The Official Honda S2000 Thread
Guys I can't believe I missed the paintwork on my car. I've become super anal about it today. Do you think I could have the whole front end re-sprayed in an attempt to blend it better?
My fiancee hadn't noticed either until I showed her and she said "wow" I do notice. The bumper and front fender are a darker shade of red than the rest of the car. Annoyed

Mr Steve, I'm not sure if you discovered what the noise was but I had the same experience when I purchased mine. I spent weeks looking for an exhaust leak or something along those lines. I gave up and blamed it on the infamous tranny buzz. I drive an older one and I know the early ones had the buzz real bad.
As for your paint, same thing here. I ran a carfax report on mine, it came back clean. No accidents. Nothing. When I saw it in person, I didn't immediately notice it had been painted because it was very sunny out and the metallic (silverstone) looked insane! The front bumper was slightly off but I didn't pay much attention to it. As soon as I put it in the garage and out of the sun..... The paint wasn't as smooth as it shouldve been and I saw how bad the paint job was. So I had to live with it. About a month, I was going to pop open my headlights and when I removed my front bumper I saw that there was damage to the bumper reinforcement
Then I was replacing my speakers, different colored door
x2. Clean report with damage to the front and replaced door. I couldn't believe it. I spent Almost my entire savings on this car and to find these things just made me very angry. I've learned to live with it simply because I love the car. It's so much fun. I figure I'll buy another one in a few years but this time I'll be more aware.

Yes I love the car regardless. I'm going to have the exhaust looked at during the next oil change which is coming up here soon.
In other S2000 news I was given these for my birthday this morning from my wife!

Polk components!!!!!!
I went with coaxials but Im going to make the switch real soon. Im also making a bracket
so that i can mount addtional speakers in the rool hoops....2 speakers just dont cut it
I was also going to get that HU but didnt for 3 reasons:
1.) I have an iphone and whenever Apple decides to update it, the items that connect using the dock almost always stop working
2.) I was worried about my phone getting too hot in there although im sure it will be fine
3.) I wanted to control the music using my phone and not the knob since i like having the radio door closed. So i went with a HU with an AUX port and have my phone mounted using the Modifry mount and an Akron cradle. Very "clean"
I got these yeterday:
And these should be waiting for me when i get home:

I got these yeterday:
- a cover for the center console to cover up the ugly carpet that the 01's have.
- AP2 coil cover (just like the looks
)
And these should be waiting for me when i get home:
- Shiny new Blox shift knob....490 grams

- Rear spoiler, not the "wing" style

this post happened to catch my attention b/c i recently read about a 5th gen prelude that was up for sale still in the middle of the showroom at a honda dealer.. they wanted over 20k for it.. not far off from new price if i recall..
and just in something related, i think some dealer in cali just sold the last "new" type-R integra a while back as well... (never sold but had 5k on the odometer) it was a service training vehicle.
i think the miles on it has more to do with it probably. more so then age at least... the S2k probably had its fair shares of test drives...
sorry for the OT!

I was told by one of the trainers there that you dont want to buy them. They require so much work to get them fully operational again. Honda also doesnt discount them a whole lot. If they cant sell them within the company, they head to auction.
That conversation stemmed from an 03 SMR CL-S 6MT w/ nav they had with about 2k miles on it. The body was absolutely perfect. The engine was in many pieces and so was the interior.

Seeing those pics makes me want to get my S out. Now.
Instead, I have to watch it sit under its protective cover for another 2-4 weeks at minimum, until the salt is off the roads and the weather is warmer.
