i have mixed feelings about buying a 09 535 of any trim with 56k miles unless you buy some kind of bumper to bumper warranty that will cover you to 100k.

Decided to revise my search a bit, I know its a different animal but looking at a couple of W212s with P2 package later this week.
Personally not getting one but the company car will be the M4.
Yeah, definitely a difference going from the M3 to a 5er for you...
But, I think you'll like your MINI. The Countryman I have is not quite what you have just bought but if the fun I get in that is of any indication, you'll really enjoy your Cooper.
And hopefully you'll get some time in the company M4.
All re-engined F3x models will get new designations:
Model name change for the re-engined F3x: 328i (N20) -> 330i (B48), 335i (N55) -> 340i (B58).
4-cyl B48 engine will have 330i/430i designation instead of 328i/428i
6-cyl B58 engine will have 340i/440i designation instead of 335i/435i.
PHEV F30 will come as 330e, not 328e.
I hope to have more detail on this development later.

Some of you may remember me from the crazy bmw.com-sourced pre-prod info dump in early 2013. I found another source. It's very limited this time: just the model, engine, and transmission type, and lists not only the models that are guaranteed to come, but also all those that BMW considered as a possibility (for example, the list includes both RWD and xDrive, manual and auto US F31s). The list is exhaustive as of:
February 2014
(if a rumored vehicle is not on the list, it probably didn't exist as a finished engineering project at that time).
This post is updated every few months, with fresh info added and the officially announced vehicles removed.
FAQ:
Can you tell me when these models are coming out?
- Yes, see latest update.
Can you tell me which of these models will come to market, and which ones we'll never see?
- No.
What options will be available on these cars?
- No clue.
Can you tell me where you found this info?
- No.
This is just the US market, EU is simply too varied to type in all combinations.

BMW is going to significantly expand their plug-in hybrid offerings, utilizing something that looks like a completely new powertrain. The following cars are listed now:
F45 223e SAT xDrive, manual and auto. There's a new engine code, XB2 1.49 M0. No idea what it is.
G11/G12 740e/740Le RWD, auto, engine XB1 1.99 O0
F30, 328e RWD, manual and auto, XB1 1.99 M0

F48 X1 28i FWD, B46B20O0, manual and auto
New car:
F57 Mini Cooper Convertible, same models as F56 above.
The following list provides better future visibility, but should be taken with a grain of salt: its reliability hasn't been tested. I believe it's best to consider this as "BMW's best laid plans". Also, no transmission information is available. Again, this is US only data. PM if you need EU data. Confirmed or disproven info is marked accordingly.

It's all marketing. To the average non-car person a 330 seems inherently better than a 328 because 330>328. It's stupid but marketing like this works wonders for sales.
This is the same reason they went from 335Ci to the 435i, because then they can charge more for less similar to 5 series vs 6 series.
But there are new engines with 330 and 340. From source in that thread 340 will be making 340hp instead of 300 right now. Instead of N5X, the engine is now B5X.

they did not change to 4 series to charge more since Coupe has always been more expensive than sedans even when it was called 3 series coupe.
It was more filling the competition gap <--fancy word for whoring.
So 2 series vs A3, 3 vs A4, 4series vs. A5 and etc...

Ok. I was a bit confused but I guess having the 330i (240hp) and the 335i (340hp) so close in model designation wouldn't have gone over well with customers.

to be fair, i seriously doubt they are brand new engines.
I think it is still the N55 with M performance pack + some ECU tuning.
and for 330i i believe there is a hp bump as well to 270ish. It is mentioned in the thread. Again it is still probably the same engine since N20 had pretty much 270hp crank already.

^Wait, the current N20 328i makes 270whp?? That's like 300-315bhp, which is pretty close to what the 335i is advertised is as.
Did a lot of work on the M3 over the long weekend since it's now at 120k on the odometer. Car feels a lot better and I am no longer concerned about any potential VANOS issues. I can now appreciate the German engineering that went into this car, but damn it was a complete pain in the ass to work on!
Here's what all I did...
Beisan VANOS oil pump disk
Beisan VANOS seals
Beisan VANOS solenoid
Cleaned VANOS valve body
Inspected exhaust hub (all in one piece still!)
Changed cam sprocket bolts to newer upgraded bolts (no damage to old bolts)
Re-timed everything
Valve adjustment
Changed thermometer
Changed oil
New L shaped LED Angle Eyes like the ones in 4 series Concept
LED headlight option
Relocated LED Turn signal (eyebrow like the new 5 LCI)
New B48 and B58 Engine
New Taillight
New M sport bumper
320, 330, and 340 Confirmed. Rumor has it that there might be a 335 in between 330 and 340.
Rumor: 320 will be at least 200hp, 330 will be at 270hp and 340 will be either 330 or 360hp
I am so confused, Name change and new engine at the same time.
That's not good. I'd take it in and have them read the codes.
I called the service advisor who I usually deal with and he made an appointment for me. He asked me to check the power steering fluid in the mean time, which sounded fishy to me, but I said sure why not. I poked around the engine bay and couldn't find the power steering reservoir. Checked online and turns out the new electric steering doesn't use fluids anymore. Not sure if I should trust anything else he says from now on.

He'll flush the blinker fluid for you too.
Honestly, that's an egregious mistake. How does he not know those cars?

lol! Ask him how come that he doesn't even know that. I would.

Uhhhhhhhhh, that's just bad. Very bad. Go to another adviser or the supervisor and let him know. You don't need a clueless idiot overseeing repairs to your car.
I don't think I deserve a thread for this, but what does anyone think about $5750 asking price for a 99 e46 328i, 129k miles, 5 speed manual, one owner, sport package (17" wheels), leather seats, good condition (only minor body scratches, minimal leather wear, engine in good shape)? I appreciate any input. The used car value sites seem to low-ball the car's value, only at about $4000, but I struggled to find a nice 328i with low miles for under $6-7k. Don't mind if it takes a while to sell, don't plan on actually getting rid of it until spring, but the longer it's for sale the better price I'll probably get.
That's alright! I know, it seems kinda high for what you're getting, and KBB values it around $4500 I think, but when I checked for similar cars on cars.com, you only really find 323i or 325i cars for the $4500 range. The 328is come at a $500-1000 premium in general... Still seems high.
