VERY cool, Tim!
Edit: Could it be the 2014 ELR?

At least the brand's image is strong enough to sell such a car at that price now. That was such a shot in the foot with the XLR.

So, in this lovely pic...who'd win on a track?
And, does it matter?

Did anyone see the 2014 Camaro Z/28's 'Ring lap time?
7:37.47. That makes it four seconds faster than a ZL1 but faster than the 991 Carrera S, the F430 Scuderia, and the Mercedes SLS. It's seriously fast. More than a second faster than a LFA.

2024 Honda Civic Type R
However, those taillights are just awful. And GM really needs to step up its headlight design and start to integrate newer, more efficient, and aesthetically-pleasing technology (yeah a bit picky, but get with the times).
And priced higher than the ZL1???

That's awesome. And I love how GM stripped all of the non-essentials out to make it truly a track car (and manual transmission to boot).

I'd take the Corvette.

Is it priced similarly with the Corvette?
I'd take the ZL1 over the Z28, I think. Even though it's quicker around the 'Ring, it's hard to wrap my head around more money for less power/amenities. Would be much cooler if it was simply a stripped out version of the ZL1 IMO.
I agree with RPhil about the looks of the rear. Taillights look like something GM brought from the late '70s. The front end would look better with HIDs or something similar, but I guess this front just goes along with the non-essential theme.

Really too bad because the car itself is remarkable.

I think the new Corvette is okay.. that freaking wheel gap is the biggest eyesore imo.

'08 MX5 GT 6spd.
Why not both
I'll have to see a few more Corvettes before I decide whether or not I like it. The C6 was, IMO, great when it came out....hell, still looks amazing in most cases. Im not sure what they were thinking on the new one.

The new Corvette is better looking in person. The wheel gap is still VERY noticeable though

The track was a bit wet as well, some drizzle. The car definitely kicked loose as he was exiting one of the turns.

Well boys, we ARE just comparing the Corvette and the Camaro...So, as per the discussion, if we are picking between just these two rides, it'd have to be the former strictly on looks and its history.
Still, gimme an M3 or M4 and I'll be done with it. Don't care if either American cars are faster.

What plastic skirt are you talking about? The one in front of the tires?
That has functioned as a device to route air to the radiator ever since the C5. I can't even remember what the C7 looks like underhood but I wouldn't be surprised if the radiator was sloped backwards. This is how they get that low, long hood in a front-engined car. People take that skirt off of their Camaros and Corvettes and their cars start overheating.
In any case I also can't stand that huge swath of black plastic. I'm all for diffusers, which I love when implemented well. But it looks extremely cheesy on the Stingray. Here's to hoping the Z06 will remedy that
I can't wait to see what the Z06 can do, especially with their new engine architecture. I'm not so much a GM fanboy as I am a GM powertrain fanboy. Whenever I see some tiny car with an LSx swapped in, it gives me wood.

I can't believe how the camaro went that fast!
Speaking of Camaro's the USC autoclub I'm is growing a relations ship with GM. This is the clubs second year in existence. Anyway GM told the pres. how they have two camaro's they will be giving us for the week! I think the only rule is the people driving need to be 21 and over. So the selection is gonna be random and the keys will be passed along various members of the club to test it out. No clue how long we'll get to use it for. Just hope my name gets picked
Although I dunno where I'm gonna park my corolla... I have only one spot in LA.

Camaro SS? Or... ?
If they give you guys SS's, enjoy. A lot of people enjoy the surging power of a turbo kicking in, but I found I enjoyed the gobs of low end torque of a pushrod V8 just as much.

well let's not forget the Z28 is setup to be a vehicle for roadracing, and has some serious parts on it and such. I mean it's not like a Z28 of old. it's nice to see it kick some ass on the ring.
