And also not going to coat the Jeep because it would get scratched to hell in about 5 minutes.

the fact that it doesn't have to stay perfect and is a rugged vehicle is probably the best reason
to coat it!
Try it on the jeep...it's VERY easy to apply...even if it's just to make it easy to spray off the mud and dirt when you're done.

Have heard nothing but good on cquartz, IIRC someone on here did it on their 1G IS300.

Sam, curios if something like xpel clear bra or similar would be effective against off-roading 'damage'

I'm not sure. I don't want to have to replace it every year though. I think XPel is more for swirls, rock chips, and incidental damage that you then replace the whole sheet. I don't think it would hold up to branches dragging across it.

They do make magnetic panels that you stick on your Jeep to prevent the damage though. I'm probably going to get them before I go up north next.

IIRC, xpel is the 'self-healing' clear bra, but again not sure how it would hold up to dragging over impact damage.

or just keep the jeep in the grocery store parking lot since that's what it was designed for, ya goof.

If it was new I'd consider looking into it more but this is an 8 year old Jeep lol. I have a DA polisher and enough skill to get the scratches out when they happen. I'm good with just doing some routine upkeep for the future.

It would have to be more of a retaining wall than a curb before it damaged the frame/undercarriage

Going to see a Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Performance this weekend as potential Golf replacements. Also trying to get an appointment to see a 6MT F80 M3 Comp that a local dealership has as well. Would love to order a new M3 but cannot get over the fugly face. Also considering a X3M but the discounts would have to be pretty nice for me to pull that trigger...

R is a hoot to drive around, not bored with it at all. Need a bigger car though, baby seat doesn't fit in the back without the passenger's knees becoming part of the crumple zones. Also would like a 6MT if possible...or a ballistic EV.

M3 comp is nice, dude.
How often do you take the babe out alone?
Wouldn't you just use the Subi for family time?

If I went Tesla, it would be a 3 year car nothing more.

I take the kiddo in the VW every day to daycare. Subi is definitely for longer trips but even around town and stuff, would like to be able to take either car. Jeep doesn't have a car seat adapter so she doesn't ride in that all that often.

Also, this is definitely a "because I can" type of situation. We decided to not get a new house because of the insanity of the housing market and we have a good amount of financial freedom to do whatever at this point. M3 has always been my dream car so YOLO.

dude this is literally the reason I backed off of a new house as well...
sure we'd made a killing but then we'd get raped on the upgrade.
AND we'd double our house debt. Pass. We're good where we are
for now at least.

Well if it's just a luxury upgrade...RS6 has a bit of space, I hear.

If only I could afford one of those... Maybe in a few years after they depreciate a good amount. Same for the Aston DBX.

Also, definitely agreed on the getting raped on upgrades. People around here are offering to pay $25k-$50k over APPRAISED value now. Fuck that, I'm not paying more than something is worth, don't need to move that bad.

We'll give it another year or two and revisit. Our mortgage right now is a 15 year and stupid cheap, baby's daycare has already been prepaid for the year, no other debt (car or otherwise) right now so send it. Might even try to pay off this house next, who knows. #firstworldproblems.

I've been looking, trust me. The ones with MBUX, which is a must have, are WAY more expensive than the ones with Command. Still a bit out of reach for me as they're sitting at $85k+ for anything good. M3 (used) is $25k cheaper than that, Tesla (new) is $30k cheaper than that.

I haven't had any hands-on time with MBUX, but didn't mind the later Command system that was in my W205. Definitely was a step up from the former system that was in the same year CLA/GLE/E/etc.

This. It's a fantastic car otherwise, but not very rear facing seat friendly.

I don't care how fast the M3P goes 0-60 .. As a drivers car, the M3 is better than it in every single other possible way .

Is the M3 roomier than the Golf R, though? I just did a quick search and both seemed to pull up a 35.6in rear legroom. How does the Tesla size as well?

The car seat talk has me rethinking more about the R considering I keep my cars for a long time and a baby is in the future plans.

How much rear legroom does a Mustang have again?

30.6in... don't look it up.
