to come up with anything even remotely resembling a thought.
[/rant]

So, Glow, to answer your question, I have always ripped my MP3s at 192kbps because that is the sweet spot for max compression and best sound. 320 is considered as good as you can get for mirroring CD quality, but at that point, why bother ripping it?

As for playing it back on your home stereo, just build yourself a small machine, hook it up to your receiver with audio and video, then install boxee or something like that on it. Windows media center edition is also supposed to be pretty good. You can put a shitload of storage in there so that you can have as much music/movies as you can stand, and you're done for a few hundred dollars. I would recommend a good video and audio card to make certain that the sound quality is good, but you can do all of that for pretty cheap.

I personally run my home theater on a Mac Mini with a firewire to Dolby 5.1 converter and I love it. I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that I use to control it and I have often watched shows on Hulu, ripped movies, use it as a music server for parties, etc. It is probably the single most useful input to my home theater.

If you're doing pulleys I'm in, cause I have one that needs to go on my TL too!! I was planning on doing my RSB and replacing the air filter this weekend along with a wash and wax. Assuming I have time for all that and the other projects around my house!

Hopefully next week sometime. Costco has a pretty good deal that comes very close to the prices online - and I'll have a place to bring it if something happens.

Plus they have a package with an additional len (55-200IS)

I would appreciate if you would add me to the list for the August 16th meet. I took that day off from work to make sure I would be able to attend. White Heat will be in attendance showing off the new round of modifications I just installed! Gotta rep Acura, especially the CL's

I finished fourth in class, but I was not at all happy with my times since I didn't really improve throughout the day. I did find out that I was hitting about 80 on that bend to the downhill just after the long slalom, which was a serious pucker-moment with the grass right there.

I don't feel like I got a single good run in all day, I was always behind in that slalom coming up the hill, just shitty. I did find out why I felt that way though, the guy that designed the course did some really mickey-mouse shit, making the cones closer as you got toward the end of the slalom. If you were trying to extend your straight you would end up screwing yourself since you would then be going too fast.

I got 37th overall in PAX (meaning I was the 37th fastest driver if you take the car out of the equation) and 10th in street tire (including all classes).

Anyway, thanks for the compliment, I'm still too pissed about the result to really be nice about anything...

Hey guys. just an update for teh August 16th cruise. It seems to be only G/Zs and the Acuras, so pretty subtle. Also looks like a few new Acura guys that might join your club (friends of G guys that are tagging along.)

So far there are 17 people signed up total, 5 being Acuras.

From this forum i have:
5. Jorge (Takata 18) - 04 TL
6. Matt (Slepybear) - 99 TL
7. Razzi (Razzi) - 99 TL
13. Travis (Carmodifier) - '01 Acura CL

Does that look about right? Anyone else that wants to attend, let me know. it is a meet/cruise and they have a route planned out down to Zumbrota and stuff on some twisty roads.
