They used to have a few different variants of the supercharged 4.

To be fair, I really should wait to compare numbers between this Exige and the older models to see if the adjustments actually made a difference.

Personally though, with the path Lotus has been taking of late, I think they answered a question that was never asked.

Shit, an NA K20 can make those numbers. Thats why most of the K powered Lotus' are so much faster then their stock siblings.

What japanese reliability?

Our 08 accord with 61,000 miles on it just got its third battery.

Only to find out the alternator went bad.
There's also a clip in the back of the driver seat that broke so that back plate is crooked

Past: I think we've changed the front and rear brake pads twice. Maybe one was three I lost track.

Our driver seat had some problem where the seat would lag when moving positions. Some electrical issue.

This thing is a bigger money pit than my to with 180,000 miles on it. Luckily most things are covered under warranty except the brakes and this newest battery.
And its a good thing my dad got the extended warranty.

IIRC our Accords are built in Ohio.

There was a TSB/recall(?) on the rear brakes on the Accord. Honda is known for shitty stock brakes, but the 8th gen Accord is just ridiculous. Its gotten worse too, my mother used to have a 7th gen and went through two sets of rear pads in the 40k miles that she owned it.

I dont even know what the mileage is on her '08 (its under 50k), but I do know that next time she drives down here Im going to be replacing the front pads and rotors. Second time for the pads, first time for the rotors.

If the alternator is what caused the previous batteries to fail Id fight to be reimbursed if you havent already.

But, as time wears on, youll see that even Hondas arent built like they used to be. My 88 Civic, my brothers 90 CRX, and my 90 Civic were/are built very well. My sister in law had her new (at the time) Odyssey in the shop for nearly a week about two months after buying it because the driver side sliding door wouldnt open. The '06 Pilot before that had a vibration from the front end its entire life and they couldn't find the issue. Aside from rattles, my brothers 08 Accord coupe was in the shop for noisy valves and a noisy belt tensioner. The XM also cuts out if you change the station while another is loading and you cant get any sound until you restart the car (cutting power to the radio doesnt fix it).

Add me to the list of not-so-reliable Hondas.

Went to start the car after getting gas today, and... nothing. When you turn the key, everything lights up as it should, and... that was about it. No actual starting going on.

Tried again a third time, and only after about ten seconds of holding it there did the car start. No suspicious activity afterwards, but I haven't started it since.

Suspicions?

If it didnt crank, check the starter, relays, cables (particularly frayed or rusted cable ends), and lastly the ignition switch.

If it did crank, check for spark and fuel. When you turn the key to ACC, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

Well, if its not cranking, Im sure the fuel pump isnt your issue.

Check all the cables from the battery to the starter and to the fuse box.

Also, if it does it again, look at the dash and verify that the little green key (it should be green) is flashing. That means your immobilizer is being read. If theres no green light, it doesnt see the chip = no crank.

Actually, check for a TSB on the ignition switch-- Honda had a TSB for contemporary Odyssey ignition switches.

Have you figured anything out yet Aman? I'm willing to bet its the starter. They go out prematurely in the TLs pretty often.

This... was weird. A few days ago at night after I installed my lowering springs, I noticed that I turned off my car and the 2nd lcd screen on top (3G TL) that displays HVAC, radio, time, etc was still on. It didnt display anything... but it was like the backlight was still on. I locked the car and it stayed on. Ideas?

I left it and came back the next morning, battery was fine so i guess it didn't stay on. But it happened the next night too. Noticeable from outside of my car with tint. Haven't noticed it lately, but just freaked me out...

Thanks guys. Haven't taken it out yet today, but I don't think it'll happen again. Just strikes as a one-time kind of thing.

I remember that TSB last year, Will. Some 2003 Accords were recalled, but according to the dealer my VIN wasn't included.

I should rephrase what I said about cranking. When I turn the key to "START", it didn't crank for about 5 seconds, and when it did, it seemed perfectly fine. Started a bit quicker than normal, actually.

I'll be checking the starter and ignition switch first, and then looking at all the cables, etc. that I can. Thanks guys.

Now that you mentioned a delay, Im about 95% certain its the ignition switch. Its an easy fix.

Went out today, no sign of the problem. Green key thingy lit up, and it started fine.

Joe, is your issue still there?

The TSBs are helpful where they have step-by-step instructions to assess and diagnose the parts at issue, whether recalls apply or not. I usually need those instructions since I'm not competent with anything involving more than a straight parts swap.

G/L!

I ultimately replaced my rotors and pads with high performance components. My new rotors were cross drilled. That solved the problem. In Toronto, with cold weather, snow, thaws etc. my brakes would wear quickly and often I'd end up with warped rotors that vibrated when applied at highway speeds.

I used to like the Countach and the Gallardo. The problem with Lambos and Ferraris is they do not age well.

its pretty peculiar. in the 80's and 90's there were just some 'boyracer' type fad designs that unfortunately found their way onto the exotics. for instance, I think this still looks good:

http://www.lambo.com.pl/samochody/19...tach_qv_11.jpg

but the '89 version with the bolt-on aero mods not so much:

http://www.cartype.com/pics/8513/ful...h_88-89_07.jpg

http://sportscaradvisors.com/wp-cont...i-countach.jpg

just one example.

no. that would require me looking through the entire Ferrari and Lamborghini history going back to the 60's. and I don't have time to do that. The Miura is one completely timeless design (do you disagree?) I would have to say its mostly the older models that have aged well. I def agree late 80's models haven't aged well. and early 90's. I think the 512TR still looks good. obviously this is subjective as well (which is also why I don't believe you can collectively say ALL Lambos and Ferrari's haven't aged well, as you did).

IMO neither of the cars you posted have aged well. That might have to do with me being a fetus when they were in showrooms, but I think most, if not all Ferraris have aged much better than Lamborghinis. I'd kill for a Testarossa or an F40, but Countach and Diablo don't do much for me.

"Dated" or "aged well?" IMO, there's a difference in terms of what is being said. For example, an AM DB5 looks "dated" in the sense that it looks like it's from the 60's. However, I would argue that is has aged EXTREMELY well. It still evokes a strong, positive, reaction from the majority of the car community.

Again, IMO, the Countach has not aged well at all. It's just so overwrought. That being said, a 1966 Miura has aged very well; still a beautiful car. Espada, not so much.

Ferrari is along the same lines. The 250 - still beautiful. 1973 Dino - blech.

yeah, lots of personal preference. I love the Countach, it was one of my fav cars when I was a kid so it has some sentimental presence for me. Same goes for the TR.
