I did 30K miles in the first year I had the Jetta. And I only used it for a work commute during the summer (4 months).

I'm right around 20k. 30 miles each way between my house and my office.

I don't like to go far. My friends/family live ~18 miles away or less. Work is less than 10 mins. I average 12-15k/year. Think my highest was 18 when I first started driving and wanted to go everywhere, and drove with no destination for fun.

On my MS3, I averaged 7k miles per year for 4 years.

I'm around 3k right now. It's about 1k per month.

My work commute is only 20 miles round trip.

I think I just like driving more with this car.

I think I'm going to try and get a "hot" hatchback.

EP3, Focus SVT, or 1.8T GTI?

I'm leaning towards an EP3, but was surprised when I took an SVT out for a spin. Not bad at all. A 1.8T would be easier to make power from, and I can throw on the parts I have laying around.

I hit the one year mark at the end of the month. I'm at 19,5xx or so right now. I'm sure I'll hit 20k within the next two weeks.

I think the joke with the MK IV Golfs (other than 1.8T nevar lose) is that it's a car that will teach you how to change fuses while driving. They're solid, but electrical problems will pop up.

I would personally go with an EP3, I love the shifter. I would consider the SVT too, but I don't know much about those.

I drove about 28,000 miles last year. Not a sales job. This year I'm starting slower - only about 6k so far.

"Know Your Enemy" article in Car Craft, December 1999. This was right around the time import car tuning was getting really hot and the domestic guys were getting worried

lol that reads like one of those old computer parts ads. Like, seriously?

Unless you're racing from a roll, or it's an AWD car, it's pretty easy to tell. Roll racing is stupid anyway.

From what I've seen, yes, you can beat V8s with a small import. That's been the case for a while now. But mo cylindas = mo powwaaa

The terminology section cracks me up. But its so true.

that feel when 130 wtq

There's just something about a OHV V8. The torque delivery is way down low, and you feel it so much.

Of those 3, I'd take the EP3, but I'd look for a late model.

Really? I'm only at 18,300 and it has been 16 months.

My work commute is about 45 miles round trip.

I have yet to drive more than a couple of hours away, though.

No reason not to try everything out at least once in life. Different cars, different food, different women... you never know what you'll like.

I still want to buy a land barge. Big luxury sedan to cruise around in. You just feel like you're hot shit driving one around.

By the time your BRZ is paid off, you will be able to pick up an Equus for about $10k

So i have been searching for my Civic HB and all the ones i have seen in person are owned by teenagers who think they own a piece of automotive history.

I can't find one that was owned by a 70 years grandma...So i am starting to give up on the idea to find one unless it finds me first.

I really need to find a hobby!! i am gaining weight fast.

Have you been just searching regionally or all over the US (i.e. on Auto Trader)...?

^ I think you'd have better luck finding a clean automatic, and swapping it.

My brother is looking for a vehicle to drive clients around. Fuel efficiency is important. He really likes the ATS styling as a benchmark, though his wife isn't a huge fan. Also somewhat considering the TSX.

He really wants a Mustang or Camaro, but he's like me all over the damn place. Those are his ideal cars since he's never had a V8. But I think he'll come to the realization that it'll cost too much.

I don't think his clients want to sit in the back of a two-door

The ATS would be a good option. The Fusion Titanium is a very nice car.

If this is to drive clients around, his wife shouldn't really be putting in her two cents

You're not married, are you?

Completely forgot about the Fusion! Loved the Ecoboost rental I had. She's actually really supportive... he loves his MR2, but after 15 years of ownership it's been well used. Lifted Tacoma isn't great for clients either.

And yeah, my brother is as much of a yellowneck as I am.

Should add, his wife doesn't like BMW/MINI or Ford after owning their cars in the past. We'll see what they both think of the Fusion.

I also suggested the Accord and Mazda 6 I still love the styling on that car.

No, haha. I have yet to meet one that was worth compromise.

An Accord Sport would be nice too but perhaps a little boring. Especially if he lusts after the Mustang.

I have upgraditis because the assembly quality of my Focus never quite lived up to the first month I had it.

But nothing I want is in my price range. It's kind of crazy that $30K doesn't buy much that is interesting. I guess without dogs, my needs would be different. But cars really have become expensive. So many new cars are $50-70K now that are recent certified cars are still in the mid-$40Ks.
