Yeah I didn't mod my GXP. I did it bone stock on Sunday cup only. It was too slow for FF. I didn't FF until like 20% into the game. My methodology was to plug in whatever car you won into the race rather than going in order of events. This came out cheaper as I've only really bought no more than 10 cars and I'm at 55%.

 

As a sidenote - if you do an oil change for cars you win (licenses, races - 0 miles on the cars) then you do get an increase in HP.

 

I have started doing the Beginner races and I am completely hooked. My gf is already pissed that I played for 3 hours last night.

I've completed the Sunday Cup, the FR Challenge, and the 4WD Challenge. I've gotten 4/5 golds on the FF challenge with the Honda Prelude I bought.

Saving up for a Skyline or S2000 right now. Or maybe the Integra Type R? Too many choices!

Anyone have an idea what I should do after the Beginner Hall? Do the Japanese Championship? The Mercedes Championship? Professional Hall?

 

If you want fast cash win the DTM Championship. You use a CLK-DTM for that race which you can win in the Silver Arrow Champ. under the Mercedes one-make races. Buy either an SL65 and mod it or SLR.

No problem. Yeah I finally got a jump drive so I took a couple of pics. I have another NSX-R pic but with a building in the background. Was your's white too? I know this was a car that was won. My F1 is pine green and red. I was hoping for a better color.

 

The NSX-R prize car is the prototype show car from Tokyo Autoshow 2001. Sadly no other colour choices are available. (I love the carbon fibre cover.)

 

Fired up the PS2 this weekend and got some (ok a lot) of gametime in. I used my Mazda RX-8 Concept (Type II) - won with all silvers in the iA licenses - to win the RX-8 races and get a MAZDA RX-8 LM RACE CAR. From that point on, the ownage began.

Won the Japanese Championship and Mazda "RE" races. Used the 350Z LM Race Car to win the Nissan Z races, and then put a Stage 4 turbo in it to win the Japanese GT Championship (man was that long - 10 races).

Got my B-spec driver up over 4000 points as well. Good stuff!

Probably going to get the SL65 now and win the Silver Arrow race, then do the German Touring Championship to get the CLK DTM.

I love this game.

 

btw I believe the NSX-R LM Prototype (won at 8 hours Motegi race) is also available in black. I haven't confirmed first-hand (but I tried over the weekend, I won a white one again) - but I have seen a picture of a black one at a site before.

I will probably try to get it again sometime.

1.) How do I speed up B-spec mode to 3x?

2.) How do I switch from B-spec to A-spec during a race?

I have a red one but it's a race car. I got it at the Speedway Endurance.

 

1) When the numbers up top appear to adjust your speed, press R1 to go into the other view where you see the lineup and the distances between cars. Hold down the L1 button and you'll notice the number 1x will blink. While holding down L1, tap right and you'll see the speed change to 2x then 3x. You can only view higher speeds on this screen. You can't watch a fast forwarded race on the regular view where you see the car.

2) You can only do it when you pit. You can make it where you pit and not change your tires and not get fuel. This is good to know because sometimes tires go before fuel and fuel is time consuming.

3) You can only do this on a race series. If it's just 3 individual races like in the FF for example where there is no championship. You'll notice because there is no option to "practice." If you see the option to practice, enter it and you'll do a warm up lap. Then they'll start timing you and checking your time against the pole setter. If you FINISH the lap where you're ahead of the pole setter, then immediately you can exit the practice and you'll see on the lineup you're first. Very handy for B-Spec btw since the computer won't know how to pass until at least 6000+ pts.

Could someone kinda rank the race cars? I don't have all of them yet, (don't have the 787B or the 89 Nissan) but I'll have them soon enough.

Cause I'm doing a couple of the looong endurance races in B-spec, and I want to know which one is the best bet to win.

Or is the Formula Gran Turismo the best?. I'm thinking that will be a problem cause you can't change the tires on it, and you'll be pitting too often without super hards.

Can someone rank em in terms of best overall and best to win an endurance race?

 

The F1 is the exact opposite. It lasts a loooong time on its tires. I can't rank some of the cars because I haven't driven all of them but here are my favorites.

F1. Not as fast as the Sauber C9 on a straight line but fast as shit nonetheless. Brakes and handles like a beast. Weaknesses is has no power to go through sand so if you eat it you might be in trouble. Can get bumped easily too since you only weigh like 500kg. Overall a beast though.

787B. Handles extremely well also. Awesome acceleration. Doesn't kill tires like the Minolta.

Minolta. Awesome power. Awesome top end. Hauls butt. Major weakness is it eats tires in the back fast. You'll probably use this for the N-Ring 24hour race. Do NOT upgrade to Level 4 turbo for that race.

I also like the M3 GTR Race car since it handles awesome but has no power. The Toyota GT1 Race Car is a beast too but I haven't really played with it. I have the R390GT1 and 92CP or whatever they call it and they're ok. I haven't played with them as much as the others.

There are 2 LM Prototype NSX-Rs:

Race car and road car.

The road car is available in 8 colours(I think). With the aftermarket rims I think its the best looking NSX in the game. (Gotta love the clean look without any decals.)

The one I have right now is a silver.

Thats the LM race car.

IMO its undriveable because of the poor gear ratio. Needs some serious works on it before you can take it on the track.

 

The wide-body NSX on the left side is the LM road car.

 

My NSX is Championship White.

Any of you dudes got the Sauber C9, Bentley Speed 8, or Audi R8. How is it!!!!

Of those three, C9 is the best. The Bentley handles horrible, i sold mine, and the R8 is amazing (good speed, handling).

The top LM cars are the Toyota GT-ONE, Minolta, Audi R8, Sauber, Pescarlarlo's (sp?)
the BMW LM sucks at handling to as does the McLaren F1.

I have to disagree with you about GT-ONE. If you can beat the World GT Championship with that car you must be god.

 

This damn car pitted only once on the Speedway 150 miles and pitted on lap of 52/100. Never pitted again. Then I went to take a shower and with 10 laps left my B-Spec driver (6200 pts) was down 13 secs. Got it down to 7 by finish to get silver. A-Speced the whole race again and won with my stock 787B.

 

Anyone notice it takes like 5 minutes to start the game literally. My PS2 is on that Browse screen for a while. At first I thought it wasn't reading it at all but it just takes longer than usual. In game loading is normal though.

I need a new controller again. The one I have isn't broken yet but it's too sensitive. If I tap left/right while on the Ring I'm in the grass. Please tell me that's not normal.

 

Doesn't take me long at all to start GT4. Probably about a minute or 2. If you mean its on the main PS2 browser screen where it shows the CD and the memory card... you may be having an issue with your CD-ROM drive... I have seen that happen with CD's it has a hard time reading... you been working your PS2 out, man....

If it took me 5 minutes to get GT4 going, I think I would leave it on all the time, lol.

 

Well other games have no delay, just this one. It doesn't go into the screen with the cards. You have to push "X" to get in there. It's where it says Browser and Configuration.

What about the controller thing?

 

well it may be your GT4 disc then. Check it for scratches and blemishes. Try cleaning it. Obviously you have been giving it a good workout.

if you're using the D-pad to control the car (as opposed to the analog sticks), well that's another issue entirely.

 

I've always used the D-pad with 0 problems. Even when I use the analog stick on this controller do I have this problem.

 

I haven't played since Sunday. I'm starting to develop a nervous twitch!

i haven't played in 5 days and before that 5 days i'm lucky if i played an hour. so really i haven't played in like a good 3 weeks. btw i have a girlfriend now, thats the reason, i'm never home to play GT4. must play tonight.
