I was confused by it as well, but quite a few of the recipes I found all involved biscuits. Apparently it's a southern thing
These had more sugar than regular biscuits too; both in the dough and sprinkled on top with a milkwash. I can't have strawberries, so I made a variation with blueberries for myself last night. I enjoyed it, and my fiance really liked the strawberry version.

I definitely prefer the norther shortcake version. I have found a few southern places that make it like that but they do it in a muffin tin to make it similar size to the biscuit version.

Not sure why I decided I had a couple extra hours to spare with a newborn at home, but I made homemade lasagna last night. I mixed in fresh basil from my garden, and fresh garlic with a container of ricotta and a cup of mozz
I used ground turkey, with more garlic and some yellow onion
Boiled the noodles and started the layers
1st layer done
All layered and ready for oven
And the finished product, it was a lot of work and in hindsight I probably should have made 2 and froze 1, but oh well, it was delicious. It's been too hot to grill or use the smoker, so this was a yummy dinner and leftovers for tonight

Damn that looks good but yeah I bet that was a lot of work. At least you will have left overs for a couple nights to recoup some time.
