No valve adjustments on the S65 motor. It does need plugs every 37k miles, but other than that it just regular oil changes. The oil ain't cheap though and it takes 9 quarts.

I haven't driven the new M3 yet, and I'm sure the manual tranny is different although I'm not sure how much with regards to feel.... and in reviews it says the E9x M3 shifter is rubbery, but I think the E9x manual (sans CDV) is great.

I could care less about dual clutch transmissions. I doubt there's much difference between BMW's DCT (have not tried/experienced) and VW's DSG (which is great) but either way I'll still take the manual, and I drive in stop-and-go traffic daily.

IMO manual > dual clutch > automatic > CVT

..... well yeah, to each his own. thank god BMW doesn't offer CVT (do they?)

M3's rock. I always loved the stance BMW's have. Just wouldn't want to dish out all that $$$ for it.

Minis had CVT transmissions

I prefer the DCT cause its quick and drives as smooth as any auto. The manual in the M3 isn't bad. Its much better than the M5/6s in that the gearing feels right, but its hard to get a good 1-2 shift down under full throttle. Its hard to keep up with the performance of this car.

It's all about the execution of the DSG/DCT/whatever ...

If it truly holds the gear and doesn't force up/downshifts then I'm all for it.

If it's just a floppy-paddled gearbox then no thanks. Rather have manual.

2007 335i w/ 84k miles... yay or nay

Hey guys, there is a 2007 BMW 335i for sale and the list price is $23,000. The only problem is it has 84,000 miles. The car is auto and it comes equipped w/ the sports package. Those are the only 2 things i can tell from looking at the pictures.

Anyways, my question is do you guys think its worth it? What would be a reasonable price for that many miles?

I read a lot of problems on the e90 board in regards to the 335i. For example fuel pumps going bad, car overheats with mildly spirited driving, etc etc.

Is there any way to make this work favorably? I know you can no longer get a warranty from BMW at this mileage, but are there any good aftermarket warranties? Would it be worth it?

What do you guys think? Thoughts, opinions, advice...

that's a hell of a lot of mileage on a 2-3 year old car...

Consider that it is a turbocharged BMW which is out of warranty, so if something goes wrong expect to pay up...

Having driven both my 335 6mt and extensively test driven the 6mt m3 ; the shifter is much better in the m3.Still a bit rubbery but MUCH less notchy. It is still has the CDV curse, however. I am impressed with the DCT ... It is pretty smooth.

Any way to make it work? My friend really wants it bad hahah. Any good aftermarket warranties you can buy for 1 or 2 thousand dollars?

Shad up you!

And no to the 335i with those miles. Have him look at an E46 ZHP instead.

I'm sure but my experience with aftermarket warranties hasn't always been the greatest. I've had to pull some teeth to get some work covered before...

Although a great wheel, it is too common amongst M3s.

Buy Jesal's 328i so you can enable his tradeupitis to a M3

Speaking of, more and more im thinking of just forgetting the idea. Out of all the cars that i changed, this move would cost me the most. I owe a lot on the 328 and they offering very little. Its doable but extremely stupid. But just how stupid am I?

Knowing i lost close to 15k by trading in the 328i makes me sick to my tummy. I rather keep it!

We know of 3 local M3s that have P40s already.

Plus he needs something different online for marketing purposes.

I'd still get them but just in a different finish that no one had seen yet.
