335 can't even line up with an Accord.. it's slow AF.

You know, I'm almost certain the RLX is sentient...

Two part question. My neighbor has an 07 TL Type S in immaculate condition with maybe 15k miles on it. 3 days a week he drives it 5 miles to the nearest train station. Hes looking to sell it soon, but my fear is the car is rotting internally. Am I wrong to assume this? It happened to the last car he owned (Camry) so its the first thing that comes to mind.

That leads to part 2. My younger brother is having engine trouble, some type of ticking noise with his e46 330 and will most likely need a new car in the next year or 2 (if any of you know anything about e46 engines please pm me) He has a good friend who is a certified BMW mechanic and has recommended replacing the engine for ~$3k. Money is tight and he would hate to see lose the e46 but hes not 100% sold on a new engine.

Option 1: Replace engine
Option 2: Buy TL-S
Option 3: New car (budget under $15k)

Mods if its easier to make this into a new thread l will do so. I figured it would get better traction here

Part 1: If he drives it 3 times a week for any amount of distance I wouldn't be worried about it. If it starts and runs well then it'll be just fine. The ones that you should be concerned about are the ones that are started once a year and driven around the block. Just getting oil circulated is good enough. That said, change all fluids, maybe swap out the PCV and call it good.

Part 2: I have something of a bit of experience with e46 motors... What's the specific issue? The M54 has a notoriously loud valve train so it could be normal. If it's making a rattling sound, it could be the VANOS getting loose and is a relatively easy/cheap fix. Video and specifics on car would be useful (year, engine, miles, work done, when it started, etc...) to help diagnose the issue. The M54 is a stout engine, I'd be surprised if he needed a new one unless he money shifted it, ran it without oil, or overheated it.

PM me if that helps but there are probably other E46 people on here too.

i bet nothing is wrong with it and it isnt dying internally. and if it were; wouldnt keep me away as engines are super cheap.

What do you think a fair asking price is on the TL-S?

while my solution is often not the most logical one. But it is always the best one. Option 3. Always buy a new car

My mom sold me her 05 Accord that she put very little miles because she worked .5 mile away. No engine problems except the stupid IAC Valve issue I posted about the other day but that was after me putting on 50k miles in 3 years. So don't worry about a car being driven little.

This facelifted R8 sounds like a great car. An awesome review for the car.

NSX copied the pre-facelifted R8, so Audi tweaked the design. You didn't know?

Yes but not by itself. If the vinegar isn't doing the job, then the clear is etched. Clay bar and a light polish will fix the problem.

a light polish by hand or buffer?

I did not use vinegar + water on the paint because i am not sure if it is safe for paint.

It could not even remove the spots on her side windows.

i will try the clay bar....

Try by hand first and see if it helps. You can, in theory, do the whole car by hand but it'll take forever. The buffer is for speed, not so much results.

DAmn sexy.

Apparently it's the fastest NA motor car that MT has tested. I remember reading it was something like 2.6sec sprint to 60mph?!

w.t.f. on that RX.

It's like a massive ulcer/diarrhea of the black front grille area....whomever designed that and whomever signed off on that design needs to have their eyesight adjust or something....

Quite possibly one of the ugliest new cars I've ever laid eyes on....

I'm a HUGE Lexus fanboy, but that one looks like a massive melting tofu.

What's going on in the lower front grill area!?????? Can they just revert it back to have the same grill as IS or GS!??
