Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

Still a good looking truck. I'll likely trade the 3P in for a R1S when they come out.

Hell yeah. The R1S looks awesome too, I just want a truck bed to move lumber and shit around...and also race supercars in a pickup truck lol. It's awesome to see them starting to go out in mass though. Haven't seen one in the wild here in MN but saw one or two when I was in CA back in December.

I just want a solid runabout for the family. Ideally it'll replace the CRV and then I can get a fun, tossable car.

I almost pulled the trigger on a black M3. Drove it for a couple days and enjoyed it.

if i didn’t buy the wife the ody touring i would have my Tesla by now.

Thought about trading the van since I have equity and getting a Model Y but the 7 seater is a joke and all of our kids are in sports so I wouldn’t be able to fit baseball bags chairs etc in the frunk or trunk..

any major issues with the 3 since you’ve bought it, Sam?

I want to get one of those now but I've been told we need a new house so it gets put on the back burner.

Nope, no issues to speak of. It definitely doesn't like the cold though. The range plummets and the heat pump sometimes can't keep up when it's stupid cold outside. By stupid cold I mean like -20F air temp like it was this morning. The key is to warm the car and the battery up for about 30 minutes before you leave. Doing so with the car connected to the wall has a minimal impact on the battery level. This improves performance on all fronts.

The 7 seat MY is a joke but the cargo space is quite big so I'd at least give it a look see and find out if it'll work for you. Remember there's another trunk under the main trunk floor too. Otherwise there's the MX but I wouldn't buy one of those myself as they have a lot of reliability concerns with some of the "features" like the doors and what not.

I am assuming the rears. LOL

I wouldn't have to worry about the cold. The coldest we have seen in this "winter" season I believe was 29.

I'll have to take a look at the MY again and try it out for a couple of days.

Yeah it's those dumb gull wing things on the back doors.

I liked the Y but it was $4k more for a slower, lifted 3. The only real redeeming quality was the hatch IMO. But if you need the extra space, it's a solid choice.

All four doors are powered and the rear ones have a stupid hinge mechanism that has issues with failing and water ingress. I'd call power doors a feature for sure.

^ This. There's just a lot of weird bizzare stuff that they just shoehorn in because they think it's cool and only had a half baked implementation. All the "normal car" stuff in a Tesla works fine, just the weird Tesla specific stuff is sketchy.

On another note, I went to drive the Jeep yesterday for the first time in more than a month and, as one would expect, dead battery lol. Quick boost from the jump pack and we're back in business but I really need to drive this thing a lot more. Driving it around yesterday and today makes me realize how much I love the thing even though it's gloriously horrible to drive lol.

^ Coworker has that problem, except she drives her 2015 IS350 way more than her 2017 A6.
Told her she needs to sell the Audi since it just sits most of the time.

In case anyone cares, Tesla finally added the ability to see your charging history and how much it costs. Here's mine for the past 30 days, it's a lot better than paying $50 a tank for gas in my wife's car. You have to input your electric rates so that it can calculate the cost. I'm not sure how it's calculating the gas cost so take that one with a grain of salt.

34 for the month? How many miles driven?

Seems awesome! I'm averaging a tank a month in the Sequoia (because not driving) it's still close to 100 with a buck a gallon off.

About 700 miles a month. The car has about 6500 on the clock now and I picked it up at the end of June last year. The other thing to consider is that this is probably 95% city only driving.

The graph at the top also shows that I was never anywhere close to draining the battery on any given day. The total battery capacity is about 85kWh and I put in, at most, about 35kWh on the most demanding days.

Last thing to note is that it has been cold AF here for the past month so efficiency has been in the toilet. I'd imagine these numbers get better in the summer.

Not bad, over 700 miles, I probably spend $75-ish. But the 'Bu gets light truck MPG
The Merc would probably have been about the same cost, due to 93 over 87, with much better MPG.

That doesn't include the marginal costs for things like oil, which is something like $17 over 700 miles..

Good ol winter mix, my truck gets 295 miles for $75 in gas at current rates $3.19/gal.

We're sitting at 2.949 when I filled up on Monday, was 2.999 on Sunday.
Winter blend doesn't really seem to affect MPG on the 'Bu. 20-22 is about all she'll average.

It's crazy. When gas was $2/gal it's not a huge deal but when it's double that, the case for an EV becomes very attractive. I'd much rather pay ~$8 for a "tank" than $50.

When is your car supposed to arrive?

Mine did the same bounce around business until about a week before I got a VIN. If you haven't gotten a VIN yet then I'd guess you're going to be towards the back half of that estimate. Takes about two weeks from getting VIN to getting car.

Edit: I hear if you sacrifice a small animal to Lord Elon your car ends up coming faster. Can not confirm though.

Yeah that's what I've been reading. The window will likely shrink to 2 weeks, you'll get the VIN, then everything goes quickly.

Oh, and if you can't pick the car up within the first few days it's available, it goes to the next person in line and you get moved to a priority queue. It's...bizarre.

luckily we're in a world where the customer is always wrong and that's totally fine.
and then the "you're just lucky you're getting one" chance to belong to the electrified cult.

BTW the gas savings is based on 28mpg. Annoyingly there's no way to change that in-app.

I think it's more than a few days, probably a week or so unless you contact them and say you're out of town or whatever. You get options for a delivery window at the service center (which is what I'd do) or they can just drop it off at your house. The reason this exists is because people were pushing deliveries for weeks or months for some reason so they had to fix that problem.

That's dumb though a car of comparable performance to a 3P is going to do a hell of a lot less than 28mpg so you still come out ahead on the estimate.

No, lately people have been bumped for being unable to pick up within a 3-4 day timeframe. It's all over the order/delivery threads on the website.

Order holds have been limited to one 30 day hold per reservation. There were people that holding reservations for over a year

My wife spent $60 to fill up the Lexus at Costco yesterday for 2/3 a tank. Costco was $4.69 for premium...its over $5 at regular stations.

To contrast I spent last working up in Santa Clarita, a roughly 80 miles roundtrip. And I would have to charge every 2 days. So 3 super charger trips during off peak hours and I spent about $45. It would have been at least double for a gas equivalent.

But everything is more expensive here to include electric rates. I think tier 1 is .17 a kWh. and if you pump to their 2 its .23 kWh. Super Chargers off peak are .24 kwh.

Quick Reply: Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...
