experiment, it's the whole point of cooking. Try mixing things that compliment each other. It can be way out there, but who cares? If it tastes bad, start over. Best way to learn.

The brisket was a complete and total failure tonight......We ended up eating at a local pizza joint.

Here is the mistake I made....Kroger was out of fresh cut brisket, so I picked up a bagged brisket. It said it was corned beef brisket. The butcher, if you can call him that, said it had not been seasoned. The seasoning packet was in there and sealed off. So I used this cut. Well, it turns out it had not been externally seasoned, but it had internally. It was pink and nasty...............

I will do this again tomorrow, as I am still craving brisket. I have made this recipe before and it is great. Just by the right cut.

I am so pissed off right now.

For the third time in this thread: Can someone tell me how to get my pics to appear larger in the thread?

lets not get too crazy with the recipes, start a recipe thread (or use the 30 others)... let's keep this semi-on-topic "What's for Dinner?"

that said, thanks for the reeses recipe Jen. that's dinner tomorrow

Was lazy tonite...cooked up some pea sprouts with some sesame oil and then added some course seasalt. That took a whole 5 minutes (from wash to finish).

And then, had 2 cubes of tofu cut up into slices and served with some light soya mixed with some Sambal Oelek chili...that took a whole 2 minutes.

Brown rice.

<--- was lazy tonight also. I was in the city this afternoon, so I ended up just eating dinner at a place called Cafe Delle Stella in San Fran. It was delicious. I had gnocci and a nice fume blanc from Grigch Hills winery.

My friend actually looks a whole lot better since switching some major components of her diet. Mind you, she also had some non-vegan related health issues that were eliminated by not eating refined sugar and wheat/gluten products. I've known her for 15 years and she's always been tall and really thin. For the first time in over 15 years, she's actually GAINED weight, has more energy, a better complexion, and feels a whole lot better. Some of those things might not be directly related to her change in diet, but the weight gain and more energy can be directly attributed. She looks, feels, and is very healthy. She is very conscious of eating a very well-balanced meal every day and makes 95% of the things she eats (non-processed/packaged stuff).

IMO, you can't just switch or eliminate things in your diet (vegan/vegetarian) without researching how to replace those vitamins and nutrients. She's done a very good job at knowing the alternatives and making sure she gets enough of what she needs each day.

If you're using imageshack.us, which you should be IMO, you can resize the resolution, by unchecking the box and selecting what ever you want.

I tried your pad thai recipe today, Yumchah. I changed a few things around tho; omitted the peppers and added chicken and red pepper flakes. I think my noodles might have went stale since the last time I made pad thai, because I could not for the life of me get them to be soft enough. They were soaking for over an hour! I had no problems with them the first time, so I guess I didn't seal the package good enough.

The flavor was great tho, the red pepper added a nice bite. Definitely better than the 1st recipe I tried, and I'll be making it again! Thanks!

I like them with bread crumbs... but Panko... not the canned "italian bread crumb" crap.

"Fresh" bread crumbs work too, or even crackers... I know of alot of people who use crushed Saltines on their crab cakes.
