Saw my first M4 in the wild today when I was returning to the office from lunch.
It's gorgeous. I sometimes see a black 6er Gran Coupe on the way to work...and mannnnn...I wanna kick the probably-smug-owner's ass for having such a nice car.
if the S63 is not nice enough, there is also this........
Holy shit balls. The motor in this thing is nothing short of incredible, 738 lb·ft is the amount of torque needed to jump start a dying star. I'm sure it sucks in the corners but who cares when you can embarrass most sports cars off the line in your gigantic MB limousine.
If Richie Rich wants an SUV with performance and presence, there's always this guy. Even more exclusive because most haven't even heard of it yet:
BTW, just stopped by my local VW dealer to test drive a new GTi. Went to Acura for a TLX as well.
The new GTi looks cuter than the previous one. I drove the SE trim with a manual. The car obviously had some nice kick to it when the boost went. The interior was pretty nice. The center stack looks more luxurious than before. The handling was pretty direct. The steering was very light though.
The thing that I didn't like was the driving position. I don't know it's because I'm used to the small sports car, but the car felt very big to me. When I made some sharp turns at faster than average street speed, the car felt bulky. Not sure how to explain well, but something felt "loosen up".
Told the salesman I'll come back when they get the new Golf R because I'm not really into FWD cars. He said he owns a nicely modified GTi himself and he's super happy with how it drives. He showed me his GTi.
It was a hellafreshlyfail style literally dropped to the ground.
Hint: There's a bit of a running joke in play with Yummy's "Honda" comment. Perhaps look back at some of the discussion on this board when the first pics of the new Mustang came out.

I mean it's basically the same car in a different form.
Don't give me that iforyou crap on me. Nicely equipped one should be under $45k.
The spec number is special enough for $45k. I mean the numbers itself are incredible. Thought you like nice 0-60 and 1/4mile times.
I've read a shitload about it and watched all kinds of video reviews on the R. Every single one says the R is better than the S3 in either hatch or sedan form. They aren't identical. Whatever VW does, it is better.
A S3 Premium Plus without Navigation is $45k. The Prestige loaded is $50k.
The Golf R is going to be 7K less and if the reviews are right it will be better too. Just my :two cents:

Using the same platform and same engine, no? It's in a different form, that's all. Obviously the numbers will differ by bits.
I haven't really looked into the details of either cars since I didn't really care. But then, I just saw the review with all the spec listed out yesterday and thought it was incredible for its price.
Show me the linky where you found the better spec numbers of Golf R. I just googled couple and seems like it doesn't have better numbers.
Just correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not even siding with either cars. Not really into it like you are, obviously. Just posted the info because it was pretty cool.
And where did you get your S3 pricing info from? You can pretty much get a loaded S3 Premium Plus with Navi/Performance pkg/LED pkg for $46k.

I'm not sure what you're picking that I'm not but I can get to $44,950 with the convenience package, 19" sport package, LED lighting, and metallic paint. That doesn't include Navigation, rear airbags, and the Driver Assistance Package (BLIS).
Just to be clear, I didn't say that the Golf R had better or substantially different performance numbers. I was saying that just about every review picks the Golf R over the S3 as the better car overall.
Hey guys if you're looking for good custom equipment for your car, check out redlinegoods.com. They did a great job on my boot and now it matches the red stitching in my 2009 WRX. Check out some of their work

Here are a couple of representative videos:

S3 Premium Plus + Navi Plus + LED Package + 19" Performance Package = $46,250
And thanks for the vids. Now it makes sense a little.
I was only looking at the numbers on the test sheet which clearly indicated this US-spec S3 putting out faster performance numbers.
Not sure how much similarly equipped Golf R is going to cost in the States, but if it's anything under $5k difference, I would personally purchase a S3. That's just me. I like Audi much more than VW.

I don't think it will be closer than $7K and as much as $10K in some cases. But the VW probably wont have BLIS, etc.
I'm guessing $38K with navigation, 19s, and DCC. The MK6 was about $36K so I am expecting a bump of a grand or two.
I would love to own an Audi but 45K is a lot of money. $40K is a mental roadblock for me. I just don't feel comfortable paying more than that for a car for some reason.
The new Mustang looks really good. Was watching an Autoblog video about it ... Car was in Ruby Red with the 19" 10-spoke wheels. $43K with Recaros, Navigation, 401A package ...
Mmm, yes. Ruby Red would probably be my first choice.
Once the Golf R is released here in the US, it's going to piss me off when I try to go on VW's website only to once again realize they were imbecile enough to remove the car builder.

Their new website is a travesty.
Sad when I have to build my VW at True Car or Edmunds
