360, PS3, PC: Battlefield 3
Late to the game here but I bought BF3 for PS3 on Black Friday. Currently level 9 I think.
Fav gun so far is the PP-2000 with holographic scope, grip, and suppressor. Just sucks the mag is so small.
IMO, sniping in this game is stupid and rarely does it help your team or yourself. And if you are sniping and you don't have an IR scope, you're fucked.
Maharajamd on the game if anyone would like to add me. I never have anyone to frag with.

a few of my sniping friends would disagree.
although i liked sniping much more on BFBC2, i would say that having snipers keep watch over bases in Conquest is a very usable personel on the team.
in fact, i probably get sniped more than i get killed by automatic weapons.
my friend uses an IFR scope with either 8x or 12x zoom on the MK11.. pretty much game over if you get in his sights.

What platform do you have it for? I know everyone in the platoon so far has been PC. I'm not sure if it will allow you to join if you are not a PC player.

and Rockstar I thought the only IR scope that you can unlock was 1x? Unless the Xbox has some sort of exclusive or something. My friend couldn't wait to unlock the IR for his MK11 but turns out it was only 1x
Actually, turns out it doesn't matter. The DLC downloaded, but you can't actually play it until next week for PC. PS3 players can play it now, however.
EDIT: and now I realize it may not have been the DLC that was being downloaded, but rather just a large patch. Feel free to ignore my comments from now on, as I apparently have no idea what I'm talking about.

I figured you pre-ordered and thus got to play it anyway even if you were on PC
I just finished campaign. Overall it was pretty fun. There were some very frustrating parts along with equally frustrating glitches. The plot was alright, but the ending wasn't all too satisfying. Graphics were amazing and ran really smooth. Too bad MP can't be rendered as well. I certainly wouldn't have bought this game for the single player, but I did find it to be a nice added bonus.
FYI - you can snipe mines. I'm not sure if you can blow up mines with regular guns but on conquest large, seine crossing I was hiding up in the 3rd story building overlooking E (the L-shaped alleyway). Saw some guy lay down a mine.... fuggit, took two shots but I blew it up. And got a triple kill
Full auto sucks now for distance. But I went to my fallback trusty M16. Even in full auto (no heavy barrel) it's manageable for mid-range if you pull the mouse (or control stick) down and slightly to the left as you let loose.

no his is definately 8x or 12x... it doesnt actually say, but it has the mill dots and everything.
That's really a decision for you to make. If you have a machine that can take advantage, even medium settings look really good. BF3 on high looks amazing, can't imagine what it's like on ultra.
64 player maps are madness, but not all of them are great... the indoor ones tend to be like an endless tug of war until one team gets pushed back into their spawn. Doesn't mean you have to play them on 64p mode though. I think max in consoles is either 32 or 24 players.
I started off with PC games and thus I'll always go back to them. I think for the time being I'm done with console games, especially shooters. There was a period from Halo > Halo 2 > H3 > COD 4 > MW2 where I didn't play shooters on PC at all....
so if anything, I'm biased.
I have my qualms with the PS3 controller and the lack of customization options on consoles in general but that's another story. If you ask me I'll say PC every time.
The big factor though is my friends play on PC as well.... nobody I know plays BF3 on console, they're all on MW3. That's what COD has going for it, I could go on PS3 or 360 and I'd never play alone. But there are a few of us here on PC if it helps.

another thing I'll say is that I hated BF3 at first. I wondered why I got the game but I kept playing and grew to embrace the teamwork aspect. In contrast I played TDM in MW1 and 2 almost exclusively and some domination and FFA to mix it up.
I had a choice between PC and 360 and I chose PC.
I did this for a few reasons:
1. This is the easy one: the graphics are better. Not much more to say about that.
2. I've always found PC players to be easier to play with. A lot of them actually try to use team work in some sense and help each other out. On XBL however, people will almost purposefully avoid helping you out.
3. Less obnoxious kids. This is similar to number two, but I feel it is important enough to make it it's own number. It is great to be able to play without having to hear some idiot screaming profanities the whole game.
4. I have come to like the keyboard/mouse set up more than controllers over the years. Hopefully I'll soon also have a joystick for flying around!
5. I've seen many PS3 and 360 players complain of the lack of servers or the servers being down. I haven't had any problems on the PC so far.
6. 64 players. On bigger maps the large amount of players is a lot of fun.
That's all I have for now.
There are some downsides to getting it for PC though. There is no integrated voice chat for starters. If you wanna talk to someone with a mic, you are going to have to join their party. This can be really annoying as you can't move or anything while communicating with your teammates. So, you pretty much risk getting shot every time you want to talk, and you can't talk at all when flying anything.
Another downside is hackers and aimbots. There are way more hackers on PC than there is on 360/ps3. Dice seems to be doing a somewhat decent job in banning those who are hacking, but many people slip through. It doesn't help that the game uses punkbuster, which many people seem to easily get around.
Having to customize all your stuff during a match is really annoying as well. Hopefully that will be fixed with a patch, but Dice makes it sound like it will take a lot of work.
Bottom line is it depends on your personal preference. It should be fun on any system, but there are pros and cons related to each system.

CoD has been treating Xbox fans to early stuff for a while if im not mistaken.
guess PS won the bidding war this time.
im ok with waiting a week, it is free after all.
i figured if anybody was getting the first pack early it would've been PC. i thought they had their "hearts" invested in that more this time around.

thanks a lot for the input. I think I'm going to get this for PC! it will be the first PC game I've bought in years. I'm not too concerned about getting early updates, I mean I haven't even got the game yet. lol

I do have a bit of a conundrum, if I get this for PC I just know the next time I try MW3 (on PS3) I am gonna be HATING it... even last night I tried Battlefield 2 for a while (on PS3) and then when I went back to MW3 (on PS3) first of all the graphics are worse and second of all the 'noodly' loose feel of the control and movement was even more pronounced than the last time I tried BF2 and MW2, for some reason. And I can't even imagine comparing the PC graphics to PS3... /rambling
am I ready for this? lol

@ the are you gonna eat that audio commentary
Ohh and I want to try this
I've played on 4 different servers so far tonight. On each one, it is extremely lopsided. One team completely dominates and the other is crushed. I've noticed this is becoming more and more frequent. It's starting to get really annoying.
Maybe more people are grouping up than usual.... hopefully this gets better as people learn to play BF. I know that my first 8 levels or so I was awful.
Some people are SICK with this game, the possibilites are ENDLESS....I wouldn't have even thought to TRY something like that!!!
I have jumped out and shot down a chopper but never tried to get back in my vehicle as it's usually gonna blow up. Don't think I could do it even if i tried though...THAT WAS NICE!!
