hmm yea i saw some gameplay of it...never been a fan of cooldown. in d2 i could see where spamming frozen orbs require cooldown but swapping skills now requires it? meh...

 

There is a cooldown when you change out spells as you are only allowed to have 1-4 and your right and left mousebuttons keybound. Just recently they made it so that you could change the skills anywhere in the world, hence the cooldown. Prior to this new patch, you were only able to change your skills when you went to town.

They made the cooldown so that people couldn't abuse GCD's.

I was playing it last night and there is no hinderance with that. Its only a 1 min. CD or so. Not a huge deal.

With this current patch, they made changes to the way skills are given out. Say you get a base skill at level 5. At level 9 or so you can apply a rune to that skill. Each skill has their own runes. There are 5-6 runes per skill. Each rune will modify that specific spell.

For instance, I was leveling a Wizard last night. My main starting spell was an arcane bolt. At level 5 or so, I was able to add a rune to that spell. That rune was to increase the damage of the arcane bolt. The next rune was unlocked a few levels later would add an explosion factor to the arcane bolt. You can only have 1 rune applied at a time.

So far, i'm pumped for this game. The monks are soooo much fun to play.

 

I think I'm going to play the monk as my first character........then the demon hunter after that.

I just like in your face classes.... when playing shooters I prefer having a shotgun and running around.

 

haha I like that sometimes, but after all those years of call of duty, I was sick of it. For RPG style games, I prefer hanging back and watching the damage done in spectacular fashion

I am pretty pumped.. I can't wait till getting to play passed the first act with my monk. The first act is a lot of fun, but can get kind of boring after the first 25 times or so.

I'll be getting the game for free the day it comes out. Unfortunately I was blinded by the free diablo 3 when they rolled out the Annual Pass for WoW.... In hindsight, probably not the best idea as I only play WoW about 1-2 times a week now.

 

If you're talking about the Beta, then that was only a small part of Act 1. So you pretty much still have the rest of Act 1 to still play


I'm monking it up for my first run too! Was gonna do DH but it seems like everyone is gonna do that so I'll just switch it up with Monk.

 

Yeah, that's what I was talking about.. There are only so many times you can kill the skeleton king before it gets old.

I hear about all this love for the DH, but honestly, I don't see it.. It really isn't a lot of fun to play IMO. I got bored of playing him real fast.

I think DH and Barbarian will be the 2 most popular classes out of the gate. I already have 2 people in my release date group that are fighting over who gets to be Barbarian. Silly but 15 years of waiting......no compromises!

How did you order the collector's edition? I was going to do that and it said it can't be ordered at the moment.

I did it via Amazon. I missed it the first time around, but by random chance found they restocked it yesterday so I just placed one. They prob will restock it again sometime before launch........but if you can't wait or don't want to take a chance: Target, WalMart, etc... still have them available for pre-order


I usually play ranged character too but decided to mix it up this time around since DH would be too common on first run.

I decided a while back not to play the beta since I knew if I did, I'd hate the beginning when I have to play through it again on retail. This way, I'm surprised and enjoying the excitement just like back in the day with D2

My business laptop should be able to run it on low at least, so this should be fun... Always trust Bilzzard to make their stuff awesome on low end spec machines.

 

I can't wait. I think I will be a monk. I just hope they have cool different acts. I hated act 1 in D2.

It's not the whole game that you get to play though.. It only takes me about an hour or so to reach the end of the beta.. I get to around level 9-10 or so. That's why it doesn't really bother me to play the beta. And even if you do get sick of it, its only an hour or so out of the entire game. Not that big of a deal. I have been playing the beta to try and figure out what my "main" will be..

I actually got a DH to level 11 and it def. got funner and you progressed and got more skills. Previously, I was only getting to about level 3 or so before deleting them because of how boring it was. I still think the monk will be my "main".

As far as computer specs go. I have an Intel E8300 with 6 gigs of ram with an nvidia GTX 460 and I can run the game at full settings with no gittering or lag. D3, is def. not a hard (specs wise) game to run.

Though since I got the CE, I won't be able to do a midnight run..oh well, more sleep is always good. I'm just glad I got some buddies that are not gonna rush it and enjoy everything together.


I know the length of the beta, but had I gotten it, then I would be replaying that stretch too much and ruining it for me when it actually counts. I prefer to experience it fresh. No point rushing.

Or you could just have them send it to your home.

I don't know. It depends on the stores in your area. As for release date delivery, I know Best Buy does not do that. Walmart ships them out on the 15th and not sure about the rest. As for the rest of the stores, you'd have to check their site. You could try smaller electronics stores like Blockbuster (if theres still any around you)?

Or just keep checking Amazon every day to see if they got stock back and immediately order it....... or wait and get this to keep you entertained while it gets delivered.

And another way of getting the game is that just purchasing it through battlenet. The upside of this is that they allow you to download the game RIGHT NOW. And I guess you can install the game at the Midnight.

But they only let you do this for the regular game, not the collector's edition.

 

No idea on how good the book is, but it seems to be both an artbook and a lore book..... I'm thinking about grabbing it just for some reading before next month. Plus, it would look fancy sitting on my shelf

Gamestop/EBgames stopped taking CE pre-orders a long time ago. You might check your local one and see if the guy there can help you out though.

11 years is a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna buy the same game twice just so I can play it at midnight LOL. I'll wait my turn and avoid early server hangups.
