I like the colors available but I wish there were a few more. A dark red would be great!
Just wait until BMW is ready to release the new model; there will be tons of special and limited edition colors like the E92 had

I think if I were ordering an M4 today (which I'm not), it would be Mineral Grey with a Black Full Merino interior.

Are you sure it isn't time to trade in the 335i for a "M", Tim?
No. I like the Interlagos Blue, Indy Red, or Melbourne Red from the previous generation.
I'm sure I don't have any money for such a thing. So, I guess that makes me sure it isn't time for that trade.
Compared to the pricing on an M-Sport 3 or 4 with similar features, I agree with you. I think the way I configured the M4 coupe was only "about" $5k more expensive than the way I configured a M-Sport 435 Convertible.

Why AWD? The reality of living up here in Canadark.
Not that $75k is "reasonable", mind you, but it's better than one might expect given how outrageous the pricing gets on a run-of-the-mill 3 or 4.
If, by "fully spec'd", you mean with the carbon ceramic brakes, that may be. But, I spec'd one to about $75k and it was nicely appointed.

actually i lied.
I just built one $65k with 6mt, HID, Navi, Red extended leather (for $950 that is a no brainer) and Sakhir Orange ($550)
Considering a 435 M sport with Navi and Extended leather will run you about $56k+, $9000 more is cheap for a real "M"
Alpine white is just wayyyy too common.

will throw some aftermarket wheels on, maybe Kinesis or BBS. or Work Meister.
My M3 Sedan

Black Extended Merino Leather
$950
Manual Transmission
$0
Moonroof

That's a given, because we already know it will kill M5s in 0-60 and 1/4-mile. Since M5 HP>M3/4 HP, then it follows that RLX+Tires>M*. QED.
