i reccomend getting a geforce 6800 LE around 150, and unlock the pipes from 4 to 16 (like the 6800 GT which cost around 280)

I found out about this the hard way. I just got a MSI Geforce 6600GT AGP from newegg for 186 a couple weeks ago. Should I take it back for the 6800LE? I'd hate to go through the hassle of reinstalling my old Ati 9800AIW again but do you guys think its worth it to get the 6800LE? Reason being the 6600GT has DDR3 memory which is faster but it has 128 vs the 6800LE which has 256MB but its the old DDR1.

 

DAmn I can't go back and edit no more but a week ago newegg had this 6800LE made by leadtech for 130.00 that I now wish I jumped on. Because with all the stuff I'm learning about unlocking pipes and shaders to 6800GT levels it sounds like basically you're turning the 6800LE into a GT for 150 less plus you can overclock it to higher memory speeds.

The only downside I see is that Newegg isn't listing the Newtech 6800LE anymore. Where did it go??? Is it discontinued?

 

Unlocking all the pipes and shader on the LE is not a gurantee. I was actually one of the lucky ones, and was able to unlock all 16 pipes and the shaders (so far no artifacts). Unfortunately not everyone is as fortunate.

I'm having a problem. MAybe I'm doing something wrong...I setup my account etc, registered my game and all that. My internet connection works fine and I don't have any firewalls up at the moment yet my game doesn't find any servers. I installed the gamespy thing too when it asked me to do it. How do I get my game to locate some servers so I can join in or whats the ip to a dedicated server I can join in

Actually you don't need to install Gamespy (in all honesty I would recommend not doing so, the game works fine without it being installed). You need to create a username specifically for the game other than that I don't know why you're not connecting, but you can do so in teh game itself. You then login with that username and password you created.

Have you gotten to the this point?? Sometimes it does take along time to find servers, but in the middle of the search you can tell it to stop (or is it cancel) and it will just pull up what it has found. You can also try to manually enter a server ip address. To find that server IP address I would recommend Googleling 'BF2 weapon unlock server' and that way you know your connection is working properly (it won't be a ranked server, but this is just to test it).

But for a slightly lower speed @ 300mhx (which you can overclock easily), you could have gone with a 6600GT. The 6600GT is very overclocking friendly. I replaced the stock fan with a Zalman Al/Cu and it's running very nicely at 575mhz and 1.2ghz.

 

The good benefit from the 6800 though is the 256 bus...

Yes, you can open pipes on the 6800. It's the GT & Ultra version that you CANNOT.

 

I got battlefied on my PC last night. I haven't had time to open up the pipes on my card yet but Im not too sure that Im confident enough to do it. I have to install the patch and I'll be ready to play.

I work night from 8pm-4:30am. I'll probally able to play after I get off of work and before I go in. Hopefully some of you are on around those weird times.

Well, I had 8000+ points... so I ranked up 4 times.

 

I unlocked 3 new weapons since the patch and the gun for Assult is awesome. G3: 7.62mm Rifle. I sucked when shooting at someone with any gun. This thing rocks!!!

 

This new ranking system is fucked. I spent an entire round team killing (had 83 team kills) and managed to somehow rank up with only 11 REAL kills.

 

The G3 takes no effort to kill someone.

I've been busy with school but the testing week is almost over. On the weekends, I usually play a lot.

About the guns:

The G3 is BEAUTIFUL. The only negative is that it only has 20 bullets in a clip so use your bullets wisely.

When I'm in a killing mode, I walk around with the nade launcher and shoot the crap out of them when I see them. The key is to aim at their feet and NOT the body mass.

When I'm in a lazy mode, I usually walk around with the NORMAL medic gun and go around capturing flags. I don't kill people in these situtation unless we make eye contact or they're shooting me.
