Now, where the fun comes in is your only mode of transportation is a mongoose, everyone has rockets and for all intents everyone is invincible.

I used to use the tank's turret in GTA Vice City to push the tank faster to get away from cops. So I'd face the turret in the opposite direction and keep firing. Boy you should see how fast you can get the tank going by doing that, and the great side effect of it, is that everything behind you gets destroyed
Couple of quick questions
1. I've seen people armed with a sword or hammer "block" hits from an attackers sword/hammer. How do you do you block?
2. Where is the Hornet on Multiplayer? That is one of my favorite vehicles from the campaign, but haven't seen it on Multiplayer yet.

2) Neither the hornet or tank show up in the standard maps. You can make a custom map with everything tho.
I need to buy a used wireless network adapter for the 360 still in order to play online, ugh.
Don't know why Microsoft just didn't include that because Nintendo includes a wireless network adapter on the Wii.

Heroic Map Pack Announced for Halo 3
Posted by lukems at 11/19/2007 12:19 PM PST
Earlier today, Microsoft Game Studios announced that the DLC Bungie has been working on will be available December 11th to the tune of 800 Microsoft points. The Heroic Map pack is comprised of the first three maps of our intended downloadable suite to support Halo 3’s multiplayer. Christopher Barrett, (AKA Barry) the creative director of Downloadable Content and Steve Cotton, the DLC design lead answered a host of questions, some reasonable, some borderline nonsense to give folks a little better idea about what they are seeing when they look at the three screenshots of the maps we’ve released (there will be more coming sometime after the Thanksgiving holiday).
A quick note about how Matchmaking will work:
When Halo 2's downloadable content joined the Internet, it effectively split the Matchmaking population into the "haves" and the "have-nots," Bungie was readily aware of the problem that caused, and has rectified it in Halo 3. First, when downloadable content arrives, it will have its own playlist for those folks who just want to play with their new toys. Simultaneously all of the DLC maps will be rolled in to the regular Matchmaking playlists as well and then as folks are getting matched up, the game will take into account who has what maps in the matchmaking process. So you'll see Team Slayer on Standoff show up in the Team Slayer hopper as well as in the new DLC-focused playlist.

Wow 800 points is pretty steep. I still have 1600 left from months back. I usually don't download stuff I have to pay for, the last thing I downloaded was Pacman C.E. I'm may go ahead and get these new maps, but it would cut my points in half.

1600 points for XBL runs about $19.99.
So that makes the Halo 3 map pack about $10 which isn't bad IMO.
Didn't know there was a Halo 3 thread, need to visit Off Topic more often.
Right now I am a 30 in Team Slayer. I enjoy playing with people that actually understand the game though. XBL tag is Akatsuki06

What is "Skill"? on XBL?
On XBOX Live, what is Skill? Right now I'm a Gunnery Sarg grade 2 and I have 63 EXP points and 6 skill. It says my next promotion will be at 150 EXP or 10 Skill. How do I get my skill points up?
yeah you have a point there. I didn't play Halo 2 online though so I didn't even know how much the Map pack cost. But compared $15 compared to $10 I guess 800 points is a pretty good deal.

Go to the ranked playlist, and it'll have a number by your experience badge, and that number indicates your skill. If you don't die a lot and win you'll go up. Right now I'm a 41 Skill in Team Slayer 31 is Team Doubles and 40 in Lone Wolves. Team Slayer was the hardest to level up and same with Team Doubles, it took me 100 games to get to 40 in Lone Wolves but 700 more to get Team Slayer and Team Doubles to where they are now. Its tough depending on other people.
The most important rule in Halo 3 is be patient, don't run out with the AR, its not that good of a weapon and you'll get out gunned everytime.

Well if you ever want to play with me, send a friend request, saying you're from AZ, look up my stats in the previous post, lol.

Do you know if these maps are playable on ranked playlists, because if thats the case I might be forced to play them. Or are they soley for custom games?

You're defintely right about being patient and the AR. I've always wondered why I would empty tons of bullets into a guy and he still ends up killing me. Aside from the Blaster Riffle and the Plama pistol, the AR is probably the worse gun in the game. I guess I'm getting better now though, its just hard standing still because whenever I do so I usually end up getting killed from behind.

I was gone all weekend and didn't get to play at all. Hopefully I'll get to play in the next 2 weeks before I head to South Africa for the holidays. unfortunately, the new maps are released the day before we head out, so that will definitely need to wait, unless my cousins have Halo

I guess I'll wait on the maps then,

You just got to slow it down, don't rush an enemy with just an Assualt Rifle, unless he has no shield, because the Assualt Rifle may seem strong but it really isn't a good weapon. The Battle Rifle is definitely the weapon of choice in Team Slayer games, except on close combat, then you use a shotgun or a mauler and beatdown. Shoot then punch!
