360: Forza 4
thanks for all the shared cars, I just tried the Veyron SS (thanks civicdrvr) my gosh what an animal, but boy does it handle like
the Agera is a beast, a blast to drive.
the things I don't like about Forza:
- some car models are just flat out wrong. the NSX for instance. and many of the Ferraris. this bugs me very much and the only thing I can really do is ignore it.
- wish I could customize the buttons on the controller - I would want to move the shifting to the triggers. I have it setup on option 12 which is a GT style setup, using both sticks for steering and gas/brake. I love this setup because it feels like driving a remote control car. and, the shifters on the triggers would easily fall into hand - but the way its setup now the only option is to use the shoulder buttons as shifters, which kinda sucks. still I am able to do it but not if I want to do really precise and calculated driving.
- already been mentioned but whats the deal with the wheels, they just don't look right
that's all for now

But even with the race tires, its still not the best handling car out there.
And you can map the buttons to what you want btw. I did.
Yea, the One-77 and the Reventon are pretty nice cars. Ive got to go through my garage and decide on which is my absolute favorite to drive.
Also, do you have any local game retailers in your area? A lot of them offer disc resurfacing if it comes down to it.
the wheels dont like right, the chrome doesnt look right, and there are not enough wheels!
in other news:
the v12 vantage is amazing in A, and the SLR Moss is my favorite S class car in terms of driving fun. That thing is a hoot to drift in too

I clicked into the wheels area for the first time yesterday and was amazed at how many brands were available. That amazement quickly diminished when I clicked inside only to find that my favorite wheels by those brands, were not in there.
for instance I love the Work Meister, one of my fav wheels ever, yeah its not in there.

So for those of us who don't have an Xbox, what are the things we GT5 racers should be most envious of?
Is there anything GT5 has that Forza 4 still doesn't do as well? Other than a decent budget steering wheel option...

The thrill of driving and racing. I feel thrilled to drive certain cars in Forza. Such as the Agera. There is nothing I can compare that car (and others) to in GT5. This is because the main thrill comes from the sound. I literally felt thrilled to drive that car, just over the weekend. and it was a new sensation I had never felt in GT5. The sound (as I have been swooning over in here) is what seals the deal for me. I have felt similarly with PC games such as GTR / GTR2 that also have good sound.
edit: the thrill also comes from the feeling of not being able to control the beast - of having to modulate the throttle thereof - Forza has better drifting feel and control over GT5. You can actually powerslide a car and it actually feels good to do so.

2) the game menu playability. for instance, if you go into an event and your car is overpowered, it will ask you whether you want to set your car to the required power levels. all you have to do is hit one button to do so. wow, that's nice and sure beats having to back out and go into the upgrade options and fine-tune your car to the specs by hand. This feels like the "2.0" version of next-gen racing should be. i.e. things should fall into place like this, you shouldn't have to do that kind of thing manually anymore.
in regard to the second part of your question... GT5 has much better and more accurate car models, generally speaking. I notice the newer models in Forza are pretty good and faithful to the real thing. But older ones which are clearly (I think) ports from older versions still show their inaccuracies. I mean there are some pretty glaring problems with the models. Easy for any car fan to see.
Also, braking feel is more pronounced and I would say 'realistic' in GT5. The way the car shakes and shudders, especially. Forza doesn't seem to have that, at all.
Also I have much more control with the PS3 controller. The steering stick on the Xbox controller is not easy to modulate, and feels like it has less range of motion. For that reason, I feel like I can only go so far precision-wise on Forza, with the controller. But the game is so good in the other areas I mentioned (namely the thrill of driving) that I am considering getting a wheel (something which I never thought of doing prior to playing Forza 4).
What else... I am not so sure on the track modeling, but the Nordschliefe feels and drives differently on the consoles, especially at certain corners. Also the graphics of certain tracks bug me, such as so much glare from the sunlight that the track appears solid white. I think this happens in GT5 on some tracks too, though.

As much as I love gt's models. Allot of the cars they chose to give the premium treatment to I don't really care for. Mustang mach 1... eww. While my poor little 2002 turbo was left all blocky. Heck they even have a shelby gt350 non premium car they could have spent time on instead.
What I am trying to say is, while there are fewer cars I feel like I have a better selections of cars I actually like as I rarely drove the non premium models. I will take my gt5 nsx on susuka over the same model and track in forza though.

Auction house layout on Forza 4 seems too outdated. Rather than spending an hour putting in your bid against another bid back in forth like chickens, it would be smarter to just type in the max price you are willing to pay and go from there.
auction house does suck... gonna put up some of my fav cars tonight when i get home...
The SLR moss is my favorite S class car to drive for enjoyment
The V12 Vantage is a straight monster in A, though im sure you more skilled guys can do better work with it than i do

Also, GT5 is in 1080p and I guess Forza is in 720p, can you tell when playing on a nice flat screen TV?
Srika, you're also in for a treat when all the DLC starts rolling in.
Monthly content...cars & tracks.
Forza 3 was good, but as soon as some of that bad ass DLC started going up it really made it a whole new game.
