General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I don't think they've confirmed the GTD here in the States. They keep talking about it but never commit. They may have to wait until the Mk8 because of the torsion beam axle for the urea tank. By the time the Mk8 hits Europe, the new regulations in the EU will be out and VW will have justified reworking the rear end of the car to fit an IRS and urea tank for diesels.
IMO styling wise they've gone a bit too far in the opposite direction from the happy-face. But the interior looks like a great place to spend time in, and they've kept the size/weight down.
cmschmie, does city MPG matter? If not I'd maybe look at some more bigger cars, i.e. Passat TDI. Theoretically more comfortable on the highway without too much of a fuel economy penalty, if at all.
Wife wants me to look at a Mini Cooper.

I like the car, just not sure how useable it will be for me.
What are y'alls thoughts on the SVT Focus? Anybody ever driven one?
The interior looks plastic fantastic, but the chassis seems better tuned from the factory. Thinking of checking one out as an alternative to the EP3, they're better priced.

Dont know much about it but the exhaust sounded pretty nice stock.
What's your budget?
The SVT Focus is a decent enough car. I would rather have the older Civic. Ford was doing semi decent when they were building the SVTF. I had a '98 ZX2 which was nice. Reliable and loaded at the time and $15K. Really liked it. Should have kept it instead of trading it for the 2002 Grand Prix that I hated.
ETA: The only "Beamer" I'm aware of coaches Virginia Tech's football team.
