General Car Talk Discussion Thread
And on a serious note, that's the reason the C63 AMG was not my current car (versus the Infiniti). We thought long and hard about it but, with the winters up here, we just had to go CUV. Heck, if it wasn't so bad, I'd be in the Merc and probably saved $12K too since all-in, it was $63K CDN I recall.
I'll go back to a sedan as a next car but it'll still have to be AWD (i.e. 5-Series xDrive).
Aren't all new AMGs now 4Matic, standard? I thought I remember hearing that somewhere. Maybe it was just the CLA. And something about putting all the torque to the ground instead of releasing rubber into the atmosphere by means of vaporization.
No sir.

c63amg vs fx50 in winter.......... id bet the c63 would go thru the snow better

Now the WRX is pretty nice with the 6MT. I like those numbers. But I don't think I could live with the design. That's too bad because I've always loved the STi.

A little tact, maybe some comprehension.
I was picking on Yummy earlier too...I thought it was kind of the board pass-time. Sorry.

I only wrote it in the SWEDT thread finally because the ordeal is over. I've been carrying it around for awhile now. No biggie. And Maj and I are cool.
Okay...wasn't meant to come across like that. I totally misunderstood what you meant by the "1-year old" comment. In jest, I've had it suggested the way out of my financial issues was to sell or otherwise divest myself of one of my three kids. I thought that was in that vein. I see now I was wrong.

And the E63 would not have been in our books as we were leaning towards new.
And everyone picks on me.

I get no respeck.
Randy’s Impressions (on E63 4Matic S Wagon):
On the chassis setup: I would love to take some of that predictability and compliance and build it into the Viper, and even the SLS. Believe it or not, yeah. Because it helps it rotate in. If you don’t do that, then it can be a little lazy coming into the apex.
On the driveline: You know what, I did not notice all-wheel drive. Except for the fact that it doesn’t loosen up under power. It still doesn’t. Or not very darn much. In fact, what I like best about the car was tossing it in and getting the tail coming out, and then going to the power, and it just smoothly drives off the corner putting all that torque down. It’s not obviously an all-wheel-drive car.
On the engine: It has lots of torque, lots of power. I don’t notice any lag, not on the racetrack, anyway. Glorious exhaust note. Really beautiful sound.

On the handling: Fair amount of roll and a fair amount of understeer. It really likes that toss. Even better, toss and trail-brake to get the tail to move, because when it does, it’s just beautiful. It needs to be driven like a rally car.
On the transmission: Yeah, turning in for that last corner, I had to make sure I had second. Because it doesn’t want to go to second. The ratios from second to third and third to fourth are pretty wide, which, for me, was a disappointment. You’ve got seven gears. You know, close up the lower ones -- bing, bing, bing, bing.
Overall: Best wagon ever. Love it. Really powerful. Handles well. More understeer than I like.

So, it started out with the C63 as my #1 choice but after thinking it through and taking into consideration the weather, we nuked that idea and stuck with SUV/CUV...XC60, X5, and the FX were our finalists.
I do lament that the Evoque and current-look Cayenne were not available.
