LOL...
Chip keeps telling me to do the "chrome delete"...
I'm like, dafuq you using a fancy term for plastidip.

I looked into the black grill but oem is $800. Um. No.

I MIGHT plastidip it one day but if I do...I'd keep the wreath. Either new emblem or nothing.
And PS...I originally thought I'd do the newer emblem but I kinda like keeping the OG Kush emblem...plus, it matches my wife's.

i kinda like the newer in your face/oversized emblem...

matches your wife's emblem? aww that's cute... do you also have matching purses?

I actually like the wreath too. I found a place to get the black chrome factory grills for just under $600 and I am really thinking about it. I love the few wagons I have seen with them. They look especially good on black cars. I just wish you could get an entire black chrome badge set for the car.

I might need to buy an extra set of front and back badges to try and do the spray black chrome myself.

They even make black chrome tips for my exhaust. They want an insane $450 for the pair though.

You could have your own tips Black Chromed for a fraction of that. I found a company to do that to the Lips/Barrels of my rims for 150 more than that.

I could buy a second pair of the stock tips and have them done for cheaper than what they want.

I actually did that on the tip of my 4Runner. Everything I read online said it would work fine. It didn't.

I mean, it did like 80%, but the part right at the exit sort of cooked off so now it's a black tip right out to the used to be shiny but is now just neglectfully dirty silver end.

But it should be fine for a CTS-V. I bet those tips don't even get warm with such a low output engine. What is it? Like a 1.5L I-4?

Yeah, I'll try hard to not give up on the spacers...but I can't be burning up rear tires that fast. Crazy.

I like the wreath too, maybe you could do what I did as shown in pic. It's a pic from last spring and before I had the wheels powder coated, but it's the only decent pic I could find of the front.

Sorry the pic stinks, but I dipped the the grill and wreath (you can see the wreath much better in person) but peeled the crest. My original plan was to dip it to see if I liked the black grill, if I did I was planning to buy the black chrome one.. Well that was 3 years ago shortly after I bought her and its been on ever since.

Hmmm....I hope you don't rub cause I want that look. If not I might have to do sedan springs then so I can do spacers. Love the coupe drop though. Or maybe just lightly roll the fenders to get clearance.

Black chrome is a dark chrome finish. PVD is normally either satin, or gloss black.

The spacers are causing tire wear issues?

I like that but would want to pull off teh wreath as well as the chrome edge around the grill.

My biggest fear was removal of the PD after if I change my mind, but I guess if you do enough coats, that's not an issue.
They're close enough together that you could just brush them off with some degreaser to remove it all, probably.

NO, having the spacers on cause me to rub which caused me to pull the driver cradle out to get more camber but I THINK I also created more squat/toe when I'm in the car and punching it because it looks to me like toe wear.

Yeah, the more coats the better... I have 5 coats of black and 2 coats of clear on it... Originally I didn't like the way the edge of lower grill surround came out so a week later I removed and re-sprayed it. It came off very easy.. I know that WD-40 and Goo Gone will remove it if need be.

Good to know it's held up all this time!
It's technically better than paint because it'll bounce rocks off and not chip!

Always put a minimum of 5 coats. If you are doing some of their other finishes like the metallics/pearls/colors etc... you should have a min of 5 coats of base/black THEN apply the color you are applying over it. It will not only hold up better and look better but should you need to remove it it comes off without hassle. I have peeled it off my RH C2 spoked wheels in just a few min and mostly in 1 piece.

Exactly the look i was talking about... i think it better executed on a lighter colored car unless you go full murdered look with the black... here is why... with a light colored car, you add in the chrome trim, then then grill then the chrome emblems... there isn't enough of a contrast... everything is too bright to me... this subtly sets it off nicely...

I agree...
after "murdering out" the black TL...I like the contrast of the chrome and silver trim and grill.
It all ties together the wheels and fender grills and window trim and exhaust.

Fatty...the asphalt was old and ROUGH! Think cheese grater on those poor MPSS!

There is at least one company that will send you PVD V wheels, but you need to send in your wheels as cores.. price is still $$ though.
If really want black chromies.. might as well get reps!

hells yeah.. the weight is pretty good too.. which is somewhat negligible since those PSS are so fat
heck, just drill holes in them if you want lighter forged wheels..
