Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

lmao, there is NO way they will give you the failed part.
To have it and auction it and to send jalopnik an article on their build quality...
not that you would but there is no way they are taking a chance.
Here's your truck back Samir, it was just that you had turned off the 12v accessory port in the back seat that's all.
Ask no more questions.

Thanks! They have the truck now, will update when I know more. Probably going to be next week before that happens.

Update on what went wrong. The rear drive disconnect and CV spline sheared off lol. There's an actuator in the back that disconnects the rear drive at highway speed and/or in conserve mode to save juice, that failed as well as the input side of the CV axle. Both will be replaced Monday/Tuesday and should have the truck back soon. No issues with the motors or anything like that.

Holy moly. I’m glad they figured it out - rather quickly too!

I snapped the snout off the passenger side CV in my CL. I say this because my CL was obviously making Rivian power.

In all honesty, this isn't as far from the truth as you think it is lol. The Rivian puts down 830hp from all the motors combined, so each one puts out ~ 210hp which isn't far off from what an Acura CL did lol...provided you had lost one of the drive wheels and all the power was going to only one of them. The torque value on the other hand...probably a bit different.

My CL made ~300whp, but it had an LSD. Once the passenger side let go the car went nowhere. But yeah, sheared it right on the snout. Super fun trying to pop that out of the trans when the cir-clip didn't want to let go I ended up drilling and tapping a hole in the middle of the snout in the trans for a bolt that gave me a little leverage to pry it out. Broke it around midnight, got it out of the car by 2am, at the parts store by 8am, and the car back together at 10am so I could drive to a meet 2hrs away.

Rivian is back and all fixed up. They said I couldn't have the failed part because it's being sent back to the engineering team for failure analysis. No issues with service, gave it back to me with a full charge too.
Shit man, I'm tired just reading about this.

Since it broke while driving normally, I will certainly continue to try and break it.

Why are the majority of HOA horror stories out of Texas or Florida? I thought they were the freest states...

Oh you mean red states that love to scream freedom but then work to take everything away from the people under the guise fiscal responsibility and christianity, while secretly doing everything they are banning and profiting? Those states?

In any case, most HOA's are stupid, some are ok, and very few are good. The owner is likely to win the HOA lawsuit given that the truck is not a "commercial vehicle".
My guess is the Floriduh people don't want those evil EV's infringing on their freedumbs.

Luckily, we never had any issues with the HOA in our 2 prior houses.
Just 2 letters in ~10 years, 1 for some rocks we'd removed from a flower bed & were in the driveway for a few days & the other for Christmas lights up past the 'down' date. Called them on the lights & explained it had rained for 2 solid weeks & my 28ft ladder would likely sink to China if I tried to take them down.
No HOA at the current house, just have the local city ordinances to follow, which are pretty lax.

Outside of northern VA, there are zero emissions checks. Just safety.

TX - People just get the scam paper plates to skirt emissions/inspection/registration.
Read a year or two ago that the number is well into the millions on lost revenue on registrations alone. And ours it cheap at like $76/yr

Your registration is $76 a year????? Is that for any car or based on car value?
#1719

It went up a bit $2-3 when they eliminated the inspection sticker, to include the cost into the reg sticker.
The Midge will get Antique plates & will be something like $56 for 5 years reg.
And, no inspection needed, safety nor emissions.

Damn guys, that's basically free lol. The yearly registration here is based on car value and age. Wife's Subaru is like $400 a year and the Rivian is knocking on $600. And our roads still suck.
