General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I honestly think he is just messing around. He can't be serious about some of the things he said.
On the other hand SSFTXX sounded more serious.
and there this guy who always write in red first then black in every post.

Well, without going in that moron's direction, I learned today that we are expecting a large allocation of RC's due to how many GS' we've been selling thanks to last month's "event". Because of this large allocation, they are supposedly, preparing to let members get a nice fixed rate for anyone who may want one in the range of $450-$550/month & can bypass the required deposit to order one right now.
So, theoretically, anyone at work could have the first ones in the county. Too bad there's no way to get any actual idea of how it is without press reviews. We're not expecting any prototypes til' late summer for everyone to "learn" on. Otherwise, a F-Sport trimmed sounds really tempting for a couple years.

I'm not actually sure to be honest, but I think the 300h will be the lower tier due to the fact that the RC350 F-Sport is supposed to fill the "gap" between the base car & the actual RC-F. That & I don't think the 220Hp 4-cylinder/hybrid motor will be a better selling point over the 306Hp V6.
The 300h also has an optional F-Sport package which I assume will make it priced similar to a RC350.

RK Motors is selling their CLK-GTR Roadster I saw last month. Anyone have $2,000,000?

I'm planning on going this Saturday to see it again before it's sold.

Is this the one that tried to sue MB over the car?

From what I recall, most leather is actually painted over with a flexible paint and then sealed.
I'm surprised that no one has figured out how to do this with synthetic materials. If what I'm seeing and sitting on is really paint, what difference does it make that it's leather underneath it?

i never understood the whole point of "leather Seat" it is easier to clean , yes.
Other than that, your ass through your pants will never feel the leather. Whether the seat is comfortable or what not is based on how the cushion/foam feels.
Rich people problems.

So it is out there.
correct.
3/4 series base without leather is leatherette or whatever craps they are calling it.
I prefer those over leather because it does not wrinkle or crack like real leather. So still looks new 10 years later.
Like some of the girls i have seen lately...

Nearly 10 years ago, dealer in L.A. Supposedly there was more to it than was being reported (I believe it was modified or something, can't recall).

I was just curious why they didn't make something synthetic and then treat it like the leather seats.
I'm used to Japanese cars in general having more supple, but thinner leather. Especially MB, their seats are borderline uncomfortable, but the leather holds up really well over time. Not sure about the current crop of cars.
What a gorgeous photoset of the Aston Martin DB4 here: http://www.crankandpiston.com/galler...ies-v-vantage/
Went to change the Passat's rear pads earlier this evening. Volkswagen being Volkswagen, installed their unique locking wheel studs on every. Single. Stud.
Whatever. Doesn't it come with a key?
It comes with a screw driver, a tiny wrench, some bolt to spline converter thing, and a hubcap puller. That's it. No lug key.
Ask me if the car has hubcaps.
