Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

I love the idea of dailying something in the winter that doesn't need to be "warmed up" in the conventional sense.

Ironically, I happened to pull up next to a Taycan at a light this evening.
As much as I hate electric cars... That was something else!
Get that.

Going to see the black M3 tomorrow over lunch. That will cement my decision one way or another. Asked them to give me a trade appraisal as well so maybe that will help with negotiations but I doubt they'd come down $4k on price or up $4k on trade. Wife also says if we get the M3 it's a temporary thing (3yrs tops) as she's not dealing with long term service and upkeep costs after our last BMW adventure.

I told you not to waste your time already.
You might not realize it but you already talked yourself into the tesla.
I do know how that is in theory but I don't and have never intermingled my money
with anyone I've dated, lived with or been married or engaged too. I'm too judgmental
about how people spend their money and don't like input on how I spend mine.

It was a "shitbox edition" badge lol.
In other news, the BMW dealership gave me an absolutely piss poor trade in value. They were $3200 less than carmax, carvana, and vroom offered and $2500 under KBB trade in. Looks like Tesla it is and I'll try again in a year or two when used car prices aren't insane to get an older F80 to have as a toy.

Good idea... Get one for the Jeep and save the second one for the Tesla. Smart!

So - how'd you like driving the M3?

See above.
Cliff notes: M3 is a phenomenal car but the Tesla offers a lot more bang for your buck and is more "fun" if you will, to drive every day. Also, as Aman mentioned above, having a car that doesn't need to "warm up" when it's cold outside is a huge thing for me with my commute being short. On top of this, I just cannot justify the current pricing of a used nearly out of warranty M3, it's frankly crazy that a car like that is $4k more than a brand new Tesla that outperforms it in every metric and comes with a full 4 year warranty. Tesla is a LOT better than I ever expected it to be. Also, if you think boost is addictive...wait until you try an EV lol. Decision made, going to order one.

Sorry @cu2wagon
Model 3 Performance in Blue with white interior. No FSD (because not actually FSD). 7-10wks for delivery. Probably going to move the Golf on shortly, got an offer of $35k to sell to CarMax.
My promise to all of you is to not turn into Stunna or Comfy.

I'll drive an EV when I have to. It's inevitable.
I purposely don't test drive one because I know I'll love it.
I didn't want to borrow that S5 when I had my TL and look how that turned out.
Same reason I have never sucked a pneus. I know I'll love it and have to do it
constantly.
None for me sir, thank you. Sam will take it.
Congrats on your decision Sam.

Whoa, just realized it's the same color as your Jeep! That's pretty cool though. I've always thought it'd be cool having matching color vehicles.

The parents of a kid my kid goes to school with have two Teslas. A sedan and the SUV thing. I saw the wife today at dropoff and she was wearing a Tesla jacket.
Pretty sure it's mandatory to get the gear. It's like being Ferrari guy, but with a RC car.

And FWIW, my distrust of EVs is from the "E". I'm a mechanical, gears and shit make sense. You can easily understand how things work.
Electrical shit? Nah, that's black magik, son. Witchcraft. No one knows how that works. No way in hell I'll strap myself or my family into some hovering occult sorcery. That's just asking for soul capture and eternal damnation.
But I'm happy for you Sam... Enjoy the new car.

Wow! I feel like you didn't even get enough time to enjoy the R. It seemed you were so excited to get it.
But, congratulations and hope everything goes well with the Tesla.
With the newborn and dogs that white interior has to be tough to keep clean!

I disagree completely . Internal combustion is complicated AF. You explode fuel which pushes a metal block down to spin a shaft that's attached to another shaft which uses a gear to spin another shaft which then goes to yet another shaft that goes out to the back of the car into a box that has more gears to spin two more shafts but sideways and then you add wheels to the sideways shafts and that's how a car moves. Some cars have lots of metal blocks that go up and down, on Subarus they go side to side because fuck not, and Mazdas just use a fucked up triangle instead.
EVs: Magnets bro.
EVs: Magnets bro.
The second scenario... Magnets? C'mon, man... How do they work? You can't even see electricity or magnetic fields. Ergo they don't exist.
it's witchery. It's evil. You'll see.

Golf has 4 doors...or are you suggesting it's a 5 door?
