PS3: Gran Turismo 5 **11/24/2010 Release Date (page 33)**
#3961
Guys, help me out. I'm at level 26 A-Spec and level 27 B-Spec. What's the fastest way to get the X2010 given that I have at most maybe 1 hour of play per day?
Is it faster to keep playing at that rate on A-Spec and get to level 30 (and if so, which races?) or should I run endurance races on B-Spec 24/7 and (I heard, don't know if it's true) get the X2010 for free at level 35?
For A-Spec I've done all the licenses and special events, there's only a few of the on-line events left, some of which I think give you a lot of Exp points. I read something about doing that level 23 "Like the wind" Nascar race over and over and restarting it after 7 min to get all the Exp points?

And when you win the X1, use that in b-spec mode and you will be laughing.

OK but there's very few of them and I need to get a few levels up. Do you think I can get a few levels of exp just by doing the seasonal events? Do the FF, FR etc. challenges give you exp points or are you just submitting a time there?
Is that race good for experience at the higher levels though? Seems to me like you only get a little bit of it. Do you think it will be faster if I spend a couple of hours doing that Daytona course or should I just leave B-Spec mode on 6 hour races for a few days?
I also like to do that daytona oval race under Like the Wind event. You should be able to finish one race in less than 4 minutes and should be very easy if you have a fast car.

If your goal is to just get the x2010 legit. Bspec it. Doing a 4 hour race in Aspec is so mind numbingly boring. Unless you challenge yourself and drive something underpowered I guess. I quit Aspec after that 4hr race.
Once I learned to dupe I pretty much quit bspec too. Just do seasonal when I actually feel like racing. Which hasn't been often. I don't even drift online very much anymore.

You might also want to do those special events. The advanced and expert events in particular give you a lot of money and exp, and they are fun to do too. Also, get gold for every single license test and for me that got me a lot of experience and money too.
I think that Like the Wind event is "ok" for experience once you are above level 25. I just think that's the best normal race to gain experience quickly. The other methods mentioned above IMO are better. If you think driving in an oval is too boring, then try doing other expert events, they are long but more fun.
For b-spec mode, I'm at level 27. I did a coupe of endurance races. It took me two endurance races to get from level 26 to 27. I'm sure it will take even longer as I level up (probably 10 endurances races to get from level 34-35???).

just happened to take a peek at GTP forums and found this.... ive done this before even in the older GT's with the Escudo but this is taking it to a new level! its rigging it so even AFTER the race is done, it'll auto-restart the race and just keep going like that. pretty nifty, if you ask me.
Choose the Dream Car Championship in the extreme series and then
the first event being on the Indy course - 10 Laps.
You will gain 9818 Experience points and 108.000 credits in just under 8 minutes !!
Code:
Setup for the car: Downforce: Lowest 50/50 - The rest is default !
Options to change:
Automatic Gearbox
Traction control - 5
Skid Recovery - On
Active Steering - Mild
ASM - On
ABS - 1
And then make sure you rig your controller and keyboard as in this picture and below.
The left stick is pointing to the right slightly, in exactly such a way that you still reach 400kph on the straights but you keep grinding the wall.
Test it out on the track to make sure you got the stick locked in the perfect angle and reach that speed of 400pkh on the long straights.
Without this last trick you will end up crashing and most likely have the car spinning against the wall for hours on end at some point,
and that we dont want offcourse !
Also make sure you connect your controller to the PS3 or it's battery will run out of juice.
When the event is ended the keyboard with the constantly pressed enter button will make sure the race gets restarted every time.
See my keyboard in the background of the image with a small piece of paper stuck in the keyboard at the numlock Enter button.
It will act as if the x button on the controller is being pressed over and over again.
Hope you got a spare keyboard with USB connection else you can't do much on your PC ( and PS3 obviously ) as like me!
So I just leave it running when I am sleeping and away from home to work, sport, work on my car, enjoy other hobbies and spend time with friends and family.
Now you to can leave your PS3 running for how long as you want!
Just make sure it is standing up straight for better cooling and it is not covered in dust to prevent overheating. For the rest it will be fine.
For your own state of mind you can backup your savegame every few days.
This for the UNLIKELY event anything happens ( Flood, Hurricane, Power Down, PS3 dies, YLOD )so that you got your progress saved on the USB stick which then you have to keep safe offcourse.

I looked into the remote race thing but everyone says it's more efficient to just leave your PS3 on all day doing an 8-hour endurance race.
For the most efficient A-Spec race, do the Nurburgring 4h in the X2010, drive for 3 hours, then park it.

I wonder why they make us endure such races. This is a game, not a sport. People have jobs, school, and family. I just can't understand it and I'm glad an in game save is coming along so I can finally do this.

My auto grinding A-spec set up:

Makes 1,000,000 Cr/hr.

Not everyone who plays this game has a job. There was a time when I could have done a 24h race (probably putting it on pause to sleep once or twice). I'm sure they would have added a save game feature at ship time if the game wasn't already delayed so much. At this point I'm just glad they're still adding stuff to the game after all the die-hard fans already bought it.

I did this setup except instead of using your DS contraption I simply stick a coin next to the Enter key on the keypad, jamming it.
I ran it all evening successfully, but when I came to check on it this morning I noticed that my car was perpendicular against a wall, just constantly pushing into it and going nowhere. It was doing that for the past few hours. I guess there was a bad crash.

What race do you get for 1,000,000/h? The first race of the last Extreme challenge only gets you 86,000 for like 10 min, that's nowhere near that.

70,000 for 1st place, every 4 minutes.

left it grinding last night, hit the 20 mil limit and got 2 cars for driving distance / number of races - Ford GT LM in Gulf colors and the XJR-9! Pretty happy with that. this is great lol now time to go shopping

Just put in a tactile transducer into my GT5 setup. It is seriously awesome! Feeling the engine, road, and crashes really adds to the immersion. Highly recommended for racing games!
