Personally, I think you're right - they look awful.

Tom's tails is the clear winner here.

Eww.........

My favorite is Clear/Red Valenti. That will probably be my choice next year.

TOMS looks great in pics, a little underwhelming in person.

Valenti running lights

If you're gonna wait, maybe they'll come out with another version. I've seen some issues with the LED strips. If they did something like added another LED swoosh for the actual brake lights and signals, they'd be my favorite tails.

Yea I don't like that second option. If it was all molded in it might look ok, but not with the gaps.

Yeah, that's just a big no-no.

So, I got it all done.

Mount done.
Nexus7 Torque app done.

The entire set up cost me $40.

Tabs - $35 shipped
Nexus 7 - $0
Torque Pro App - $5

So, it was a fun track day at Chuckwalla Raceway. Got to meet up with TylerT and Vwong at the track.

I drove more than 400 miles within like 12 hours, so I was just dead tired when I got back home around 7PM. I didn't stay for the last 2 sessions. I was pretty pissed off since the group I was in only got to do like 4 laps and was done.

Anyway, the wide wheel and sticky tire set up is just AWESOME. It's now a completely different car. The amount of grip that I have achieved from the set up is just mind blowing. I actually didn't know how much grip I have on the tires, so I did like 8/10th most of the laps, but they never made a skidding noise. My 86 friends were telling me that I need to push it more and learn how to react to the oversteer. That's the key to go faster they said.

So for couple "safe" turns I floored right when I hit the apex... ah that glorious feeling of the car fighting to push forward with the rear kicking out a little at the same time. The pedal was completely down to the floor and slight counter steer corrected the rear end and just went BOOM.

I really need to go back. I wish I can go every weekend.

My next one will be on May 18th I think at Streets of Willow. That's the track I went to for the first two outings, so hopefully I'll be able to get some faster times with the new wheels and tires.

By the way, the entire 400 miles trip averaged around 20mpg. I guess that's not too bad considering 60 miles out of that was just blasting it at the track. And I averaged around 90mph for +150 miles on the highway on the way. On the way back, I averaged 75mph for another +150 miles.

Pretty economical I would say. I would highly recommend everyone to purchase FRS or BRZ if you are looking for a new car to track and DD.

Forgot to share my Project Mu Club Racer brake pads experience. Let's just say I'm not going back to the track without them ever. It's world's better than the stock pads, obviously. The initial bite is so much more responsive and crisp. It seemed like it was easy to control it. Don't know how to describe it.

And I think the master cylinder brace had something to do with the initial bite increase as well. The brake feel had been massively improved. It's definitely a no-brainer mod for any FRS/BRZ owners. It's like 80 bucks new or something.

Very random car at the track.

Yeah man... I mean going from 17x7 215/45/17 Prius tires set up to 17x9 245/40/17 RS3 tires set up... was going to be huge. But yeah, it made a huge difference.

You definitely need to hit up the track and learn that. It's like the most glorious feeling of driving ever.

Uploading the track video right now. It should take an hour to get it up. Nothing really special about it. Just me driving like a noob.

I bet it was really fun... I need to make it out to one. My friends aren't down, is all.

Autocross will probably be first though. I wanna see what the limits are for the stock setup. This is probably the first car I've owned that I can comfortably push the limits on. My Camaro was scary as shit going balls out. It was a good training tool for throttle control, at least.

^^^that's actually what makes me feel like I'd be happy enough with a semi stock or mildly bolted on set up rather than FI etc...a lot of vids i see you can see the oversteer happens so easily and they have to let off the throttle in turns...just seems counter intuitive.

Yes!

You definitely have to go! You can just go as 100% stock. It's amazing what this car can do in a factory trim.

You should go with the stock wheels and tires since it's extremely easy to drive fast and very predictable in terms of what's going on in the back. The sticky summer tires have much, much higher grip but it does have the tendency to "let go" at the limit. So, gotta be much more experienced to drive really fast on the fast set up I guess.

It was nice to meet you and TylerT, definitely. What a track day.....so packed in almost every run group (except for the Alfa and Lotus run groups, I would think). I had a goal before the day. I wanted to get into a sub 2:10 lap (last year, I did a 2:15.1xx), too bad I didn't meet my goal. But I did shave off almost 3 seconds to a 2:12.355. I think I could've done a 2:11 lap had I not lift to let someone pass.

I'm working on my video now, hope to upload it in an hour or two.

Line is pretty good, Aaron.

Here's my lap. I forgot to bring my PLX device, so I had no RPM, throttle, and gear data.

^^^Better than your RPF1?

Great vids, guys...I'm guessing the biggest difference in your lap times are the extra power of the 335 in the straights? Fantastic to watch, btw.

The biggest difference is the driver.

Vwong is fast. He has much more track experience than I have. There were like 30 FRS/BRZs at this track event. Some of the guys were running 6-10 seconds faster lap time than mine with the similar modifications. My best lap time was like right in the middle of the pack.

Wish I got to spend more time out on the track though. This freaking group that I was in was only allowed like 5 laps max per session. Such a BS.

Is he now??! I hear that you're more popular with the ladies, since you take your time.

Gotcha, my bad too...I thought it was video of the same track! You're nuts...I like your RPF much better than the ones you posted...they look like a knockoff of a cheap wheel

How about I wish there was some cool track LIKE that one around these parts!

I agree with Costco on the ummm.. "Style kits"

STI sides meh
STI rear is nice though. But I also like the rear ones Toyota has

I am still not sure if there are more, haven't really been to that ft86 forum...

Agree on tails as well. Since I want Valenti too, will wait until they upgrade the brake and signal.

Not even a month and just passed 3k.
Speed? Meh, not a speed guy anymore, just thanking God I don't have more than 200hp.
Taking the car to the top of it's limit on daily driving is the key I was looking for, and found it.

Never been to a track because I know the wider the roads are, the more HP I will want, and 200 is not enough haha
Perfect street car as it is right now. Love it. Don't want more grip too, perfect grip to slide the car while making a 90 degree turn from a redlight

I am really away from modding this car performance wise after the TL.
Will open up a thread soon, getting some little stuff done.

Don't say it's the driver on the track before pushing the car to it's limit, you got road man, try to take those corners faster, slide the car. Sit lover and hold the steering lower with the right hand if you can. Feel the car and slide the hell out of it
Pull the steering closer too, angle your arms has is not enough for a quick response

You keeping those traction stuff on?

Good to hear back from you man!

I'm 99% set on the STi side and rear spats. Those will go on my car as soon as I get my coilovers early next year. I eyed on the STi kit even before getting my car.

Just for street driving, the stock tires are fun sliding at will. However, the stock tires made me furious at the track since they had not much grip at all. It does give you very good feedback and slides at very well controlled manner.

The RS3 tires are one of the best streetable track tires on the market right now. They have so much grip, but they aren't nearly as forgiving as the stockies. At the top of the limit, I need to be able to control the car perfectly without any mistake since it has the tendency to just "snap" oversteer. I'm not that great at controlling the car the car in that situation "yet". So, I was doing like 7-8/10th of driving since it was my first time driving with the new wheels and tires.

But yeah, it was awesome. I felt like I was over driving the tires when I had the stockies. Now, I'm definitely the limiting factor. :P

And I have never really wanted more power even at the track. It has plenty to have fun and post some surprisingly nice lap times at most of the tracks. Because you can basically catch everyone in the turns if you know how to drive. haha

And everything has been off from the track day 1. You would yell F word like million times if you have any of the electrical nannies on. Well, the good thing about them is that they work really well in the rain and other sticky weather situations. But definitely off at the track. You do know that we have a thing called "Pedal Dance" right?

You should definitely hit the track. Our cars are designed to be driven at the tracks.

Glad you are having fun with your car!

That looks a lot like Type R wings.

Seriously? I was thinking someone PS'ed an STi wing onto a BRZ. Just from that shot, not feeling it at all.

So, someone on the forum bought the OE Style Rear Diffuser from the vendor. It had a very minor defect, so she just got a new one from the vendor.

I PMed the member right away to ask about the original one. She said she'll just sell it to me for $35 shipped. It's on the way!

It'll look like this with my JDM tips.

With the free Nexus and $35 rear diffuser. You are really making us Asian proud!

but please, don't drive around with bodykit and aftermarket wheels and bigger exhaust tips with STOCK Height.

Your ghettoness is coming out again.
