Yea the lines will start like 2-3 days in advance thats crazy. I still think sony should wait till they have more units built before they launch PS3. Oh well that day will be crazy even more fights and messed up things going down.

I'm with Stapler on this...if it were just a mere 6 hours, I'd be in line. No question.

I think they should wait to, or should have at least upped production a little bit more. They think they can't afford to wait though. They won't have sufficient units to not sell out till early next year.I was
when I read sony's PR guy saying that they would have 2 mil units by the end of the year, they may not be boxed or even on their way to the stores yet, but they will have been produced, or something along those lines.

Cuz.
I'm weak-minded. And a dummy-dum-dum.
I'll come on here to rant when I get herpes from it after I buy it.

The new system will be available with two different hard-drive options in Japan and the United States in November 2006 and in Europe and Australasia in March 2007. The later date for the European and Australasian launches (as well as those planned for Russia, the Middle East, and Africa) has been blamed on delays in blue laser diode production.
So it looks like they're delaying the release in Europe and Australasia by 5 months so that the US and Japan will have plenty of units available at launch and through the holidays. So honestly, because of that, I don't think it will be so bad here beyond the normal new system launch hype you see for any console...

Walmart didnt care at all... It was complete pandamonium. So yeah. Thats the other reason I refuse to wait in line.

I dont want to spend the 600 bucks on a PS3 and have to buy another later down the road...

And i walked into sears at 10:45 for a new socket wrench and thought aw what the hell lets check and see and they had them sitting there. No standing in line for me

i pounded the HELL out of my PSX, used to play that thing about 5-10 hours a DAY if you averaged out both weekend and weekdays. I had no issues. Had no issue with PS2, but I know people who did.
I am preordering one for my brother very soon, and will be incredibly pissed if it breaks down.

Well the cd reader evetually broke down and wouldnt read any discs. But I still have dreamcast and it has never broke. I hope PS3 is very durable unless they make it break within 3 years so you have to buy a new slimmer version.

No one around here is doing pre-orders yet. From what I've heard some of the chains may start taking pre-orders in mid-October... but no one has decided on that yet. So as of right now there's no place doing pre-purchases....

At an EB Games nearby me, their policy is that if you pre-order a game, you are put on a waitlist to preorder the system. As soon as they get your's, you come and pay the rest.
^ Odd, both EB Games and GameStop here said corporate has not decided whether or not to offer pre-purchases on the system until after their manager meetings which are either the first or second week of October. I checked with corporate and they both confirmed. That means that no stores are offering pre-purchases since they are all controlled by corporate and all stores in each chain follow the same policies.
So unless you have a hookup there that will put one aside for you if they choose not to do pre-purchases... you'll be waiting in line like everyone else. If they do choose to offer pre-purchases on the system, then you can put money down on it and avoid any hassles...

from the link above....

Extra note: Be prepared that the day-1 prices will be much higher than the manufacturers suggested retail price. Experienced and veteran hardcore gamers, who are not importing a system for the first time, know that buying a PS3 at launch or a PSP at launch is not the same thing as simply buying a mere PlayStation 3 or a random PSP off some supermarket shelf. You're paying for the privilege of getting it two months before the massive overflow. Especially with the long forecasted shortages (only 100.000 units for Japan at release date), MasterCard would call that 'priceless'. There is never enough of the good stuff on a launch day, and Lik Sang is required to pay premium pricing to get earlybird stock in sufficient levels for everybody. We can only extend these offers to you during the first couple of months, while waiting for the market to stabilize. But that's the beauty of the No Money Down Special Pre-Order system, you can always ignore day-1 prices and wait for a few more days, a few more weeks, or even several months, until the price goes down to an acceptable level. Without ever losing your pre-order position!
