The Official Honda S2000 Thread
There's a guy in town here who's the president of the local Porsche club (or was, not sure if he's still involved), who would drive his Boxster year round, ALWAYS with the top down. Yup, it'd be -25 out and he'd be wearing a a big winter coat, toque, scarf, gloves, and driving with the top down. Crazy old guy.
8 days until the public NAIAS in Detroit. I can hardly wait for the new NSX that will be there. If it's reasonably priced.....buh-bye, S2000!
......but it won't be. So I'll have to settle for the RLX Sport Hybrid and its related drivetrain, and keep dreaming of my bucket list NA2 as it continues to drop in price.

I have had 8 convertibles in my lifetime. Total drop time over 25 years, has been 2 times. I don't buy them to put the top down. ALways keep top on or HT on.
Reason I buy them because these cars don't come in coupe version (S2000 or the Miatas).
I really don't think the new NSX will drop prices of the NA1/2. And believe me, I wish it would.
The 2005 NSX ended at about 110k (if you include inflation) by today's standards, so by that thought alone, I don't foresee the 2.0 costing less than 130k. That's a price many can't afford.
There are many NSX owners who will own a 1G and a 2G. There are many NSX owners who can't afford anything more than a 1G. I think there will be very limited owners who sell the 1G in favor for a 2G, thereby keeping prices where they are now. I guess time will tell though.

^^ THough I know you are likely right, I am HOPING you are wrong
I know the NSX and my LOtus they both bottomed out on the depreciation curve. I know when the 04/05 were new they weren't selling and thus the great lease deals, at that time. I still see them in the 55-60K asking price (mint ones). If they get in the 45k range, I would get one.

Why? You're barely letting that engine breathe. It was designed to handle the rpm safely, why not utilize it? It's not like you're preserving the engine longer by not using the rpm band.

THey sold them cheaper than that new. Reminds me of my MSM. MSRP 27K. They couldn't give them away. I bought one new in 2004 for 18K. I see guys asking 12-15K for high mile ones.
As someone who put 165k miles on his AP1, and then has a AP2, I much prefer all the upgrades to the AP2.

Some NA2 owners have them as toys in their extensive lineup of cars, or have been honda/Acura fans forever and bought one when they landed in the big times.
we will see an increase in NA2 sales after the new one is out.. not much.. but some.
im not in that crowd anyways.. still looking for a decent NA1

If the right AP1 comes along, I'd seriously consider it. There's a Formula red 2000 S2000 a friend owns, first owner, 75K miles, all maintenance done, new top, new interior, bilstein suspension, n1 exhaust (I think)...fenders never rolled, never abused, always maintained.
Be tough to pass up...I'd be curious about the 9K redline and how it feels driving it in comparison to the AP2. This isn't now...but it's been mentioned to me and I'm interested if/when the time comes and is right. All it really needs is headlight polishing...already has CE28 too, although I'm not a huge fan.

For myself, if I was building a track only car, I'd go with the AP1, for the revs. If I was looking more for a road car than a track car, I'd go AP2. The more useful torque curve is definitely appreciated from a daily driven aspect. Having traction control is a big plus too. Turn it off when you want to have fun. Leave it on so you don't misjudge the situation in front of you.
However, my S2000 was DD. I have put about 195K miles on my two S2000, so from a DD perspective I was talking about.
These days, only thing I want to track is an Ariel Atom
I'd love the new NSX to be $90k. I WOULD find a way to get it. It won't be $90k, though. $125k and up? Well, I'll live vicariously though the guys on NSXPrime and bide my time until used prices have fallen. Or, as stated above, a nicely used NA2.
ROFLMAO! As long as you're not going to lowball me.....

TO me the AP1 looks very dated. The updates they did to the AP2 (I know you can update the AP1, but I am talking stock vs stock), really modernized the car, even though the touches were small, overall package is better.
Plus I only liek the yellow on the S2000, and my Rio yellow is worlds better than the Spa Yellow I had.
At the end of hte day, we are talking about 1st world problems here.
There is a local guy selling AP1, OG owner, bone stock, only 15K miles. Asking pretty low too. Clean title.
Then again there is a guy with a 300K mile AP1 and a guy with a 450K NA1 NSX.
Only car I am jealous of htat he has is the wagon. Man I would give anyting for a manual wagon, even an american made one
It can be used as the Costco vehicle?
If I were to do the buying process all over, I would shoot for anything $15,000 and up.
I bought my AP2 in January 2014 for $12,500 with 115,000 miles on it - considering it's condition and how little work it needed done I pulled the trigger.
If you could get something with good compression & a solid clutch, you'll be fine. These cars are unbelievably stout, just rolled over 136,000 last night and it takes anything I throw at it.
Who knows, maybe she'll be more open to the idea if you test drove one with her? These things are quite fun as a driver & passenger.

I have convinced them its old tech, slow, and even a new Odyssey/Sienna will beat them at a stop light.
These days they are either driving GTR/M3/Used 911 or lusting after those.
I am doing my part, you do your part in convincing what a POS car the NSX is.
If it doesn't work, and someone is convinced its cheap to run, show them the price of the weather stripping on a NSX and that will scare them straight into going and buying a M4 instead.
More NSX for us

Hand detailing is insane...
I started that way. Porter cable all the way...I ended up even getting a full rotary but it's usually overkill for a nice light detail.
Spent the day cleaning our cars yesterday too...also made in the TL for the panavise phone holder similar to the modifry one for the S2000. Love it...
