I would agree with that. Nice car, good utility and plenty fast right out of the box.

Picked up my 2011 Plasma Blue Pearl STi a couple weeks ago. So far I only have pics from when I picked it up at the dealer. It finally stopped raining for a couple hours Christmas day so I got it washed up but I couldn't get any pictures taken. I now have the VentureShield installed and I debadged the rearend Christmas day. I still have less than 500 miles on it. I can't wait to get past that 1,000 mile break in period! I'll post more pics once the weather turns around.

Damn that is one huge stock wing. I don't remember the wing being that big on the previous sedan.
Still very nice though. Congrats!
p.s. thank you for saying "tint" and not "tints"

Is the wing mandatory? Can the dealer remove it if asked?

I think there are only a couple ways to go without the wing. You can remove it yourself and have a body shop repair the holes, or you could swap out for a WRX trunk. Being that mine is Plasma Blue, the only Plasma Blue WRXs to be found I believe are in Canada. Otherwise, I would have to repaint. I like the wing though - it's classic STi.

Got the tint on - 30% Pinnacle Formula 1 Ceramic. All windows except the windshield and I do not have a sunroof. You can compare this to when the car had no tint a few posts prior.

Not much right now. I did have the VentureShield put on but that's been a hassle to get to come out great in this terrible weather. Luckily, my installer has been super cooperative. Otherwise, my plan would be to put winter tires on the stock rims next winter and then the following summer pick up a new summer wheel/tire set. I'll probably stick with the 18s but go a little wider. The stock suspension is so dynamic compared to the HFP suspension I had on the Si. I originally thought that the only way to get better performance was through a stiffer suspension. The STi has proven me wrong - the handling is still there, probably improved actually, but it is super comfy for every day driving. Getting suspension right seems like a black art that I'm not sure I want to mess with going forward. I'll be waiting until my warranty expires to do any thing related to the engine.

Now, the folks to look up are Perrin performance and Cobb. I think MattG can steer you to where you can increase your performance without much hassle.
And the STI is 300 out of the box. Very nice. Welcome to the minority on Acurazine. We're a small but vocal crowd. OK, just me, but still........

nothing special but i just came across this thread and thought id share...
2010 Subaru Forester X Premium picked up back in October. it was an absolute dream driving in the recent blizzard. it drove like it was on rails, even without any winter tires. it totally demolished the snow performance of my old RDX (which i miss very very much). i LOVE the extra large sunroof too. you dont see too many $23000 SUVs with those.
overall, a very satisfied Subaru owner here kinda makes me want to get rid of my white elephant TL and get a WRX instead.

Time to Climb
i love my 2001 forester! i practically live out of it for 4-5 months at a time during rock climbing season (usually put on about 12,000 - 18,000 miles in that time frame). custom intake and exhaust and the subie does the rest. these cars are amazing =)

Very nice. We're a small group here. But as I tell people, just go and test drive one and you'll understand. What tires are on those wheels? I run 215/45 18's on factory wheels and it has less gap. Do you have a Bilstein set up or stock?
And I love the Forrester, 03TL.... Had one as a loaner while my SpecB was in the shop. Very nice drive and good utility.

This picture was taken right after I put on the wheels I bought used. The tires were pretty worn and they look thin.
I just put on 225 45 17 Continental DWS and they fill the wheel well much better.
I will try to post up a recent pic as soon as the roads dry up and I can get the car washed.

I keep being tempted by Subarus, especially since I live in a snowbelt. I was looking for a last generation Legacy GT to test drive over the summer. I found two. One was at a dodgy dealer and had clear signs of poor maintenance and some thrashing. The other was at a dealer about 80 miles away. I called to ask before I drove out there if it was still available and couldn't get a straight answer from the salesman, so I decided not to go. (I did see that the car was eventually sold, but then it showed up at another dealer a couple months later). They still seem awesome.

The fit and finish will never compete with Audi, BMW, MB, Infiniti, Lexus, or Acura. But what Subaru lacks in the smaller areas they make up for in a solid, reliable drivetrain.
I do, however, commend them on the 2010/11 model for fit and finish being a bit more upscale. But I prefer the 06-09 models because of the tidy size, and the chassis dynamics. Granted I have the specB package witch adds some things, it's still a relative bargain in a very competitive field.

Damn, I love those Legacys. AWD FTMFW. Just wish they felt more solid ;sad: not that they're bad cars, but IMO interior needs a bit of work. Haven't tried out the newer ones though

My car is 6 years old and people still compliment the interior as well as the exterior. It's not fancy though, you are correct there. I only paid 26k when it was brand new so
You could take a specB and build a pretty sick s402 replica and still be into it for less than 30k. Good luck getting the fenders though. They are supposedly unattainable unless you own a real s402. You can get JDM widebody fenders from DAMD if you're willing to pay.

Yukie over at japanparts.com can get most of the S402 items, but certain things are unattainable like the front fenders.
Honestly, the S402 is wonderful, but the damn thing is $55K. And the performance upgrade is really not much. Take a look:

Click on the gallery, then the second gallery. Love the car, and I can actually buy one. But not at that price.

I was hoping more for something that involved snow being kicked up and the car travelling at a 90 degree angle, but I'm sure the Subie sees its fair share of that during the winter.
Still looking great though
Are the headlights HID projectors or halogen projectors?
