The Official Honda S2000 Thread
After 5 days of shipping, the car made it from New Jersey all the way to California.
Car needs a little work (light traces of hail damage - mostly on trunk) and came with aftermarket wheels (these wheels were their summer set).
I only took one picture, but the car is pretty clean inside and out - seats are so much more padded and comfortable than mine
.
Cliffs:
2004 AP2 - SSM w/ red interior
The good:
72,000 miles
All service records
Original owners
Car feels "tight" - really solid interior, very little rattles.
Clutch feels great
All gears shift perfect, even that first 2nd gear change on a cold start.
No rips on the seats or top
No leaks
The bad:
Light hail damage on the trunk
Few dings
Tires need replacing soon
I'll take more pics another time:

Welcome to the S2000 family mom!

Whoah, Silverstone, right? Not Moonrock? I didn't realize how much darker silver that was than mine.
Congrats Mom! What a find, man...good for her, she's gonna love it.

You're right, it's definitely darker than SSM.
Car drives great - over the last year it really hasn't been driven much and I have a list of maintenance items to take care of.
All new fluids, new tires, etc.
Tested VTEC yesterday and it works!
It really never gets old

No bites yet on autotrader. Listing her on s2ki. Hopefully potential car buyers on there aren't as flaky as those who want parts. I don't understand how there are so many people that'll PM me saying they'll take the sway bar or cat I have for sale, and then I never hear back. wtf people

Well, new item came in and I'm very happy with the quality and customer service. I'm always shocked at how wonderful the grass roots vendor base is for the S2000.
One maintenance item I was worried about doing, since I could sometimes hears the raspy chain sound when starting the car...was the TCT. After doing some research I decided that rather than spending $150 on an OEM one that might go bad again, I'd spend the money on the gen-x Billman 250 modified one. It seemed to address the weakness with some serious thought into applying more pressure at higher RPM rather than just putting more pressure on the chain, period like the ballade sports unit.
Well, it arrived today, I installed it immediately and shipped off my oem one back to pullman for my core refund.
Yay, one less thing to ever sweat on this car. I might be nuts but man does it feel good to not hear the rasp when I turn on the car. I'm sure placebo is in full effect but I feel like the shifting and even the engine grunt feels more solid now. Who knows...

I have an appointment with Billman on October 2. He is coming down to eastern PA for a S2KI Service Day. Im getting the "Once Over" and a valve check---probably a few other things, too. I'm excited to learn more about my car!
Last night, I was going through all of the papers the previous owner left in the car and found some LoJack paperwork. Anyone have any ideas where they would install the unit in our cars?

Jordan, no need. Your photo abilities give you carte blanche in all car forums and anywhere you want to hang your hat. Anyone have a problem with that, can come see me.
I think they cancel each other out.

I have zero Ragrets (not even one letter) about my decision to pony up the extra money over a mid 90's miata...not because they are bad cars but I don't envy one when I cross it on the street and I feel like I would envy an S2000 if it drove by me in the alternate scenario.
I could be wrong though
Took a few yesterday...I'm still strongly in

Its also funny how they are becoming affordable to a much wider range of buyers (younger crowd) yet, when I go to local meets or cars and coffee n such, these guys/girls with 25-30k new cars will say "I always wanted one" yet just dropped double what they could have paid for a clean used S.
its almost as if people still have them in their mind as more of a childhood dream car and don't realize that they are very much affordable until after they've signed the papers on a $30k mugen Si.

I think it's more the ease of purchase...most Mom and Dad's that allow the youth to buy a car have stringent rules on them being safe and reliable and they won't go for the "please Mom, I always wanted an S2000!".
Plus, research is needed instead of stopping at any local Honda dealership and picking out your color. Takes some serious work to find a clean S!
At least that was my thought.

NOOOO, poor squirrel!
I actually use RTV clear silicone to hold mine in place...works like a charm.
LOL, figured someone would get the reference. Probably my favorite line in the movie.
I had full reign over what I could purchase. Only budget limited, $25-30k OTD. I've driven several S2000s and loved them. I still like them a lot, but I don't have the parking space for two cars.
Maybe I'm getting old but it's too loud inside. My BRZ is much quieter, though I still think it's just a tad bit too loud. I've been in a hardtop and it didn't seem much quieter, if at all. Plus I didn't feel like dropping another $2,000+ off the bat for one. Thieves in my area love Hondas.
Still have a lot of respect for them. I had a very short list, and the S2000 was on it. Different strokes...
