ROFL, jesus that was racist as hell.

But that guy ... It looked like he had done that track 8,000 times on a PlayStation and drove that way. Who puts their elbow on the door like that on a track?

And what was he doing fiddling with buttons all the time? Yes, I know, resetting the microwave for his kebab.

It took me a couple minutes to realize that fat fuck was propping himself up through the g-forces in the turns.

I'm amazed that he was even allowed back on the track.

That video wasn't funny. It was infuriating.

What is funny is when drivers like that get butthurt. They rely on their car's power and get pissed off when a lower HP car (Miata, etc.) hangs in there right with them. And even despite the crash, I'm willing to bet he made excuses as to why he wasn't wrong.

I still can't believe the organizers let him back on the track after wrecking a MP4-12C. I hope after this video he's never allowed back on a track again.

Looks like Chevy hit another home run with the Camaro SS 1LE package for 2015. Motor Trend just tested it vs. the 2015 Mustang GT with the Performance Pack and the Camaro obliterated it around Willow Springs.

It does seem that the wider (and better) tires may have played a large part in the performance but from what the review said the damping of the Camaro was much, much better.

It's also $4Kcheaper (as tested) than the Mustang. Though apparently the GT had every option available in it for the review.

Surprisingly, the GT was only 72lbs lighter than the Camaro.

I think I'd take the Mustang as I like the way it looks inside and outside better, but 1.5 seconds per lap at Willow Springs is no joke.

If you were looking for a car for weekend track days around $42k, I can't imagine much would beat a 1LE (unless you bought something exotic that was well used). The only option I would add to the as-tested price of the test car is the $1,995 Recaros.

I say all this because I feel like I'd be an idiot for trading my Focus for another Ford ... I but I love the new Mustang on paper.

It could very well be the best car in the world on the track for the money (if it isn't already).

I'm not sure why Ford nerfed the Performance Pack as much as it did but clearly they messed it up. In a straight line, the 1LE and Mustang GT are almost identical: 4.4 to 60 and about 12.8 in the 1/4. The Mustang had the higher trap speed at 112mph.

Damn, I must have missed it because that video is only 2 seconds long now with just text.

Well, there could be many reasons. Focus ST to F-150, Explorer, Mustang, Flex, Focus RS... Raptor. Nothing wrong with getting another Ford.

The video will shortly be set to private but if he or anyone else has another word to say about this GTR I will put it straight back up. For everyone else, share it while you still can.

Excellent Driver in a GTR. There's a rumour that he isn't banned. He's coming to a track near you. If you see this guy, his car or his friend's cars, warn everyone, pack up and leave.

Made as a Parody Exception to Copyright Infringement. So Mr GTR, you just keep sending out copyright infringement reports.

Rumour is the driver in the video crashed into a MP12 WHILE he was already under yet another black flag. The Maclaran driver said that he had to turn in opposite lock to keep the car from spinning after the impact. The passenger of the Maclaran also commented that the GTR carried on out breaking cars and passing cars while in the corner with a large propane tank AFTER they had collided.

Yeah, true. I could get the Mustang for about invoice. I just don't know what I'm going to do about replacing the Focus. I'm all over the place. I had trouble getting the car into reverse this morning ... I'm trying to be patient until the Golf R gets here as that car ticks all the boxes.

The only Mustang I would want is the 5.0 with recaro's, nav, manual and the track pack which comes out to like $42-43k.
At that point I'd rather just spend another $2-4k and get a M235i.

I should be checking out a 2015 Blue 5.0 tomorrow in person.. Will see how it is.

Is a M235i with that stuff only $48k?

Apparently the standard seats are actually pretty good and are heated and cooled on the Premium trim. It might not be necessary to spend another $1600 for good seats in the Mustang.

Edit: The base GT with Recaros and the Performance Pack is only $37k.

Jesus. Even the solid axle 5.0 was no slouch around a track, and IRS is supposed to be a big improvement. That's kinda scary. Like you, I wouldn't buy the current Camaro either.

GM's plan is still to go to a smaller platform for the next gen, last I read. 3600 lbs with an LT1 would be very impressive, if they can manage that.

Part of me misses the big V8 torque. But I just don't want to get myself in trouble again.

My only problem with the Camaro is that the interior really looks like shit. It's cheap, crappy plastic all over, hard to see out of, terrible infotainment, no luxury whatsoever, and no technology (no keyless access, no push to start, no nothing). For a $40k+ car, that sort of stuff should be at least available... Hopefully the next gen Camaro fixes these issues.

As far as the Mustang goes, I'm guessing the 1.5 second difference was likely due to tires more than suspension. The tires on the performance pack are not nearly as good (or wide) as the 1LE and as such don't put the power down or hold on as tight.

Randy Probst said that he thought it was a mixture of both and perhaps more about damping. However, looking at the skidpad numbers, it's clear the Mustang tires simply couldn't provide the same grip.

During the track runs, Probst said that he felt the softer damping led to more rebound by the Mustang and that impeded both traction and the car's ability to put down power (which was comparable to the 1LE).

The 2014 GT PP did Willow Springs in 1:25.77 and the 2015 GT PP did it in 1:24.32 so it's almost 1.5 seconds per lap faster in the new car. I'd be really curious what better damping and better tires do for the GT.

Fair enough.

Either way both are two amazing muscle cars that do a lot more than straight line drag racing these days.

1LE is a great everyday track car. Much better value than the Z/28.

There's nothing within $40K of it on the fastest Streets of Willow lap times that I saw. It's just ridiculously quick. Faster than a SRT Viper and .4 of a second behind a 458 Italia.

Love the performance side of the Camaro. It's just mind boggling how good those performance trim ones are.

But I would NEVER buy Camaros. They are fugly as hell inside and out.

I would love to get a new Mustang though. Love the look. Performance is pretty good as well. But if you aren't going to track your car, the track time shouldn't mean "that" much anyway.

Who cares if it's faster a second or two at the track? What does that translate to people who don't track it?

I would always take something that I would enjoy it everyday.

If I wanted to make a track monster as a side car, it would always be something like these: 86/S2K/Miata. Don't want the heavy cars with high output engine for tracking.

I actually like the look of the new camaros. The only thing that bothers me is the useless back seat and even more useless trunk space. Good for a back pack, not much more.

When you get such a decent value on them, you can't really gripe about tech and fit and finish. The value is purposed in the performance items, which is not for everyone.

Dude.. I really like this new Lexus SUV. Looks fantastic imo. I would so rock this over Audi Q5.

And who the eff would buy a RDX over this and Q5?

Oh nevermind. TLX boys would totally get the RDX over this.

By the way, the base price was announced yesterday that it will start at $35k.

I like the "predator" front ends on the Lexus sedans. However, those on the Lexus SUV/SAV/mommymobiles are hideous.

The new Lexus lineup is a little too edgy for some. Literally.

IF (strong if) I got a luxury CUV, the NX would be my choice. Showed it to my sister and she hated it.

Makes my Infiniti Sea Cucumber on wheels look like a beauty queen IMO.
