OK so I left my car for 20 minutes, in the rain, windows were up, sunroof closed, when I came back everything was open including the sunroof. I know about the key fob thing but I'm certain nothing was holding that button down. What the hell? My interior was totally soaked.

Attended a 3 series driving event today. First time I've ever driven a 3 series. Couple of questions. How different if any is the MT between the 328 and 335 and how different are sports equipped cars vs non, steering wise? Pretty sure I know the answer about the sport pack since I drove both but I was so throughly dissapointed in the MT in a 328 I was kinda shocked how bad it was. And sport pack equipped cars rally seemed a step above in the steering department. Probably a must have?
335 is an amazing machine. But a 335d was Holy tourque.
Also drove a IS250 AWD, C300 RWD and A4 2.0 which had the worst steering feel of any car I think I've ever driven. Another shock.

I am not sure if the manual transmission is different in the 328 and 335i. I know the automatics are different.
Sport package doesnt change anything in the steering but you do get summer tires with sport package. That does help with steering in a way. Of course the sedans get the sport steering wheel with the sport package.
Agreed on steering feel on those other cars. Driven them plenty and was disappointed.

The steering feel in the 335 with sports package was sublime. I fell in love with it. 328's without were nice, but not to the same level. There was no 335 without. Only reason I'm concerned is that if I do start looking at one of these, it will likely be used which means limited choices. I want to make sure I really need the sports package. But I think I've crossed the MT out. Really made me appreciate the MT in my TSX.
I was expecting so much from the A4, but the steering alone was a deal breaker. Back to back driving is THE best way to car shop.

335 shares a tranny with the M5/M6. different from the 328 manual.

A few new pictures of my M3 coupe as I had some time to wax it at my parents house this weekend. The only major change to my car since I last showed it in October is tint.
Unfortunately, all I had was my iPhone camera, but even with the low quality pictures, you can see how nicely the wax reflects the surroundings:

I'll never get over how nice Space Gray looks, it's very similar to Porsche's classic grey colors.

Thanks! I'm really happy with the color choice. I was originally going to go with Interlagos Blue which is a great color, but my previous car (350Z) was blue, so I decided to try something different. They had a Space Gray M3 at the dealership and I was sold.

My friend is going through the same issue. He got a 335i right after it came out (he was on a waiting list) and paid through the roof. My payments for my M3 are not much higher and it kills him all the time.
The consolation is that the 335 is a great car and not much different from the M3 at all.

When I got my M3, the dealer had a new M3 sedan sitting unsold for ages really marked down. The issue is that it was missing the most basic options such as seat heaters and Navigation so most people like myself couldn't see spending that money on a car so bare bones.
According to the listing, it doesn't seem like this one has many options either.

That's nothing!! Darrinb got his M5 for $43K!!! Its an insane buyers market now. I bet you can get that M3 for 43-45K. Just look at the days on lot, and you'll see that these newer expensive cars sit there for days. When I bought my 335I, there was a loaded M3 on the lot. Days on lot: 367!!!

Go in there and demand service! Mine doesn't do this, but then again its a sedan. Ya'll should lemon law these coupes if this doesn't get solved.

Damn Scrib, sorry that your first BMW car is being such a pain.
Have you posted this on e90post? Maybe someone else had the same experience.
Zeroday, are you looking to buy or lease? There have been some super cheap lease deals out there. http://www.m3post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=284

And i disagree that they are similar. I find the ride and handeling on a completley different level....not to mention the sound of the V8. I do agree that the 335 is a great car, just not the same as the M3.

I know this is a bit controversial, but from every day driving, I prefer the feel of the 335 engine (slightly modded). The sound of the V8 in my M3 is fantastic but you really have to rev it to experience the power, and it's a bit annoying on city streets (as well as really bad on fuel). In order to pass a G6 next to me at a light I had to take it to 6500 rpm yesterday. Hell, my 350Z had more torque down low. The rush at 6000+ RPM is amazing but it's a good way to get the attention of cops and a reason why I'm averaging 15mpg on my last fill up.

I mean I'd still take an M3 if offered both cars, but its amazing how close the performance is, considering the price difference.

Yes, I said 840$/m for a 335i. Side effect of rolling negative equity into a lease.

No I'm just looking to torture myself by asking. Even if I could get a 600$ payment it would probably be too much. We're looking at upgrading to a bigger house and the money has to come from somewhere...when my 840$ a month lease payment is done in Sept., about 440$ of that monthly payment is going into the new house. Which leaves me with enough dough for a leased accord or something lol.

Wow has it been almost 3 years already since you got your 335i?!
And dont lease an accord. You can always find fun cars for around $25k used.. you know AZ would help with the search.
#2634
Yup 3 years come September. I think I was the first 335i owner on the forum if I'm not mistaken...till you came along and stole my thunder shortly after that is . It's a great car but it has almost 45k miles on the clock and it's starting to feel a bit old. I was kidding about the accord and you are right, there's a bunch of fun stuff that can be had in that range, so no worries, it just kills me when I see these M3 pics though.

My experience with the 335 is limited, but to me the cars were similar enough for regular every day driving. If you drive harder, you notice a difference, but both cars are great. The M3 is on a different level, but you won't realize that level during most regular driving situations.

Again, i guess this a subjective thing, but the M3 "feels" a lot more solid than the 335. That was enough to win me over.

I took the car in today, drove all the way from the train station with the passenger mirror in the parking position.
I literally went back after I checked in at the dealer, grabbed a tech and told him to start the car and feel my pain. He literally sat there for five minutes cotinually pushing buttons, walked out and says "this will be interesting".
Makes me feel good. Fortunately, they have now seen the problem. Took the car back and started scanning immediately. I drove off with a brand new 328 and told them not to call me until it's fixed.
