If the Accord is the K24, it's a chain For reference, on my old 2000 Accord V6 my mechanic (Honda Master Mechanic but did it at his house) timing belt, water pump, and cam swap to Type S cam was $500 labor. Forgot parts cost of belt and pump.

Isn't yours a 4cyl, Mr. Window? If so, swap spark plugs and call it a day. Iridium ones are good for another 100K, but are a little more expensive. IIRC the service manual calls for a valve adjustment at like 110K, but it's not really needed on the K24.

I'm sure you can find someone on the forums that would do it for a decent price. Especially being in LA.

Yes it is a 4 banger LX. Always garaged and everything is working fine. Never had a CEL =) I will get a quote first and see if it makes sense financially.

I am not planning to get anything done at the dealer since all they do is Inspection for $400 and any replacement will be a lot more. Considering the car is probably worth $6000 - $7000, it doesn't make sense to spend $1500 to have everything inspected and replaced.

So i am only looking to replace the "must" items.

Replacement items:
water pump
Spark plugs
Engine oil/Tranny oil/Brake fluid
Coolant
Air Filter

Repair:
Valve adjustment
Timeing belt/chain service

Anything else?

I wish I still have the desire to work on cars like how i was 10 years ago... I became so lazy that I don't even wash my cars anymore

$$ makes people lazy.

Why do you need the "timing belt/chain service?" ifit is K24?

I don't think it's worth bothering with anything timing/water pump related, but the rest will set you on a good path for years to come.

Timing chains are meant to last the life of the car.

Don't even mess with the chain.. just do water pump. Valve adjustment is up to you. If you really want to save coin, pass. Do plugs, pump, coolant, tstat, plugs and be done. Oil, ATF, filters, BF and PSF as needed.

oh yah also i am not planning to follow the maintenance schedule. I wanna do everything once so i don't have to touch it for the next 30-40k miles other than oil change if i am keeping the car.

What is the deciding factor in whether you keep the car or not?

total maintenance cost vs. value of the car and if there is anything out there that is a worthy replacement.

Don't forget PSF.. if you've never changed it, you should check it out. Easy DIY.

is Tstat necessary?

ok i will add power steering..

There is no question about tire replacement. If my Accord needed new tires, it is gone... too bad they are still new.

I know someone like that.

That would be me but it's not...

My Corolla needs brakes, and a 105 service plus I'm having some issues when starting the car. Plus it's not my cup of tea.

You gotta cut your losses. THat was my reason for the CT. Bad decision. Its like marrying the wrong woman. You can't wait cuz she will take 1/2 your earnings. Better get rid of her know, than 5 years later. My CT lasted a whole 13 months

Toyota is a decent make. I wouldn't buy another one though. Unless it was a Tundra, Tacoma, or Highlander.

It's either keep the shitmobile and do some stuff around the house. Or get a TSX that I've been wanting for a while.

What's with Corolla and Prius drivers? Fucking grandmas. Does the throttle really not work or something. Camry drivers are ok. The Lex hybrid wagon drivers are worse.
