So stoked.

Anybody getting near 100,000 miles should look into this, it was amazing how dirty the throttlebody & sensors get.

Did all of that stuff when I had a misfire. Even went as far as doing a head job In the end it turned out to be a clogged fuel injector

Great news, man...
Funny, I recall checking my IAC, but now that I think about it, I think I only checked the silver S...not the Rio...I might give it a whirl and see if there's buildup in there...can't hurt to clean it, that's for sure.

I know the feeling all too well.

I spent $150 on an issue that could have been resolved with $5 bucks in Carb Cleaner

At 130k, absolutely! If you can get access to a spare throttlebody gasket, take the throttlebody off and thoroughly clean the MAP sensor passage way & butterfly.

I don't know if it was the TPS sensor replacement or cleaning the IACV, but my throttle response is much crisper than it was before.

I don't want to speak too soon, but the true test will be this afternoon when it's over 90 degrees sitting in stop & go traffic.

No problem, T...and thank you I do love my S2000's...both for different reasons...actually, seeing the pictures made me kinda miss the Advan. I literally sold them one week before buying the new S2000
Not gonna lie though, the Konig fit the car's dimensions PERFECTLY without the need for spacers or anything.

About the Tranny...you can do that swap yourself, or for cheap at work...just get your 2 bottles from amazon and get it done, man. I promise you, the car was notch free...I swap to Honda MTF, fkng notchy within a week...GMFSM (AC D) fkng PERFECT since I swapped it.
You need to drive more

I miss your Advans as well. I like the Konigs but I LOVED the Advans. You should buy another set and then decide to sell them again so I can get dat friend pricing

I've heard great things about the GM fluid. I'll give it a shot! I just want the smooth shifts to come back considering how much I drive

It's what the GM stuff was rebranded to...you'll have a helluva time finding it under the GM name now.

I too did the Honda MTF and felt like the car got notchy within a short period...switched to AC D and have loved it ever since.

Sam, sounds good, man...awesome.

Tyler...noticing it in all different temperatures outside? Plugs for spark, clean air filter for air...then some fuel treatment for gas...
Amazon.com: Berryman 0116 B-12 Chemtool Carburetor/Fuel Treatment and Injector Cleaner - 15 oz.: Automotive
I just did a bottle of that Berryman stuff at Majofo's recommendation...so far so good...might be good to clean out your system?

actually, now that I looked it back up, I ordered 3 more to store...
too cheap to pass up.
Didn't know that, will not put in the Honda stuff this fall.

Is there a replaceable fuel filter on the S2000? Might be worthwhile to replace that too.

I'll probably clean out the IAC just because. Are TB gaskets hard to come by?

Me too. I've put on ~3k this summer. Will probably be at ~4k before I put it away.

Not super hard to come by, I ordered mine from the dealer for convenience ($7/ea if I remember correctly).

For those of you who have a daily driver other than the s2k, you can get cheap insurance at Grundy.com. I was quoted 270 for a year with unlimited mileage and 100 deductible.

I will look into that, Dennis...thanks for that information...technically, she can sleep in the garage all the time...that would save me quite some bucks in the long run of ownership...the registration I don't care about paying for 2 cars...but insurance is a KILLER.

Is it really that bad for you, J? I pay about $65/month with a $250 deductible. It probably helps that I live in the country

Stop getting caught speeding.

The insurance on my S is cheaper than my wife's Accord. It's only slightly more than the Jeep which is brand new.

Also, insurance rates vary drastically based on where you're at so YMMV.

This.

I don't have multiple vehicles, but I pay $115/mo for the S2000 with 25,000 miles a year (USAA, $500 deductible)

Not great, it was cheaper than my CLS6

LOL...so you make that comment and then nail exactly why mine is so much.

I haven't gotten pulled over since 2011 and haven't even ever had anything stick prior to that. No contest, court fees, sucka

You guys have no idea about South Florida and insurance rates/scams...

It's not THAT bad...I pay about $80/month more for the S2000 on our plans. Total of about $2200/year to insure all 3 vehicles which is totally normal here.

Jeebus, another reason to move to the midwest.

Cost me ~$1400/yr to insure three cars and two drivers.

Stud welder, check.
Slide hammer, check.
Body filler, check.
Sanding block & copious amounts of sandpaper (200-2000 grit), check.

These 3mm studs can really take a punch, I'm feeling confident that I won't need to use much body filler fixing my rocker panel this weekend

Paint will be addressed next weekend.

Wish me luck

^ did you leak any coolant out when you removed the IACV or did you pinch the lines off? I need to do this soon.

Mah ninja.

Notice any difference?

Cleaning the IACV, MAP sensor path, & sensors made a big difference with my car. Sure, it hiccups a little bit here and there, but only when it's 90+ in stop and go traffic.

In cool weather it drives like absolute tits.

Yeah, a little coolant leaks out so I'd recommend doing this when the car is cool.

Put a small terry cloth underneath the valve and you're good to go

I literally had one drop drip onto something below...i used a small blue shop towel but little to no mess...i also did do a fingerfull of oil on the seal to reseat it and freshen it up.

J.

I don't think I had an issue before, but figured it couldn't hurt and I haven't driven much yet...so we'll see.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll add it to my to do list for this weekend. Should be a perfect 65F outside. Good temp for car work.
