General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I don't think a new thread is needed, so i will post it here.
The Chairman of our company's Panamera Turbo's lease is ending soon and he is asking me to help him get a replacement. I am not his assistant but he knows my background and trust my recommendations. (I helped him with his last 2 cars and his wife's X5).
I think he liked the panamera and i have driven it plenty of times, including once to Vegas with a client.
I feel the ride quality is perfect for me but might be too harsh for him. He loves high HP cars (his previous 2 cars were SL63 and Panamera Turbo) but with his growing family and age, I personally think he needs something a little bit more comfortable but still with a lot of power.
His current lease on the Porsche with MSRP $19X,XXX is about $3000 drive off with $2700 a month. (with close to $50,000 in options
) The discount on those cars was a joke and it was more like take it or leave it kind of deal.
I looked at Bentley Flying Spur and thought since it had similar MSRP the lease deal can't be THAT much different. Oh i was wrong... after some quick search it seems they want $10,000-$15,000 drive off and monthly payment is close to $3000.
$$ is not a problem, within reason of course since it is company paid. But That is just too much.
He does not think 7 series is good enough and i thought about S550 or S63 but i am not sure if he would go back to MB after the Porsche.
With such big budget, this is getting harder than i anticipated. 1st world problem, i know. Any other recommendations? Army of AZ > Me
Yumcha: Notice all the cars are all white?

thought about it too. But based on the review on Top gear, the ride is probably just as stiff as the Porsche. and 2+2 does not work anymore. he needs to fit 3 kids in the back when he has to.
can't believe i am buying cars based on what Jeremy clarkson had to say.

i went to check it out and somehow i landed in the XF section
and this is the spec they have for the new XF. I am not into 0-60 #s but when you gotta be kidding with this kind of #s.
XF 2.0T PREMIUM
• 240 HP
• 2.0L i4 Turbocharged
• 0-60 mph in 7.5 seconds

RS7 or S8?

This would also probably give everyone in the company a big morale boost, since they no longer have to look at the ass of a Panamera every day coming into work.

Say what you will about the Panamera, but if I had the money and needed to get a sedan, that's what I'd get. The interior was way more comfortable then the Alpina B6 (6 series GranCoupe).

Something is up with the car.
I posted the above over at TDI Club and there is a dealer on there that helps with the excitement by letting you know where the car is in transit.
The car was originally bound for Virginia, but my dealer was able to get it transferred, at least that's what I heard on Saturday.
Well the guy at TDI Club said that he shows it still going to Virginia. I called my dealer yesterday to figure out what is going on and for some reason the dealer in Virginia no longer is willing to let the car go.
I put a deposit down on this vehicle and have a contract "pre-signed" with this particular VIN. I'm trying to be patient and let it work out, but damnit I want my car.
Sorry for the rant.
Aman, come down to Chicago and get this!
'02 Civic Si for $7929
2002 Honda Civic Si Used Chicago IL | Muller's Woodfield Acura

No Audi. He has A8L laying around in China.
But Panamera is the definition of too many buttons inside. Looks nice until you want to find some features, then good luck.

speaking of which thanks for the reminder, I gotta bug my friend about shooting his white one.

So on Saturday when the deal was made it was agreed upon by both dealers to make the swap. However, when the GM came in on Monday he fucking nixed it because the cars "are so popular".
That put the bind on my dealer to find another one.
I asked that my dealer put the screws into Lindsay to say that it was agreed by some under management to let the car go and I have a deposit on this VIN.
If I'm the chairman and $$$ was a non-issue, but a super saloon was on the wishlist, I would consider something from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, or Aston Martin. Secondary, Mercedes-Benz or Maserati.
If the 7er is not good enough, I would say Audi and Lexus are right away out.

No Lexus or Audi. No RR either, he aint that rich.
I personally love the Panamera too. But the Options are just ridiculous. If you thought BMW was bad with options. Porsche is probably 2 level worse. (or better)
