my take on it:

1) Way better than gt3 aspec
A. Graphics r hot, car choices 2
B. Easier to control, moreforgiving
C. Sounds are much more cooler
E. Same price
F. awsome layout, gauges
G. better tracks
2) Needs some changes
A. Some screen shaking
B. u cant see anything after u crash

ahah some of you people are gonna play this game out before next one comes out! I'm gonna pace myself

 

Yeah graphics are this time around. I thought 3 was hot but dang.
I haven't heard the sounds too much as I have crap TVs.
This one was cheaper than 3. Gotta love CompUSA specials.
Tracks were added but I hated Paris and it looks like it got replaced by Opera Paris.
I love the gauges. I just hate that I don't have a full tach when in outside mode. I like to know my RPM.
Screen shaking is annoying but quickly fixed by hitting L1 to see in front.
I hate crashing on rallies with walls in the foreground. I can't tell if spinning out. Same problem in Motegi Ring.

damn... this series was hardly a "set it on Bspec and do something else" race... I had to babysit each and every race I entered... pretty much did this all day - and I only did 11 out of the 15... that was enough to seal the deal. I had to even put in some manual laps - like for instance @ Laguna - I would say I put in about 35 laps out of the 85. Just because the AI goes berzerk on the 2nd to final turn at that track... most likely a bug. Unfortunately, this also means your Bspec driver goes nuts there too, just totally wipes out sometimes in that turn. It was fun to actually do some driving. Plus I love Laguna. I drove a lot of the other tracks too, actually. El Capitan is a fun track to drive with F1. Seoul and New York are quite aggravating. I ditched the Ring after 2 laps of Bspec - it was too much... a mistake I made is that at first, I was not practicing to qualify - I should have done that for all races, to get 1st spot - that would have made Bspec much easier. But then so I'm trying to qualify for the Ring. The first lap doesn't count. I start the 2nd lap, halfway into it my tires are red . Yeah that was a bust. Anyway, I ditched it. I ditched Sarthe too. Anyway, glad to finally have the Sauber C9. Just glad that series is over... but I will probably Bspec the rest of the races just to finish em at some point... but for now, I've had enough F1.

I'm running that series now. im on el capitan. The first two races I ran b-spec and did something else and took 1st place, then next two was 5th and then sixth place. after that I baby sat too. You can just leave it in b-spec and when he gets to that certain corner that he always loses it, tell him "steady" pace right before he goes into it. and then right after go back to "push" or "fast" pace. Mine just won nurburgring and is kicking ass on El Capitan.

 

What car did you guys use?

 

quick noob question about b-spec (this might have been addressed before i just dont want to scan 102 page on this tread)
do you have to race in b-spec to get 100% completion, i have only done a-spec so far, and the b-spec option doesn't seem that fun to me you just tell the driver to how to drive (is this right) does not racing b-spec not open up new tracks or can i get them all racing a-spec?

 

It looks like A and B are the same as long as you finish first. You should practice B-Spec unless you want to run 228 laps on your own. You should do B-Spec little by little also to build up your driver.

On a separate note we need to start a new thread already. Half of the pages is in anticipation to GT4 and nobody obviously should read that. I say close this one and we start anew.

damn, looks like you got Bspec down. there are so many damn techniques and ways of doing it, this game sux. too much variety.

 

F1 car is the best bet.. after all, it is called the Formula GT . BUT - I have read reports of people using the R8... but I think that would make it more difficult than it needs to be... but honestly though, at Nurburgring, for the first section, I get a better time with the Jaguar XJR-9 than with the F1... F1 is 2-3 seconds off the pace of the Jag. Kinda crazy. But... this has a lot to do with the first 2 straights of the Ring... the F1's shine in the twisties.

 

I have to! I still don't have my damn IA license! I hate Nurburgring and that stupid benz 190!!! I can barely go 2 minutes without driving off that narrow ass track!

 

oh man, that was me in the beginning..... you just have to keep practicing the Ring. the License test is not the place to practice. Shoot I don't remember, is there a place to practice the Ring outside of the license test, like if you don't have it unlocked yet? If you have it unlocked, practice it in the Free Practice mode or whatever.. it will be well worth your while!

 

this sux.... I was just checking around in the arcade mode options..... for Multi-LAN play you need a network adapter. That sux - why didn't they just leave it like GT3 used to be - uses firewire - at least have that option too. this is so lame, now I guess I have to get the network adapter. :<

in other news I tried F1 car in arcade mode.... you can go to "quick tune" and raise the hp to 1069 or some ridiculous figure, set Supersoft race tires, and lower the weight. yeah I got to the first checkpoint at the Ring in 55 seconds... talk about being on rails.

 

Yeah, I bought the exact benz with economy tires and you can practice in world circuits. still sux.

On the F1 car, you cant change tires in GT mode right?

another noob question (ill try and keep it one a day, still not scaning 102 pages) last night while playing i went to tune my s2000, i have a stage 2 turbo kit and went to do a stage 2 engine kit, it showed my hp going down, and stage 3 engine kit only showed a mild hp increase. do i need to do motor work first then the turbo kit or what?? i sure in GT-3 the more you did the more hp you got, i dont recall more work showing a decease in hp??????

 

It's either going NA setup OR Turbo setup. You can't do both so choose wisely. I think some cars can go supercharger too.

I did the Ring by first going over out really slow. I was like 12 seconds shy. The easiest part is the back end straight so that's where you'll make up some time. The first part is the part where I hauled ass.

First left in 2nd.
Then stay into 3rd and do not down shift until the second left. Just let off the gas as this car's gears are pretty wide. I think the 2nd left was a 3rd gear turn but by then you're already in 4th.
I think an S rolls around which you can take in either 3rd or 4th and then it straightens out. You really only need to do like a 1/4 of the race super fast and the rest fast but not dangerous. Good luck.

 

side notes: (if anyone cares) i started this game with old gt-3 info it let me transfer, i bought a rsx-s, i should have bought a new civic-r and the biggest turbo kit i could get. why, because with the civic at the begining you can race clubman cup, ff race and the most important civic only race under honda, the civic only race, once all won gold gives you a racing civic worth 95,000. this is much better than the best beginer race worth the most which i found to the sportster/converable challage witch was 3 races and a prowler worth like 11,000. this finally let me buy a decent car a nissan skyline v-spec. just thought i would share.

 

Just put in the game last night for the first time. Started the licenses but I suck. The best I can get is silvers on the B license.

I was amazed at how much stuff is in this game. It's huge!

 

The whole "all black" cars things sucked for me. I only found out about it last week, when I was at 760 days. Weak. I'm at over 800 now...

I wonder if that opportunity arises again. Anyone have any pics of a cool (as in Honda) all black car?

 

You don't need golds for the licenses mc. Don't burn yourself out on the licenses as they get frustrating.

I hear the days repeat after 700 or something back to Day 1.

 

this is good advice... just take it easy and finish the Ring. you will get bronze, but you will finish.

 

damn yeah it cycles... you'll have another chance at the black cars at or around day 1388...

I beat El Capitan (2nd from the bottom) with the 350Z LM Concept car. Easily my favorite car so far (no F1's yet obviously ).

 

Too bad the reality can't come any sooner, once you entered the GT World Championship in the Pro. Hall, you will find out how underpowered the Z LM is.

also, is my game trippin or something, cuz i CANNOT find a damn supra turbo in the used car lot.....i check all the damn time, its just never there....wtf!?! I check both lots too.

 

GT All Stars... forgot what race that is. Can you go to the Preview screen for that race and tell me what cars you are going against? I don't have GT4 in front of me otherwise I would do it myself.

from the left - Toyota GT-One, Nissan R390GT1, Nissan R92CP, and Mazda 787B - all in black. These cars appear in the used car lots (2 per lot) on day 694 of the game and stay there for 7 days. If you miss 'em they come back 694 days later. Oh yeah you need like 8.9 million credits or something to buy all 4 - so save up!

The Supra Turbo is available in the used car lots - I think I see it the most in lot II - look for '97 Supra RZ with 276hp - it will not say Supra Turbo. I have not seen any other than the '97.
